B. Newport, rider of TOYHERO, was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
Race 2: Charlie Henry Maiden Plate - 1000m
SUCCESSIVE was declared a late scratching at 1 pm after trainer M. Webb advised stewards that the mare had sustained an injury en route to the track.
Trainer S. Neylon was reprimanded for initially presenting TAMBELENE to the enclosure without blinkers, which was part of that horse’s gear.
SWEET SUGAR (T. Jeffries) stood flatfooted at the start and lost significant ground. Trainer M. Webb was advised that SWEET SUGAR would be required to barrier trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
RINGSFIELD (N. Ogura) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly, forcing TAMBELLENE (A. Taylor) in on to CHATEAU D’OR (A. Best). As a consequence, TAMBELLENE and CHATEAU D’OR lost ground.
BOOTALONG (A. Pattillo) was slow to begin and then was hampered by DOCTOR’S ORDERS (R. Ride), which shifted out.
CHATEAU D’OR (A. Best) raced greenly in the early stages.
RINGSFIELD (N. Ogura) was inclined to hang in under pressure in the home straight.
N. Evans, rider of PRIMROSE SKY, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SWEET SUGAR passing the winning post, resulting in SWEET SUGAR having to be steadied from the heels of PRIMROSE SKY.
TAMBELLENE bled from both nostrils. S. Neylon was advised that TAMBELLENE would be barred for a period of 3 months, and would be required to perform in 1000m gallop prior to its next race start.
Race 3: Barts Bar Maiden Plate – 1300m
Correct weight was delayed to allow the connections of the FEYTALISTIC, placed 3rd by the Judge, to view the photo finish print for 2nd. Subsequently, they were satisfied with the decision and correct weight was subsequently declared on the semaphored numbers.
HAPPY ANDYOUKNOWIT was declared a late scratching at 11.55 am after a confirmed telephone call from trainer A. Leonard, advising stewards that the gelding had sustained an injury en route to the track.
BUTCHERS STRIPES (S. Bogenhuber) was tightened for room at the start between KING OF JACKS (A. Fancourt) and STUCK WITH A FINE (T. Jeffries), both of which shifted ground.
WRITTENINTHERAIN (S. Apthorpe) shifted in and made contact with HABITUAL LASS (B. Appo), which was slow into stride.
BUTCHERS STRIPES (S. Bogenhuber) overraced in the early stages.
Near the 600m, BUTCHERS STRIPES had to be momentarily steadied when racing in restricted room between STUCK WITH A FINE (T. Jeffries) and HABITUAL LASS (B. Appo). A short distance later, HABITUAL LASS shifted out and made contact with JUST AS SWEET (D. McIntosh), which became unbalanced.
Near the 450m, BUTCHERS STRIPES faltered for no apparent reason.
KING OF JACKS shied near the 100m, resulting in its rider becoming momentarily unbalanced.
JUST AS SWEET and KING OF JACKS raced wide throughout.
When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of KING OF JACKS, trainer B. Robinson stated the gelding was having its first start for his stable today and that the horse had been working well whilst in his care. Stewards noted the explanation.
Race 4: Dalby & Northern Downs Jockey Club Inc. QTIS 3yo H'cap - 1100m
CARDICIAN (R. Ride) and BRADY ‘N’ ME (S. Bogenhuber) were slow to begin.
Near the 700m, INTERLUDE (A. Best) faltered of its own accord.
Approaching the 500m, BRADY ‘N’ ME shifted out, tightening the running of INTERLUDE (A. Best), which had to be steadied away from the heels of APPROPRIATION (B. Richardson). S. Bogenhuber, rider of BRADY ‘N’ ME, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
APPROPRIATION (B. Richardson) laid in under pressure leaving the 200m.
PUFF’S GIRL (A. Pattillo) raced wide for the majority of the race.
Near the 200m A. Fancourt (FELTON PHANTOM) dropped her near side rein, placing her at a disadvantage until regaining it near the 100m.
A. Pattillo, rider of PUFF’S GIRL, reported that his intention was to take up a forward position, however was unable to cross runners to his inside and as a result was forced to race wide throughout. He added that the performance was not overly disappointing and believed he was a victim of circumstances in being forced to race wide.
A. Best, rider of INTERLUDE, was severely reprimanded for inappropriate audible comments made towards S. Bogenhuber (BRADY ‘N’ ME) after passing the winning post and on return to scale.
B. Richardson, rider of the 5th placegetter, APPROPRIATION, was severely reprimanded for failing to weigh in.
Race 5: Icon Steel Class 1 H'cap - 1400m

Near the 500m, ROCKLEA RAIDER (T. Banks) struck the running rail and became unbalanced.
On entering the home straight, KURRAJONG DRAGON was inclined to hang in under pressure.
ROCKLEA RAIDER (T. Banks) was held up momentarily leaving the 200m and shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running.
SARGENOLY (D. McIntosh), MAY RAIN (S. Apthorpe) and KURRAJONG DRAGON raced wide for the majority of the race.
S. Apthorpe ( MAY RAIN) which performed below market expectations, stated that he felt the mare may have not been suited to the increase in distance from the last start and the fact he was forced to race wide also had a bearing on the performance.
A post-race veterinary examination of BACKSTREET JACK, which weakened from the 600m and finished a distant last, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer D. Peckett was advised that BACKSTREET JACK would be barred from racing at TAB meetings until such time as it establishes more competitive form at country racing venues.
Race 6: Hart Plumbing Class 3 Plate – 1300m
AKBAR MAHAL (R. Geran) overraced in the early stages.
AKBAR MAHAL was held up for clear running leaving the 500m until approaching the home turn.

REPRESENT (D. McIntosh) began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly and lost ground.
PIGGY BANK (A. Pattillo) was tightened for room at the start between ON ICE NOW (A. Taylor) and COVER UP (B. Richardson), which was taken in by DUKE HOUSE (J. Kehoe).
