WEATHER - OVERCAST TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 4M. ALL TRACK
RACE 1: FRITZ H'CAP - 1200M.
No racing incidents.
RACE 2: KENCONCARNE H'CAP - 1110M.
Shortly after the start, IMMILUSTIG shifted in, taking SEAENZA in on to the hind quarters of JUST THE DROP.
JUST THE DROP commenced to hang out after leaving the 800m. and continued to do so for the remainder of the event. Trainer R. McCall was advised that a warning would be placed on JUST THE DROP in relation to its racing manners.
COURTLY TRUMP was obliged to race wide throughout the event.
RACE 3: PLAY STATION H'CAP - 1630M.
MICKEY BLUE EYES commenced to pull hard near the 1400m. and shifted out on the first turn, forcing SIDEKICK wider on the track. MICKEY BLUE EYES then continued to race ungenerously for some distance.
Near the 600m., MICKEY BLUE EYES, which improved quickly, shifted in, tightening the running of MANABOZHO, which had to be steadied off the heels of SUPERIOR ECHO.
EBONY HALO was held up for clear running from approaching the 400m. until nearing the 100m..
RACE 4: MOET & CHANDON H'CAP - 1200M.
CELTIC DANE jumped awkwardly.
Shortly after the start, KWILTIME shifted in and made heavy contact with STERNER, which resulted in SAHARA MACA, which was racing to the inside of STERNER, having to be checked.
After leaving the 800m., TANIWHA had to be continually restrained off the heels of CELTIC DANE.
Near the 500m., SAHARA MACA shifted out despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in TANIWHA being checked when taken out across the heels of STERNER. At the same stage, CELTIC DANE commenced to hang out slightly.
In the straight, SAHARA MACA was inclined to shift out under pressure, and near the 50m. brushed CELTIC DANE.
CELTIC DANE lost its off hind plate in running.
RACE 5: ZARIZ H'CAP - 1350M.
Near the 900m., BLOCK had to be restrained off the heels of TYKE MY SON, which shifted in.
For some distance rounding the home turn, COMET DANCER was held up for clear running, and approaching the 300m. was disappointed for a run between TYKE MY SON, which shifted in slightly, and the tiring JENIBRIA.
A swab sample was taken from KARAMAZOU.
RACE 6: NETWORK TEN H'CAP - 1110M.
Near the 600m., LADY ISABELLA shifted out to improve and made contact with MARAUDING LASS, forcing that horse wider on the track.
Apprentice M. Rodd was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MISS MARTINDALE. M. Rodd stated that whilst the filly had sprawled on jumping away, she travelled extremely well throughout the race, however when placed under pressure near the 300m., MISS MARTINDALE failed to respond. M. Rodd was unable to offer any excuse for the filly. Trainer K. Tinsley was also unable to offer any explanation, and undertook to advise stewards of anything that may come to his attention in the days following the race that may have had some bearing on the filly's disappointing performance. A swab sample was taken from MISS MARTINDALE following a veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 7: EXCEL EVENTS H'CAP - 1630M.
Near the 1400m., TITTLE TAT shifted in and away from MISS LUCIAN and as a result tightened the running of WINSTED.
Rounding the home turn, WINSTED was held up for clear running behind ON VENTURA HIWAY.
RACE 8: MARLINA H'CAP - 1200M.
CONEEDA slipped behind on jumping away and lost considerable ground.
JUST FANTASY, which was slowly away, was hampered shortly after the start by ALTERED, which shifted out.
Near the 900m., JUST FANTASY had to be checked off the heels of ALTERED when that horse steadied momentarily.
Passing the 700m., BONDARA shifted out after having to be steadied off the heels of CANTERINA.
OUTBACK OPUS shifted out under pressure in the straight.
ALL WINNERS, MISS MARTINDALE AND KARAMAZOU WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
