SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
As J. Powell was ill and B. Hull injured, riding replacements were made as per the Steward Summary Sheet.
Race 1: Become A Member Of BTC 3yo & Up Maiden Plate - 1350m..
1st - Positron 2nd - Zippy Eyed 3rd - Irresistibelle 4th - Move To Strike
DINNA LATAR (C. Spry) and IRRESISTIBELLE (J. Byrne) were slow to move, losing ground.
Approaching the 800m., DINNA LATAR shifted in slightly, causing AUNTIE LOU (G. McKeon) to be eased.
Stewards opened an inquiry into the reason for GOODISON (M. Carson) and INVALUABLE (D. Ballard) falling near the 750m.. Evidence was taken from jockeys T. Pannell (POSITRON), S. Galloway (KINASHASA), M. Smith-Lester (ZIPPY EYED), G. McKeon (AUNTIE LOU), J. Byrne (IRRESISTIBELLE), C. Spry (DINNA LATAR) and M. Pelling (COMELY LOOK). The inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed as M. Carson and D. Ballard were transported to hospital. As a result of the INVALUABLE falling, ZIPPY EYED (M. Smith-Lester), IRRESISTIBELLE, DINNA LATAR (C. Spry), MOVE TO STRIKE (B. Stewart) and VIRGINIA (P. Gesler) were inconvenienced. GOODISON came in contact with the fallen INVALUABLE and blundered, dislodging M. Carson. AUNTIE LOU made heavy contact with the fallen INVALUABLE and was pulled up out of the race. Jockey M. Pelling, rider of COMELY LOOK, which jumped the fallen INVALUABLE, became unseated, losing his balance.
The club's veterinary surgeon reported that upon examination INVALUABLE had a possible fracture to the near fore shoulder and had been transported to the Eagle Farm Veterinary Hospital, and COMELY LOOK had a laceration to the near fore fetlock and abrasions to the off fore fetlock. No abnormalities were found with GOODISON or AUNTIE LOU. As M. Carson and D. Ballard were transported to hospital, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
Race 2: Sky Channel 2yo Maiden H'cap - 1040m.
1st - Ciao For Now 2nd - Speed Bump 3rd - Cortes 4th - Tarquinius
As a result of the fall in race 1, the starting time for this event was rescheduled to 1.37 p.m..
Correct weight was shortly delayed when trainer B. Guy wished to view the start of this event.
At the start, CORTES (P. Hammersley) jumped awkwardly, brushing the outside gate and losing ground.
SUSTAINED PRESSURE (J. Byrne) also jumped awkwardly, losing ground.
MI CIELO (J. Taylor) was slow to begin when the gates were released, and then shortly after CORTES and MI CIELO were tightened for room, losing ground when LEGAL OPINIONS (M. Smith-Lester) shifted out and SPEED BUMP (B. Stewart) shifted in.
TARQUINIUS (M. Pelling) hung out for the major part of the event and got its tongue over the bit, forcing RICH CLAIM (R. Goltz) wider on the home turn. Trainer P. Duff was informed that under LR36(b) TARQUINIUS must perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial prior to its next race start.
MI CIELO raced greenly throughout.
Race 3: Simon Says 3yo & Up Landscapes Maiden Plate - 1660m.
1st - Pickastar 2nd - Chelseann 3rd - Reckon I'm Ready 4th - Tremors
As a result of the fall in race 1, the starting time for this event was rescheduled to 2.07 p.m..
KOHAYA (G. McKeon) and TREMORS (S. Galloway) were slow to move when the gates were released, losing ground.
Near the 1500m., KOHAYA steadied from the heels of TREMORS..

Race 4: Book Now For Brisbane Racing Carnival Class 3 H'cap - 1660m.
1st - Picaplace 2nd - Water Buffalo 3rd - Classy Darcy 4th - Lara's Way
As a result of the fall in race 1, the starting time for this event was rescheduled to 2.38 p.m..
At the start, LARA'S WAY (S. Katsidis) jumped in, brushing FLATTER (M. Pelling).
Near the 1400m., BERNYARD (R. Goltz) eased to avoid the heels of PICAPLACE (G. Colless), which shifted in.
Jockey S. Katsidis and trainer N. Stewart were questioned over the performance of LARA'S WAY. S. Katsidis stated that the filly had raced in its usual manner and rounding the home turn she moved into the race nicely, however under his hard riding LARA'S WAY failed to show her usual dash. Mr Stewart agreed with jockey Katsidis's summation of the race and he notified the stewards that the filly would be given a let up. The explanations were noted.
All runners were weighed in following this event.
Race 5: Northern City Finance Class 2 H'cap - 2070m.
1st - British Storm 2nd - Know A Lady 3rd - Mr Nice 4th - Initial Star
MODEST MISS was declared a late scratching at 1.13 p.m. when the filly was found to be lame in the off fore tendon. Trainer B. Baldwin was informed that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the filly's next race start.
CHEIRI (S. Galloway) jumped outwards at the start, making contact with KNOW A LADY (G. Geran).
Near the 1500m., INITIAL STAR (T.Pannell) steadied from the heels of BRITISH STORM (G. McKeon).
Making the home turn, INITIAL STAR and BULLET POINT (G. Farrer) were forced to cover extra ground.
CHEIRI lost its off fore plate in running.
Race 6: Triple M Class 3 H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Cupboard 2nd - Ashbury 3rd - Kalinga Metal 4th - All Energy
Shortly after the start, ALL ENERGY (J. Taylor) eased when tightened for room between LORD ENBURY (M. Pelling) and KALINGA METAL (T. Treichel).
The club's veterinary surgeon reported that RUCHED bled from both nostrils during the event. Trainer J. Hawkes representative M. Hawkes was informed that the gelding would suffer the disabilities under AR53(A) and may not start for a period of 3 months. A swab sample was taken from RUCHED.
Race 7: Flight Centre Class 1 H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Prang 2nd - Sir Ernesto 3rd - Let's Devower 4th - Galaxy Fighter
At the start, PRANG (A. Pattillo) and VIC'SACON (C. Spry) brushed.
Near the 200m., DUMPY DAN (M. Pelling) shifted out under pressure, inconveniencing VIC'SACON.
Race 8: Air New Zealand 3yo Maiden H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Calculated Guess 2nd - Scared 3rd - Canadian Kate 4th - Dream Gal
SCARED (S. Galloway) was slow to move when the gates were released.
SHAYKING (A. Pattillo) jumped inwards at the start, bumping RAW ABILITY (T. Pannell).
Near the 800m., CANADIAN KATE (S .Seamer) became unbalanced when racing in restricted room inside SHAYKING (A. Pattillo), which shifted in.
Near the 550m., COMATIZE (M. Deguara), which was pulling hard, steadied from the heels of APRAPRO (N. Jolly), and in doing so rolled in, bumping CALCULATED GUESS (S. Katsidis), which had pulled its way to the inside of COMATIZE. CALCULATED GUESS then rolled in, brushing CANADIAN KATE (S. Seamer). CALCULATED GUESS then became unbalanced, shifted out, bumping COMATIZE, resulting in DREAM GAL (J. Byrne), which was travelling on the outside, being forced wider on the track. Following an inquiry, no blame could be attached to any particular rider, however jockey M. Deguara, rider of COMATIZE, and S. Katsidis, rider of CALCULATED GUESS, were told to exercise greater care in future when in a similar position.
Near the 100m., CALCULATED GUESS and CANADIAN KATE (S. Seamer) brushed.
