WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - OUT 3.5M. ALL TRACK
RACE 1: NAPOLEON SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1350M.
As M. Aspinall was indisposed S. Katsidis was substituted as the rider of AGITATOR and TALBINGO LAD (Race 3).
LEGEND MATERIAL and EPSOM HAIGE were both a little slow to begin.
Approaching the 1000m., LEGEND MATERIAL got its head up when racing ungenerously and shifted out taking CORNICHE BAY and BABYLON QUEEN wider on the track.
Passing the 800m., CORNICHE BAY had to be steadied off the heels of AGITATOR.
On straightening, CORNICHE BAY had to be steadied when CHAMPION OF DANES and AGITATOR shifted out to improve.
RACE 2: COVERS VALENTINE'S DAY H'CAP - 1650M.
SKINNER'S REVENGE and TONTORE both jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact.
BLESSED TYCOON was a little slow to jump.
Rounding the first turn when racing in restricted room inside GENTEEL BOY and ASONIA, BLESSED TYCOON struck the running rail.
ANSONIA was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages of the event
A veterinary examination of DARK REEF following the race revealed no abnormality.
RACE 3: JUPITER'S ZANZIBAR H'CAP - 1650M.
CAPANNELLE was slow to begin.
PEPPEN BAY and TALBINGO LAD both jumped awkwardly.
After travelling a short distance, ESSWORR commenced to race fiercely and rounding the first turn got its head up and ran wide.
S. Galloway reported that as a consequence of ESSWORR pulling hard and being forced to lead, the colt failed to run out the distance of the race.
Approaching the 1000m., AZALEA shifted in and momentarily tightened RED COUNTESS.
RACE 4: NETWORK TEN H'CAP - 2240M.
ANOTHER ROAD was a little slow to jump.
DESK TOP LOVER shifted out making the first turn.
Stewards questioned trainer B. Brown concerning the seemingly disappointing performance of MY LYSLANDER LAD. Mr Brown explained that D. Griffin reported that the horse had travelled well until the 600m., however raced under pressure from that point and appeared to be disappointing and did not finish the race off as expected. Mr Brown added that the horse had received a set back in its preparation for today's race in that the horse, being a stayer, it had missed some vital hard work recently due to the wet weather which had closed the grass training track.
A veterinary examination of MY LYSLANDER LAD following the event failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 5: MERCEDES-BENZ H'CAP - 1200M.
A warning was issued to the connections of PAROLE, which proved difficult to load.
SUGARHOUSE jumped outwards at the start, making contact with KUAKA QUEEN.
VIVID MISS, after jumping in and making contact with PAROLE, shifted out shortly after, coming into contact with GOSETTE.
Rounding the first turn, SHANKADI had to be steadied off the heels of DITTYDOO. MISS SACHA and GOSETTE, which were trailing, both had to be steadied to avoid heels in this incident.
SHANKADI shifted out to improve on the home turn, taking DITTYDOO and KUAKA QUEEN wider on the track.
RACE 6: HAWKINS GARDENWAY H'CAP - 1200M.
Rounding the home turn, RULENZA ROAD shifted out to improve, causing ZACHUA to be tightened. J. Byrne, rider of RULENZA ROAD, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
RACE 7: COR CORZ DOOMBEN DASH - 1030M.
As N. Evans was indisposed, Z. Purton was substituted as the rider of FAVOURITE PRINCESS.
GOLDEN PEAK and MISTER I AM were both slow to begin.
Passing the 100m., GOLDEN PEAK shifted in under pressure and hampered SUDDEN TREASURE. At this point, J. Byrne, rider of GOLDEN PEAK, stopped riding his mount. A veterinary examination of GOLDEN PEAK following the race revealed the horse was short its action in the near fore leg.
RACE 8: THE HAT BOX H'CAP - 1350M.
SHEIKH was slow to begin.
SHEIKH pulled hard after leaving the 1000m. and shifted wider making the first turn.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
