An inquiry into the reasons for UMAPRINCE being checked at approximately the 800m was adjourned.
Apprentice S Galvin was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on his mount UMAPRINCE particularly between the 1400m and the 800m. Apprentice Galvin stated that his mount dropped the bit during that section of the race until he was checked near the 800m. Stewards informed Apprentice Galvin that they were critical of his actions, during that section of the race, as he had shown no signs of vigour to hold his position and appeared to allow his mount simply to lose ground and position in the race. In assessing this matter Stewards took into account Apprentice Galvin’s relative inexperience, however informed him that should similar circumstances arise in the near future Stewards would be inclined to take a dim view.
ALL WINNERS WERE SWABBED
