Crystal Quartz (P Spry) was slowly away. Below Stares (A Gillett) jumped awkwardly. Leaving the 950 metres Count Melandri got its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance. Approaching the 200 metres New Era which was inclined to lay in made contact with This Manshood. Mallee Fire shifted out over the concluding stages. Stewards inquired into the reason New Era (A Lane) was checked near the 100 metres. After taking evidence from riders C Beets (This Manshood), A Lane and D Green (Emperor’s Revenge). It was established that This Manshood which was racing to the inside of New Era shifted out to obtain clear running and Emperor’s Revenge racing to the outside of New Era shifted in under pressure. Stewards were of the opinion that C Beets was the main contributor to the incident and was given the benefit of a reasonable doubt because Emperor’s Revenge had a bearing on the incident by shifting in. 1.36 PM.
RACE: 3. Rocket Charge (W Orbell) which jumped awkwardly was hampered shortly after by Awedad (K Mahoney) which jumped out. Shortly after the start County Crossing (A Lane) was hampered by Nascarma (S Nolen) which shifted out. Bally Robyn (G Lynch) shifted out over the concluding stages. On returning to scale Jockey A Lane’s right foot made contact with the gatepost of the parade yard when his mount ducked sideways. Time Off: 3.26 pm
RACE: 6. At the start Majikarl (K Mahoney) was hampered between Calling (R Kerwin) which jumped out and Exciting Macedonia (D Green) which jumped in. Bay Poet (C Beets) jumped out. Approaching the 950 metres Roving Minstrel (G Lynch) was eased from the heels of Bay Poet. Magic Step (C Maund) was inclined to race with its head in the air in the middle stages. Near the 550 metres Getelion (B Appo) was eased from the heels of Roving Minstrel which rolled out. Near the 200 Lucky Yil (S Apthorpe) was eased from the heels of Exciting Macedonia which shifted out under pressure. Shortly after Getelion was eased from the heels of Exciting Macedonia. Stewards inquired into the reason Roving Minstrel that was racing between Time Table and Roman News was checked leaving the 800 metres. After taking evidence from riders S Nolen (Electrical Storm), B Carne (Time Table), K Waller (Roman News), S Apthorpe (Lucky Yil), G Lynch (Roving Minstrel) and D Green (Exciting Macedonia). It was established that Roman News shifted in after Lucky Yil made contact with his hindquarters after being taken in initially by Exciting Macedonia which was taken in by Electrical Storm which shifted in marginally. Time Table shifted out marginally at the point of the incident. Stewards took no further action, as they were of the belief that the shift from the inside and outside was not major and Roving Minstrel contributed to it by racing fiercely. Majikarl and Magic Step, which were racing behind the incident, were both steadied. Time off 4.05 PM.
RACE: 7. Just A Cuddle (C Beets) which jumped awkwardly was hampered shortly after by Kaoru Queen (B Appo) which jumped out. Cruisaway (K Waller) which was slowly away was hampered shortly after by Gorilla’s Galore (W Orbell) which shifted in. Near the 950 and 800 metres Kazakhi Gold (S Nolen) which was lying in and away from Poetic Joker (B Carne) which was hanging in, made contact with the running rail. Approaching the home turn Gorilla’s Galore was eased from the heels of Kaoru Queen. Stewards inquired into the reason Tzarist was checked near the 950 metres when racing to the inside of Gorilla’s Galore. After taking evidence from riders B Appo (Kaoru Queen), P Spry (Tzarist), W Orbell (Gorilla’s Galore) and G Lynch (Silk Organza). It was established that Kaoru Queen, which shifted in and away from Silk Organza made contact with the hindquarters of Gorilla’s Galore, which then hung in tightening Tzarist for room. Stewards took no action as they were of the opinion that Gorilla’s Galore by hanging in was the main contributor. Time off 4.45 PM.
All winners were swabbed.
