GENERAL
Apprentice A. Allen who had a race fall at Eagle Farm on Saturday 21 September, was examined by the ambulance officers prior to this race and cleared to take his rides today.
Race 1: Dalby Leagues Club $11 Lunch Specials Maiden Plate - 800m
As J. Brown was indisposed, W. O’Connell was substituted as the rider of SELFIE.
BOOTALONG (G. Geran), LONSFORD (A. Merritt) and SELFIE (W. O’Connell) were slow to begin.
BLAZING ASALT (B. Newport) began awkwardly and lost ground.
Shortly after the start, PETER’S PENCE (S. Falke) shifted out abruptly and made heavy contact with PROXY RULER (A. Fancourt).
Approaching the 600m, PETER’S PENCE was crowded for room when racing between RETURN TICKET (S. Bogenhuber) and PROXY RULER, which shifted in.
Near the 500m, CHOSEN COURT (S. Apthorpe) was obliged to ease when tightened for room between PROXY RULER when unbalanced shifted out and CHILLS (J. Orman) which shifted in slightly. Both A. Fancourt (PROXY RULER) and J. Orman (CHILLS) were advised to exercise more care
RETURN TICKET, which was racing greenly near the 400m, shifted out and made contact with PROXY RULER, resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced.
BLAZING ASALT raced greenly approaching and rounding the home turn.
CHILLS was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
When interviewed regarding the seemingly improved performance of CHILLS, trainer R. Coveney stated that CHILLS had shown ability on the track, however had a tendency to miss the start like it had done at its most recent run at Eagle Farm. He added that he had taken CHILLS to two recent jump outs in an endeavour to improve the filly’s ability to begin with the field and had also removed the blinkers for today’s race. He further added that CHILLS had pleased him in its trackwork and that fact that the filly began well today had a bearing on the performance. Stewards noted the explanation.
Race 2: Childhood Cancer Support Bingo QTIS 3yo BM65 H’cap – 1400m
POUND ON TUBBY (A. Fancourt) stumbled on jumping away.
TELL A STORY (W. O’Connell) shifted out at the start and was then slow to muster speed.
POUND ON TUBBY overraced in the early stages.
Near the 800m, POUND ON TUBBY had to be restrained and shifted out away from the heels of HIT THE ROAD (A. Allen), which shifted in when not clear. A. Allen, rider of HIT THE ROAD, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
HIT THE ROAD (A. Allen) shifted out under pressure over the final 200m.
A. Holt (MISS SUNSET) stated that his mount travelled well until the 600m, however when placed under pressure, failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. Stewards will contact trainer L. Birchley with regards to the performance.
A post race veterinary examination of POUND ON TUBBY, revealed the gelding to be exhibiting the presence of a small amount of blood confined in the mucus discharge in both nostrils, which the veterinary surgeon reported was the direct result of an airway infection and not a bleeding attack. Stewards in considering the report from the veterinary surgeon, advised trainer E. Hayes that he will be required to provide a veterinary clearance with the satisfactory results of an endoscopic examination to be carried out on POUND ON TUBBY following exercise, the results of which are to be forwarded to stewards, and that the horse must officially trial to the satisfaction of stewards before POUND ON TUBBY is permitted to race again.
Race 3: Dalby Leagues Club Members Maiden H'cap - 1200m
AS GOOD AS ME MUM (D. McIntosh) was slow into stride.
Near the 900m, SPECTACULAR ROCK (S. Bogenhuber) had to be steadied from the heels of JUST AS SWEET (L. Tilley), which laid in despite the efforts of its rider.
SURLY TEMPLE (A. Allen) dipped leaving the 900m.
AS GOOD AS ME MUM (D. McIntosh) raced ungenerously for some distance approaching the 800m.
Stewards will interview jockey A. Allen regarding his riding of SURLY TEMPLE over the final stages of the event.
Race 4: Dalby Leagues Club Bingo BM75 H'cap - 1788m
ROCKET BOOTS (S. Bogenhuber) began awkwardly and lost ground.
CRAZY WAYS (J. Hoopert) dipped on jumping away.
Near the 1400m, URBANE (S. Fawke) was forced to steady when tightened for room between TOYHERO (B. Newport) and CRAZY WAYS, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. J. Hoopert, rider of CRAZY WAYS, was reprimanded.
URBANE and TOYHERO overraced in the early stages.
STARS ARE BORN (K. Yoshida) overraced from the 1400m until near the 800m.
URBANE raced wide for the majority of the race.
STARS ARE BORN (K. Yoshida) was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
S. Fawke (URBANE) was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the finish of the race.
A post race veterinary examination of ROCKET BOOTS revealed the horse had bled from both nostrils. Trainer’s representative Mr D. Gollan was advised that ROCKET BOOTS would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.
Race 5: Dalby Diehards Class 4 H'cap – 1400m
HE IS LOYAL (T. Banks) was crowded for room at the start between SPURRING SPIRIT (N. Evans) and LE MAX (S. Fawke), which began awkwardly and shifted out.
Leaving the 1100m, DALINGI (R. Ride) shifted out from behind MANCHEBO (S. Bogenhuber) and in doing so placed SPURRING SPIRIT (N. Evans) in restricted room for some distance to the inside of AMAZING DRAGON (S. Apthorpe). R. Ride, rider of DALINGI, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
Near the 800m, HE IS LOYAL was steadied from the heels of LE MAX.
OUTBACK GRANDE (K. Yoshida) raced wide throughout.
Passing the 500m, HE IS LOYAL shifted out marginally and had to be steadied from the heels of LE MAX.
S. Bogenhuber (MANCHEBO) stated that her mount travelled well throughout, however did not respond to her riding from entering the home straight. She added that she felt the gelding had switched off and had recommended to connections that the blinkers which were added for today race be removed. A post race veterinary examination of MANCHEBO failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 6: Dalby Devils Class 2 H'cap - 1000m
RUBI OF THE DESERT (A. Taylor) was tightened for room at the start between RHYTHM NATION (T. Jeffries), which shifted in, and SPIRIT OF LIBERTY (S. Bogenhuber).
INFAMOUS (B. Appo) began awkwardly.
Leaving the 800m MR AXEMAN (D. McIntosh) raced in restricted room for a short distance.
Near the 550m, HUSSY ERIN (L. Appo) was checked and lost ground when tightened for room between INFAMOUS (B. Appo) and SPIRITY OF LIBERTY, which shifted out at that point despite the efforts of its rider.
Approaching the 200m, SPIRIT OF LIBERTY shifted out slightly away from ON ICE NOW (J. Orman) and in doing so made contact with VICE OR VIRTUE (R. Goltz)
R. Goltz, rider of VICE OR VIRTUE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that leaving the 200m, he permitted his mount to shift in, dictating the line of SPIRIT OF LIBERTY, which was taken inwards, tightening ON ICE NOW (J. Orman) in on to the hind quarters of ARESVEPEE (S. Apthorpe), resulting in ON ICE NOW being forced to check and lose its rightful running. R. Goltz was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 6 meetings, to commence at midnight, 22 September and to expire at midnight, 3 October 2013.
J. Orman, rider of ON ICE NOW, pleaded guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that leaving the 100m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of MR AXEMAN, which as a result clipped the heels of ON ICE NOW and had to be checked. J. Orman was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 6 meetings, to commence at midnight, 28 September and to expire at midnight, 7 October. In this incident, HUSSEY ERIN which was following MR AXEMAN was inconvenienced as a consequence.
Race 7: Dalby Leagues Club Bistro BM79 H'cap - 1000m
ELLO ELLO (A. Taylor) stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground. Connections were advised that an official warning out would be placed on ELLO ELLO.
DOM PAOLO (S. Apthorpe) began awkwardly and lost ground.
LITTLE MRS MURPHY (C. Kearney) knuckled on jumping away.
Near the 550m, DIAMOND HEIST (L. Appo) which shifted inside the line of the running rail entering the course proper shifted out and in doing so had to be checked from the heels of SEQUILLIAN ((S. Fawke).
Race 8: Dalby Leagues Club Presidents Class 1 H'cap - 1300m
As M. Speers was to be overweight, S. Bogenhuber was substituted as the rider of River Blues. M. Speers was fined $100.
SELDEEN (S. Apthorpe) was slow to begin and lost ground.
A short distance after the start, RIVER BLUES (S. Bogenhuber), which was racing ungenerously, shifted in and made contact with SELDEEN.
Near the 1100m MAGIC GLENYCE (L. Tilley) shifted in marginally at the same time as BEAUIFUL BARB (B. Appo) shifted out resulting in MAGIC GLENYCE being eased from heels.
Leaving the 900m, SELDEEN and SEEK THE GOLD (K. Yoshida) were placed in restricted room between STEEL TO THE HEEL and MAGIC GLENYCE, which when overracing shifted out and away from A TAD APART. A short distance later MAGIC GLENYCE and SELDEEN were eased when tightened for room between A TAD APART and SEEK THE GOLD which was taken inwards and then steadied from the heels of STEEL TO THE HEEL. W. O’Connell, rider of STEEL TO THE HEEL, was reprimanded in this incident and advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances
Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the 600m where AMONUTE (R. Goltz) was checked when racing to the inside of A TAD APART (A. Fancourt) which was racing to the inside of STEEL TO TH HEEL (W. O’ Connell). After taking evidence from all riders involved, and viewing the official patrol footage, stewards could not apportion blame against any rider due to conflicting evidence and inconclusive race patrol footage. All riders were advised however to afford sufficient racing room to their fellow riders.

Approaching the home turn, RIVER BLUES (S. Bogenhuber) had to be steadied away from the heels of MAGIC GLENYCE (L. Tilley), which shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running. L. Tilly, rider of MAGIC GLENYCE, was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
