WEATHER - OVERCAST TRACK - DEAD/DOWNGRADED FROM GOOD AT 10.40AM.
RAIL - TRUE POSITION
RACE 1: ARTHUR ANDERSEN H'CAP - 1350M.
No racing incidents.
RACE 2: MERCEDES-BENZ H'CAP - 1200M.
No racing incidents.
RACE 3: MINCOM H'CAP - 2100M.
Apprentice A. Merritt was fined $100 for negligence in that he weighed out for his mount on HURRY HURRY without stirrup irons. This necessitated the aforementioned gear having to be fitted in the enclosure.
On the home turn, HURRY HURRY shifted in and bumped SEA SERENADE, which commenced to lose ground. A veterinary examination of SEA SERENADE, which compounded badly over the concluding stages, revealed that gelding to be sore in the near hind leg.
When questioned, A. Merritt stated that despite being slapped up in the initial stages of the event, HURRY HURRY did not show its anticipated early speed and settled further back in the field than was anticipated.
RACE 4: RAJ LAWYERS H'CAP - 1200M.
SILVER CANON knuckled over the start and lost ground, and soon afterwards had to be steadied off the heels of ALFRED THE GREAT, which shifted in. A veterinary examination of SILVER CANON subsequent to the event revealed the gelding to be short in its action.
CRYPTIC RED jumped away awkwardly with its head in the air.
At the 150m., D. Griffin, rider of CHEMICAL BROTHER, had his whip knocked from his grasp by the whip of N. Evans, rider of RAPPAREE.
SPORTS FREAK suffered a bleeding attack during the event. As this was the first occasion on which the gelding had bled, a mandatory 3 month ban from racing will be applied.
When questioned, S. Galloway stated that POWER AND EGO, which tailed off throughout the event, failed to handle the soft track.
RACE 5: WANLESS WASTECORP GOLDEN STAKES SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES - 1200M.
PEDRO'S TYCOON jumped inwards at the start and made contact with STAR OF ST. COVET.
After being impeded for a run to the inside of PRESENTLY for some distance passing the 200m., STAR OF ST. COVET continued to make contact with that runner in the run to the finish line.
A veterinary examination of COLOUR ME SPECIAL, which tailed off, failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 6: WESTPAC H'CAP - 1615M.
No incidents.
RACE 7: COURIER-MAIL CLASSIC SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES - 1350M.
MARLINA jumped inwards at the start, severely hampering CEFYL.
Leaving the 1200m., RAPID MAN was obliged to shift out abruptly off the heels of STARS IN BARS.
RAPID MAN then commenced to overrace in the run to the 1000m. and had to be restrained off the heels of PIMPALA PLAYER. CEFFYL, which was following, improved up inside the heels of RAPID MAN at that stage, causing THUNDERMAN to be hampered.
RACE 8: CITY ROWERS H'CAP - 1010M.
Soon after the start, both MAKE MINE MAGIC and PLEASURE GIVER were hampered when crowded between UMBHANI and DYNAMIC LOVE, both of which shifted ground slightly.
Passing the 400m., MAKE MINE MAGIC floundered in the going.
Approaching the 200m., MAKE MINE MAGIC then raced in restricted room between PLEASURE GIVER and MR. NEWMARKET, which shifted out.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
