Near the 950 metres Black Sails (J Baker) shifted in making contact with Car Club (M Aspinall). Leaving the 800 metres Car Club got its head up whilst being eased from the heels of Lomax (K Waller). Majikarl was momentarily held up for clear running near the 200 metres. On returning to scale Apprentice J Baker rider of the third placed horse Black Sails lodged an objection against Car Club (M Aspinall) being declared the winner for alleged grounds of interference in the middle stages. After hearing evidence from riders, connections and viewing of the patrol films. Stewards dismissed the objection as they were of the opinion that at the 600 metres Car Club obtained a tight run between Lomax and Black Sails, in doing so he made minor contact with Black Sails. Shortly after Black Sails shifted in making contact with Car Club on two occasions, resulting in Car Club being taken across the heels of Lomax. J Baker was subsequently reprimanded.
