BRISBANE TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT WED.23.7.03

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr A. Reardon, (Chairman), Mr G. Ireland, Mr C. McLune, Mr D. Hensler, Mr C. Waller (Cadet).

WEATHER - OVERCAST TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 4.5M. ALL TRACK


RACE 1: BRISBANE GRAMMAR SCHOOL H'CAP - 1200M.

ADVANTAGE PLUS jumped awkwardly and shifted in, making heavy contact with BRUNT.

Near the 1100m., DANARIA shifted in and made contact with the hind quarters of SECRET STRIKE.

Approaching the 1000m., SIOUXMAN shifted out, taking SECRET STRIKE out on to DANARIA. SECRET STRIKE then became unbalanced and then had to be checked when further tightened for room between SIOUXMAN and GREAT MEMORY, which was taken in by INVERLEIGH LAD, which shifted in away from TINYBOW. As a result, DANARIA had to be checked off the heels of SECRET STRIKE, resulting in BRUNT having to shift out to avoid that horse's heels.

GLASSHOUSE was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Near the 50m., ISHKHAN shifted in under pressure and made contact with BRUNT.

RACE 2: XXXX H'CAP - 1350M.

As A. Russell was indisposed, N. Day was substituted as the rider of SUNDAY SUNRISE, and ZACOBBA (Race 4).

COLEYVILLE ROAD was slow to begin.

Passing the 300m., PAUILLAC LASS was inconvenienced when tightened for room between MISTER MINUTE and SIGNATORY, which shifted out.

Near the 150m. PAUILLAC LASS again was impeded for room between SIGNATORY and MISTER MINUTE, which shifted in when tiring.

J. Byrne and C. Whiteley were examined by the club's doctor after riding in this event and were stood down from their remaining engagements. The following replacements were approved: J. Byrne: Race 3 - A THOUSAND DEGREES - D. Tanti; Race 4 - MORRIS MINOR - J. Taylor; Race 6 - OZIOZIOZI - N. Day. C. Whiteley: Race 4. STELLA SPECTRA - J. Stanley; Race 5. UPPITY - K. Pope; Race 7. STRIDERITE - A. Kennedy.


RACE 3: DRIVERS SYNDICATIONS H'CAP - 2030M.

SEVERENCE was a late scratching at 12.07 p.m. on veterinary advice when that gelding was found to sore in the off fore tendon.

TOOLBOX jumped awkwardly.

A THOUSAND DEGREES was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

Close to the finish line, LAIR shifted in and brushed TOOLBOX.

Z. Purton was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CAP JUAN. He stated that the colt never travelled well throughout the event and was inclined to hang out on every turn. A veterinary examination of CAP JUAN failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken.


RACE 4: CHURCHIE H'CAP - 1630M.

G. Baker was examined by the club's doctor after riding in race 1 and was stood down from his engagement on TIMESTO.

TIMESTO was slow to begin.

MORRIS MINOR jumped outwards at the start and made contact with KUTISHA'S BOY.

TIMESTO pulled hard in the early and middle stages.

Near the 100m., EYES FOREVER shifted in, taking DANSKER in on to LILY'S CONFOY, which had to be steadied off the heels of KUTISHA'S BOY.

A veterinary examination of MORRIS MINOR following the event revealed the gelding to be sore in the off fore leg.


RACE 5: QRU H'CAP - 1200M.

Permission was granted for IN CONTROL to race without plates on both hind legs due to that mare being unable to be replated.

I'M YOURS cast its off fore plate on jumping away.

Near the 900m., TIME'S PRECIOUS had to be steadied to avoid the heels of COTTON BRAE, which shifted in.

At the 800m., when steadying off the heels of OODLES 'N' BOODLES, COUNTRY PACK shifted out, taking DRAGON DELITE out on to CABARU QUEEN. This enabled COTTON BRAE to improve quickly to the inside of COUNTRY PACK.

Near the 700m., TIME'S PRECIOUS commenced to overrace and had to be checked off the heels of COTTON BRAE. TIME'S PRECIOUS then shifted out, inconveniencing GAELIC HONOUR.

At the entrance to the straight, SUMMER EYES shifted out to improve and made contact with COUNTRY PACK. For a short distance, SUMMER EYES was held up for clear running.





RACE 6: TRIPLE M H'CAP - 1110M.

Trainer G. Burns was advised that STYLISH DESIGN would not be permitted to run as the Document of Description was not in order and was withdrawn at 2.24 p.m., however notification of the scratching was not officially advised until 2.50 p.m.. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on STYLISH DESIGN were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 2 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time of 2.50 p.m..

DARBY was slow to begin.

ON THE LIST jumped away awkwardly

Shortly after the start, INNER CITY shifted out and made contact with ON THE LIST.

After passing the 800m., INNER CITY raced fiercely when being restrained off the heels of OZIOZIOZI.

Rounding the home turn, INNER CITY was held up for clear running.

ON THE LIST was obliged to race wide throughout the event.


RACE 7: BRISBANE RIVERVIEW HOTEL H'CAP - 1350M.

STRIDERITE was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1200m., MOISEEV was inclined to lay in and as a result made contact with the hind quarters of REGALESTO.

After leaving the 1100m., LINCOLN ROAD had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ALL IN AWE, which shifted in. M. Rodd, rider of ALL IN AWE, was advised to be fully clear in future when shifting ground. In this incident, LINCOLN ROAD was taken in on to MOISEEV.

BE THERE was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

Approaching the 200m., ALL IN AWE shifted out, inconveniencing MOISEEV.

Near the 100m., BELLE PAREZ shifted in, inconveniencing MOISEEV.


RACE 8: VIP CABS COURIERS & LIMOUSINES H'CAP - 1200M.

ENCLAVE lost its off fore plate in running. The club's veterinary surgeon reported that ENCLAVE had sustained a small laceration to the near hind leg.
