WEATHER – FINE TRACK – DEAD RAIL – OUT 4M. ALL TRACK
GENERAL: From QTC meeting, 14.5.99
Apprentice G. O’Sullivan, who was overweight, was replaced by J. Stanley on SIRSINGLE in Race 1. G. O’Sullivan was fined $200.
Apprentice G.O’Sullivan was fined $200 after pleading guilty to placing a bet on the Tote prior to race 8.
RACE 1 KING’S THEATRE H’CAP – 2100M.
MORINGA’S FLAME jumped away awkwardly.
Shortly after the start, SIR MARKIE blundered after striking the heels of RED PADDY, which shifted in.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, MORINGA’S FLAME, which was pulling hard, improved to the inside of the heels of LORD KALA, had to be checked across the that ruunner and in doing so made heavy contact with PIERMONT. Whilst stewards acknowledged MORINGA’S FLAME was racing ungenerously at this stage, I. Coombes, rider of LORD KALA, was advised in similar circumstances he must exercise more care when shifting ground.
Near the 1100m., ‘TIS LOVE shifted out from behind the heels of PRINCE PARADOR and in doing so forced SIREC wider on the track.
PRINCE PARADOR, which broke down in the near fore leg and bled from both nostrils during the event, will incur the mandatory 3 month bar from racing.
RACE 2: DISTINCTLY NORTH H’CAP – 1630M.
OLE SUNDOWNER was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, ULOSIS and TREASURE PACK were tightened for room between DONNIE BRASCO and LITTLE ROB, both of which shifted ground.
Near the 1400m., JAMUQUA shifted out, slightly inconveniencing REDAREB.
At the same stage, AQUAEUS, when being steadied off the heels of GOLDEN SON, shifted in and made contact with SILENT ASSASSIN.
Both SEA HARVEY and AQUAEUS raced fiercely in the middle stages.
After leaving the 800m., AQUAEUS shifted out abruptly, forcing LITTLE ROB wider on the track.
Making the home turn, when improving to the inside of HEAVENLY BELLE, SILENT ASSASSIN brushed the rail.
RACE 3: JOINT VENTURE ADVERTSIING H’CAP – 1350M.
TEST RUN and STATELY ROSE, which were both slow to begin, were tightened shortly after the start by MONGKE, which shifted in.
BICUSPID was forced to race wide throughout the event.
Near the 800m., BISTRO MONEY had to be steadied off the heels of DASHING IMAGE when the pace eased.
Shortly after entering the straight, DASHING IMAGE shifted out to improve and in doing so make contact with DAPPLES.
RACE 4: QBBS CHIEF DE BEERS FAREWELL SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H’CAP – 1200M.
SAVAGE CITY reared as the gates opened and lost ground.
Approaching the first turn, MAELSTROM, which was racing ungenerously, had to be steadied when briefly tightened by LUCKY RAID, which was taken in by ALL CHEER. O. Bosson, rider of ALL CHEER, was advised to exercise more care.
Near the 900m., MAELSTROM was tightened for room by LUCKY RAID, which was taken in slightly by ALL CHEER.
After leaving the 600m., LIVID had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MARCELO, which shifted in. M. Privato, rider of MARCELO, was advised to exercise more care in future when shifting ground. M. Cahill, rider of LIVID, reported that the filly was inclined to race ungenerously after being crossed by MARCELO.
At the entrance to the straight, GAY REVENGER shifted out to improve and made contact with LUCKY RAID.
MAELSTROM was held up for clear running from the entrance to the straight until the 200m..
Over the concluding stages, ANNUNCIATION had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ALL CHEER, which shifted in.
RACE 5: GLENLOGAN PARK STAKES – 1350M.
GROUSE LANE shifted in on jumping away, hampering TOASTED GOLD.
C. Reith, rider of ONCE UPON A CRIME, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he allowed his mount to shift in near the 1100m. when not clear of GROUSE LANE, which in turn was taken in on to CORONATION WAYS, causing that filly to be severely checked, and in doing so tightening the running of MARDI’S MAGIC and TOASTED GOLD. C. Reith was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 9 meetings, to commence at midnight, 20 June and to expire at midnight, 3 July 1999. As a result of this incident, PLANET ZAM, which was following, shifted out to avoid CORONATION WAYS and in doing so forced DARMALA out on to FOXWOOD. DEVER’S GOLD, which was also racing behind these horses, was hampered in consequence.
At the entrance to the straight, DARMALA was tightened for room between ANNALEA and PLANET ZAM, which shifted out.
Near the 200m., ONCE UPON A CRIME shifted in slightly inconveniencing DRAMA AMOUR.
A veterinary examination of TOASTED GOLD following the event revealed the mare to have quartered the inside heel on the off fore leg.
RACE 6: QBBS YEARLING SALES SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H’CAP – 1200M.
GRAND EXPRESS was very slow to begin.
BRIAR’S ARMY jumped away awkwardly
Shortly after the start, SWIRLER shifted in and made heavy contact with KING CAL.
FRENCH CREST commenced to hang out after leaving the 800m. and continued to do so for the remainder of the event. Trainer K. Man was advised that FRENCH CREST would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
Approaching the 600m., TANGO MUSIC shifted out abruptly, forcing HUGE YEAR to be steadied and FRISKY STAR to race wider on the track.
Near the 200m., FRENCH RAVEN attempted a narrow run between SWIRLER and KING CAL where there was insufficient room, and as a result made contact with KING CAL. FRENCH RAVEN was then held up for some distance when unable to improve.
A veterinary examination of GRAND EXPRESS, which performed disappointingly, failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 7: TEN NEWS Q BBS CLASSIC – 1350M.
MY MAKRISCA was slow to begin.
MADAME CHINOIS jumped awkwardly and shifted in, hampering MY MAKRISCA.
Shortly after the start, LORD ALANNON shifted in and made contact with NELL’S TREASURE, forcing that horse on to the hind quarters of CHAMBA, resulting in CHAMBA being turned out. As a consequence of this pressure, NELL’S TREASURE had to be checked. Approaching the 1200m., LORD ALANNON had to be checked when tightened for room between CHAMBA, which continued to shifted out, and MADAME CHINOIS, which was taken in by PAPAL. Whilst stewards were of the opinion that CHAMBA had contributed to the incident by shifting out, C. Rixon, rider of PAPAL, was advised to exercise more care.
Passing the 800m., IMPEACHABLE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of VIKINGS, which shifted in.
STUMPY JESTER shifted in and brushed the rail near the 600m. when tightened for room by PAPAL.
Near the 500m., HIRSCHBERG had to be steadied when tightened for room between LORD ALANNON, which was taken in by IMPEACHABLE, and CHAMBA, which shifted out when being steadied.
Near the 250m., LORD ALANNON shifted out, which resulted in IMPEACHABLE having to be steadied and alter course to the outside. LUNGU and FAVOUR THE BRAVE both shifted wider on the track as a result of this incident.
HIRSCHBERG had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 100m..
RACE 8: QBBS BONUSES H’CAP – 1200M.
WESTERN DALE blundered on jumping away.
JUST A CUDDLE was slow to begin.
Making the first turn, CAR CLUB shifted out and had to be checked off the heels of HENRY.
ROYAL CHALICE had to alter course near the 250m. to obtain clear running and then was held up over the concluding stages.
Near the 150m., SULI, which was tiring, shifted out and made contact with OUR SILVER LINING.
Approaching the 100m., SULI had to be steadied when tightened for room between OUR SILVER LINING shifted in slightly and CAR CLUB, which shifted out under pressure.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
