When questioned as to the performance of GRAND SEMI, D. Craven stated that the horse was never travelling well throughout the event and when placed under pressure prior to the home turn, the gelding only responded fairly. Trainer M. Craven, who was also questioned regarding the performance, stated that the horse had worked well leading up to today's event and he was of the opinion that GRAND SEMI was in better condition than when it had won at Eagle Farm on 13 August. Mr Craven undertook to report to stewards if anything came to light which might explain the run. A veterinary examination of GRAND SEMI failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken.
Trainer R. Heathcote will be interviewed as to the improved performance of TYALGUM POP compared with its efforts on 16 August at Eagle Farm.

When questioned as to the tactics he adopted on GOOD LUCK, J. Stanley stated that he was instructed to position the horse close to the rail and not to race wide approaching the 800m. He added that from the wide barrier he endeavoured to fulfil the instructions and as a result was obliged to race at the rear of the field. Trainer P. Strong confirmed the instructions given to J. Stanley as he was of the belief that GOOD LUCK would not be able to obtain a position near the lead because of the barrier, however he had not expected the colt to be at the rear of the field. His explanation was noted. Trainer P. Strong informed stewards that GOOD LUCK will now be sent for a spell.
