BRISBANE TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT WED. 12.09.01

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr A Reardon (Chairman), Mr G Ireland, Mr J Hackett, Mr R Sanders, Ms S Gillespie (Cadet)

WEATHER – FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL – OUT 8M

RACE 1: CHIEF DE BEERS H'CAP – 1350M

As G Colless was to be overweight, J Taylor was substituted as the rider of DAMIKA. G Colless was fined $100.

After leaving the 600m, when shifting out to improve from behind the heels of KNATMEG, CULTURED PEARL made contact with OBLIGE.

RACE 2: FLITTER H'CAP – 2240M

KARAVAS, which finished last, was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon who reported that he could detect no abnormality.

RACE 3: SUNTAIN H'CAP – 1110M

ASTUTE GIRL jumped awkwardly and shifted out and made contact with the hind quarters of HARD BID and lost ground.

MOTIVATE also jumped awkwardly.

HARD BID and MISTER OMEGA were forced to race wide throughout.

Over the concluding stages MOTIVATE was held up for clear running.

For some distance in the straight THREATNER hung in, despite the efforts of its rider A Russell, tightening the running of DIAL A STAR, and on the finishing line shifted in further when briefly tightened by CENTONA. As a result of this tightening, DIAL A STAR had to be checked. M Cahill, the rider of CENTONA, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

RACE 4: BAROSSA BOY H'CAP – 1200M

FREE RADICAL jumped awkwardly and shifted out making heavy contact with MODERN STYLE.

SAHARA FLIER jumped inwards at the start and made contact with GENERAL'S REVENGE.

Shortly after the start HALVAH shifted out hampering NO TOMORROW, UP THERE, GENERAL'S REVENGE, FREE RADICAL and MODERN STYLE.

Near the 600m UP THERE, when improving to the inside of NO TOMORROW, shifted in, brushed the running rail and was checked.

Near the 500m GENERAL'S REVENGE, when steadying off the heels of ULTRA MODERN, shifted out and made contact with MODERN STYLE.

PARIS PIKE was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

RACE 5: LAURIE'S LOTTERY H'CAP – 1350M

As M Pelling was indisposed after his ride in Race 2, J Taylor was substituted as the rider of MY PAL AL.

R Pittman requested that the Club's veterinary surgeon inspect GOLDEN DUO prior to the start as he was of the opinion that the horse may be slightly sore. GOLDEN DUO was passed fit to run.

GOLDEN DUO, which was inclined to hang out after leaving the 600m, was inspected by the Club's veterinary surgeon who reported that the gelding was slightly sore in the off foreleg.

RACE 6: MAURIE BURKE H'CAP – 1200M

KEL'S GAL was slow to begin.

SNIPPETS' JEWEL jumped awkwardly.

JUST PRECIOUS shifted out at the start, taking KATE CELESTE out on to STOCKINETTE, which in turn shifted out and made contact with GOBI GABBANA which had to be checked.

Both KATE CELESTE and JUST PRECIOUS were forced to race wide throughout.

RACE 7: 2001 GOODWILL GAMES FORCE ONE H'CAP – 1200M

STRIKE FORCE was slow to begin.

Over the concluding stages BATON was inclined to hang in under pressure.

RACE 8: ACCOMPLICE H'CAP – 1350M

DOFF and GOLD BOLERO were slow to begin.

DOFF raced fiercely in the early stages.

Passing the 800m PROJECT shifted in and brushed the running rail.

POTESTAS was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

Inside the 200m CHIEF DAHAR shifted in abruptly when placed under full pressure.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
