WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 1M. ALL TRACK
RACE 1: GIANNIS RESTAURANT H'CAP - 1615M.
C. Spry was replaced by P. Hammersley as the rider of SON OF ROSSI after C. Spry experienced transport difficulties travelling to the racecourse.
MERV'S WISH got its head up and raced ungenerously leaving the 800m. turn, and was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
RACE 2: TRIPLE M PARTY WEEK H'CAP - 1350M.
MR BENSON and HUZZAH made contact on jumping away.
Leaving the 1200m., TELTREE made contact with FINAL DANCE when being eased to avoid the heels of GRANDWAY CHAMP, which shifted in.
Near the 900m., TELTREE shifted in and away from the heels of INDARAMA and made contact with FINAL DANCE. After coming in contact with FINAL DANCE, TELTREE then shifted back out and clipped the heels of INARAMA and blundered. Whilst TELTREE had made contact with INDARAMA in this incident when that horse was forward of it, M. Williamson, rider of INDARAMA, was nonetheless reprimanded and advised to provide sufficient clearance when crossing.
TELTREE and HUZZAH both raced wide for the majority of the race.
RACE 3: SE QLD FIREFIGHTERS H'CAP - 1350M.
Passing the 1200m., CAMP EDEN shied away from the running rail and shifted out, hampering BELLE'S ODYSSEY.
Near the 300m., LOULI, when under pressure, was inclined to shift in and away from PLATINUM HUSSY, momentarily cramping the racing room of PRINCESS TATSUTA.
RACE 4: CREATING SERENDIPITY H'CAP - 1200M.
Approaching the 700m., SUITS JOE improved up on to the heels of FOXXY CLEO and shifted out, making contact with MY CAPRI, forcing that horse to become unbalanced. SUITS JOE then shifted back nearer the rails and this resulted in ASCENSION having to be eased off the heels of SUITS JOE. SEA SCRIPT, which was trailing, also had to be restrained to avoid heels.
After being bumped by SUITS JOE, MY CAPRI raced ungenerously and near the 600m., BRUNT had to be restrained away from that horse's heels.
SUITS JOE was crowded rounding the home turn as a result of MY CAPRI racing ungenerousy.
Near the 250m., SUCCESSFUL HABIT was inclined to shift in under pressure and made contact with the hind quarters of BRUNT.
RACE 5: WOMEN IN FINANCE H'CAP - 1110M.
P. Hammersley, rider of CUT IT OUT, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 850m. when insufficiently clear of NORTHERN JESTER, resulting in NORTHERN JESTER being taken in on to MUKANIC, which had to be checked. P. Hammersley was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 20 September, and to expire at midnight, 2 October 2003.
RACE 6: RACING RETRO H'CAP - 2020M.
LILY'S CONFOY passed a veterinary examination behind the barriers after the horse had dislodged its rider in the saddling enclosure.
STAR INVADER jumped outwards at the start, hampering MISTER BRAIN.
PRINCE RATAVA jumped awkwardly.
THUNDERBURST was cramped for room between JACKSON and PRINCE RATAVA when both horses shifted ground near the 400m..
RACE 7: SKY CHANNEL DOOMBEN DASH H'CAP - 1010M.
No incidents.
RACE 8: FAA H'CAP - 1350M.
DIOCLES was slow to begin.
CRUSHED ICE jumped awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with BULL POWER.
Shortly after the start, GABIETTE shifted out and impeded CRUSHED ICE.
Stewards questioned N. Day and trainer L. Birchley in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance of CRUSHED ICE. N. Day stated after losing ground at the start, he endeavoured to gain a forward position, however when being eased off the heels of ANTARES for some distance approaching the 1000m., the horse got its head up and raced ungenerously. N. Day stated that CRUSHED ICE was under pressure prior to the home turn and failed to respond to his riding and he felt that the horse may be coming to the end of its campaign. Trainer L. Birchley agreed that the performance was disappointing and confirmed that the horse would now be sent for to be spelled.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
