BRISBANE TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SAT.22.5.04

WEATHER - OVERCAST TRACK - GOOD RAIL - TRUE


RACE 1: JIMMY BARNES AT NCF DOOMBEN H'CAP - 1200M.

As G. Childs failed to arrive on course in time to fulfil his engagement on PARMENA, R. Wheeler was substituted as the rider of that filly.

After leaving the 600m., DANE NEWS commenced to race fiercely and shifted out from behind the heels of AWESOME WARRIOR and made heavy contact with SIR SUCCESS near the 500m..

After leaving the 200m., when attempting to improve to the outside of the heels of IDYLLIC DREAM, DIAMONDS AND CHALK had to be steadied. AWESOME WARRIOR, which was following, had to be steadied in this incident.

Inside the 50m., DIDNEDA had to be steadied when tightened for room between PARMENA, which shifted out, and SIR SUCCESS, which shifted in. Whilst it was acknowledged that PARMENA shifted out in this incident, S. Seamer, rider of SIR SUCCESS, was nevertheless reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in when not clear.

Both AWESOME WARRIOR and DIAMONDS AND CHALK failed to obtain clear running in the straight.

DEERHILL was obliged to race wide throughout the race.


RACE 2: SKY CHANNEL DASH H'CAP - 1010M.

Approaching the 100m., LA SERENADE was held up for clear running behind OUR FAVIO.

A veterinary examination of MASINDOR failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 3: GLENLOGAN PARK STAKES H'CAP - 1350M.

As S. Katsidis was to be overweight on CELESTIA and DELLWOOD DANCER (Race 6), as no senior rider was available, apprentice Y. Yamazaki was substituted as the rider of CELESTIA, and R. Wheeler as the rider of DELLWOOD DANCER.

SHA ALMA was slow to begin.

VIVID MISS jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, taking SUMMER FABLE in on to WITH MY, which had to be checked after being tightened on to the hind quarters of STAR OF FLIGHT.

When the pace steadied after leaving the 800m., SUMMER FABLE had to be restrained off the heels of KAVORKA and shifted out, forcing CELESTIA wider on the track.
Inside the 200m., VICTORY GROVE shifted out and away from GWEN'S RULES, taking KAVORKA out on to CALAWAY GAL, which was tightened on to the hind quarters of VIVID MISS and had to be checked. S. Galoway, rider of VICTORY GROVE, reported the filly hung out after leaving the 800m. and continued to do so for the remainder of the event.

G. Boss, rider of WITH MY was questioned as to his riding out of the mare over the concluding stages. He stated that close to the finish line he was obliged to steady WITH ME as he had no clear running forward of him. The explanation was noted.

VICTORY GROVE was obliged to race wide throughout.


RACE 4: NORTHERN CITY FINANCE CHAMPAGNE CLASSIC - 1200M.

STORM MOSS shifted in at the start, taking SEQUALO FAIR in on to COLONEL'S CHOICE.

CHALKBOARD jumped outwards at the start, hampering AEMILEE, which was also slow to begin.

At approximately the 1000m., COLONEL'S CHOICE had to be steadied off the heels of LORDS A LEAPING.

Near the 500m., KANETOSHI MILLIONS, which was racing ungenerously, shifted in, making contact with STAR SHIRAZ, which became unbalanced.

GOLDEN FOX shifted out on the home turn to improve and made contact with OUR SWEET MOSS.

D. Craven was dislodged from KANETOSHI MILLIONS after the finish line. D. Craven escaped any injuries. A veterinary examination of KANETOSHI MILLIONS, revealed the gelding had sustained lacerations to all 4 legs.

A veterinary examination of COLONEL'S CHOICE failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 5: BRISBANE RIVERVIEW HOTEL DOOMBEN ROSES - 2020M.

Apprentice K. Cunningham reported that AURORA ANORA got its leg caught in the partition prior to the start being effected and as a result as the gates were released AURORA ANORA blundered, almost dislodging K. Cunningham. A veterinary examination of AURORA ANORA following the event revealed the filly had sustained multiple lacerations to the inside of the near hind pastern.

After passing the 1600m., VICTORY HIGHWAY shifted out abruptly and then again near the 1500m., almost dislodging jockey D. Beadman. Trainer P. Cunningham was advised that a warning was being placed on the racing manners of VICTORY HIGHWAY.

ROSE OF KWILA was obliged to race wide in the middle stages.

Making the home turn, BRIDE BELLE shifted out, taking ROSE OF KWILA wider on the track.

In the early stages of the straight, BRIDIE BELLE shifted out, making contact with the tiring ROSE OF KWILA. A short distance later, QUITE ASTUTE shifted out, taking BEAUJOLAIS out on to BRIDIE BELLE, which made contact with ROSE OF KWILA, forcing that horse across the heels of IMANA.
Near the 100m., IMANA had to be checked to avoid the heels of TIS MAIZING, which shifted in slightly. In this incident, IMANA shifted out, inconveniencing CASUAL CHICK.

When questioned, C. Munce could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance of BEAUJOLAIS, indicating that the filly was unable to lead in the early stages, however was afforded a nice run throughout the event, but was under pressure prior to the home turn. A veterinary examination of BEAUJOLAIS failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken.


RACE 6: LYNDHURST STUD DOOMBEN CLASSIC - 1615M.

WAITOKI DREAM was slow to begin.

Making the first turn, CHINBOK shifted out off the heels of ROMAN THUNDER. RED HOT PEPPER, which was following, shifted out to avoid the heels of CHINBOK, taking SANDY RIVER wider on the track.

After leaving the 600m., WAITOKI DREAM shifted in and brushed the running rail and became unbalanced.

WAITOKI DREAM was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight when tightened for room between KING LATARMISS and SAUCER OF MILK. WAITOKI DREAM then had difficulty obtaining clear running until after leaving the 100m..

KING LATRMISS also had difficulty obtaining clear running near the 200m..

Near the 100m., WAITOKI DREAM shifted out slightly inconveniencing the tiring SAUCER OF MILK.


RACE 7: CARLTON DRAUGHT DOOMBEN 10,000 - 1350M.

CONSULAR and BESAME MUCHO were slow to begin.

N. Rawiller, rider of OUR EGYPTIAN RAINE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift out near the 200m. when insufficiently clear of ANCIENT SONG, resulting in ANCIENT SONG having to be checked. OUR EGYPTIAN RAINE continued to shift out, causing BESAME MUCHO having to be steadied shortly after leaving the 200m.. N. Rawiller was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 10 meetings, to commence at midnight, 22 May, and to expire at midnight, 13 June 2004. N. Rawiller was also fined the sum of $2500.

O. Bosson, rider of KING'S CHAPEL, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that after leaving the 200m. he permitted his mount to shift out, taking UNEARTHLY out on to SEDECREM, resulting in UNEARTHLY having to be checked. O. Bosson was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 10 meetings, to commence at midnight, 22 May, and to expire 13 June 2004. O. Bosson was also fined the sum of $1000.

THORN PARK was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Approaching the finish line, OUR EGYPTIAN RAINE shifted in under pressure and made heavy contact with SUPER ELEGANT.

SPORTSMAN was obliged to race wide throughout.


RACE 8:TRIPLE M CHAIRMAN'S H'CAP - 2020M.

When no other rider was available, permission was granted for J. Byrne to ride KENCONCARNE 1.5 kilograms overweight.

COLD START jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

BAZELLE was obliged to race wide throughout the race.

DIAMOND HILL was also obliged to race wide from the 800m..

ALL WINNERS AND BEAUJOLAIS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
