WEATHER – FINE TRACK – FAST RAIL – IN TRUE POSITION
RACE 1: ANTHONY’S FINE JEWELLERY H'CAP - 1615M
SHAHNE TARTAN was slow to begin.
From the home turn until after passing the 200m SHAHNE TARTAN was held up behind SOMETHING SVELTE.
DALQUARREN suffered a bleeding attack during the event. The mare will incur a mandatory three month ban from racing. A swab sample was taken from DALQUARREN.
RACE 2: TABLE EIGHT H'CAP - 2100M
BOLD DAN was very slow to begin.
After obtaining a narrow run to the inside of OUR GEORGE at the 200m, PACIFIC PLAZA soon afterwards had to be steadied when cramped for room by OUR GEORGE which was taken back in slightly by GRAND ESCAPE.
RACE 3: ANSETT AUSTRALIA H'CAP - 1110M
TRAVELLIN’ MAN was a late withdrawal at 7.48 a.m.
At the 700m TURPENTINE had to be checked and APPALACHE was hampered as a result of being tightened for room between ON VENTURA HIWAY and LUCKY RAID, both of which shifted ground slightly.
At the 250m ON VENTURA HIWAY was inconvenienced by HABITATIS which shifted out around the heels of SCORSESE.
APPALACHE and FINAL BID were held up for clear running over the final 100m.
SEASONED STAR bled during the event. Trainer R Sutton was advised that the horse would incur a mandatory three month ban from racing. A swab sample was taken from SEASONED STAR.
RACE 4: WINTERGARDEN SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1110M
Prior to the start being effected HUGE REGAL broke through the front gates, however travelled only a short distance before being restrained. HUGE REGAL was passed fit to start.
After travelling 50m ZAMCAY raced greenly and was inclined to shift in and away from TURNPIKE, resulting in that horse making contact with LOOP THE LOUP.
RACE 5: CREDIT SUISSE FIRST BOSTON H'CAP - 1200M
As G Colless was to be overweight, G Palmer was substituted as the rider of ANNABELLE’S PRIDE. G Colless was fined $200.
ANNABELLE’S PRIDE was slow to begin.
At the 50m STRIKES TWICE had to be steadied when tightened for room by FORGING’S LAD which at that stage shifted out around the heels of STUNTMAN to obtain clear running. J Stanley, the rider of FORGING’S LAD, was reprimanded.
RACE 6: HONG KONG – CITY OF LIFE H'CAP - 1615M
MARAUDING ROGUE was slow to begin.
NOVA blundered badly at the start and lost ground.
At the 1300m as CHINDANCER attempted to shift out to relieve tightening to MARAUDING ROGUE, that horse made contact with the hind quarters of JIMBOOMBA JACK, resulting in both JIMBOOMBA JACK and CHINDANCER becoming unbalanced.
A veterinary examination of JIMBOOMBA JACK, which performed disappointingly, failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 7: GREG MEEK TRIBUTE SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1350M
Trainer B Brown was fined $50 for failing to ensure that HALLABALOO was presented on course by the prescribed time.
POLAR PRINCESS was very slow to begin.
TRI MIRACLE jumped inwards at the start, tightening HOT ASH SLAY on to LUNGU.
MAY ROYAL blundered at the start.
The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that POINT returned to the enclosure with blood in its off nostril as a consequence of a laceration inside the nostril.
RACE 8: MOET & CHANDON H'CAP - 1350M
GRAND CAYMAN was held up for clear running over the final 200m.
Approaching the 100m MAGIC ZAP shifted out and made contact with TERJULE. A short distance later TERJULE had to be restrained to avoid the heels of MAGIC ZAP which at that stage shifted out to obtain clear running. O Bosson, the rider of MAGIC ZAP, was severely reprimanded in relation to this incident.
ALL WINNERS, DALQUARREN AND SEASONED STAR WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
