Race 1: Lenovo QTIS 3yo Class 6 - 1350m.
1st - Nik Nak Noee 2nd - Vive Le Roi 3rd - Enrique 4th - Ciao For Now

Prior to race 1, G. Colless was examined by the club's doctor and cleared to ride. G. Colless was fined $50 for failing to provide a medical clearance as directed by stewards.

DOUBLE BIS (B. El-Issa) jumped away awkwardly.

ENVELOPE (J. Taylor) commenced to overrace after passing the 1100m. and did so for some distance.

After passing the 1000m., DOUBLE BIS commenced to overrace and had to be steadied off the heels of CIAO FOR NOW at the 700m..

Near the 900m., NIK NAK NOEE (B. Stewart), which was overracing, had to be checked off the heels of STIRLING (J. Sharp).

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of ENRIQUE (G. Colless), G. Colless stated that the horse travelled well in the early stages and he tracked the winner, NIK NAK NOEE, for the majority of the race, however when placed under pressure, ENRIQUE failed to respond to his riding. He further added that, in his opinion, ENRIQUE may not be concentrating throughout the entire race and advised the trainer that the colt may require the addition of blinkers. He was also of the opinion that the horse may not have backed up after its 3rd placing at Doomben on 20 August. Trainer M. Webb stated that he was at a loss to explain the performance today, other than the horse may not have backed up. He also advised stewards he would be making application to add blinkers for the horse's next race start. A veterinary examination of ENRIQUE failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken.

Race 2: Happy 30th Tamsen NMW H'cap - 1615m.
1st - Oliver's Magic 2nd - Rampant Lion 3rd - Mr Lister 4th - Engineer

A jockey B. Pengelly was to be overweight, C. Spry was substituted as the rider of DESERT SHAKER. B. Pengelly was fined $200.

JUST CASSIDY (N. Jolly) jumped away awkwardly.

ENGINEER (B. Stewart) was momentarily tightened for room on jumping away between OLIVER'S MAGIC (J. Byrne) and MR LISTER (T. Pannell), both of which shifted ground.

Approaching the first turn, MR LISTER had to be steadied off the heels of GEETEEHAYCHO (B. El-Issa).

Near the 400m., JUST CASSIDY (N. Jolly) shifted out and made contact with GO RIDING (S. Galloway).

Approaching the 350m., ENGINEER (B. Stewart) was momentarily held up when endeavouring to shift out to obtain clear running.

GO RIDING (S. Galloway) was forced to race 3 wide for the majority of the event.

C. Spry, rider of DESERT SHAKER, reported that the gelding returned to the enclosure with its tongue over the bit.

Race 3: Mine Support Services CGE&E Class 6 1350m.
1st - Umaprince 2nd - Tropiqualo 3rd - Stood Up 4th - Matey

PRINCE PERCY (N. Evans) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, STOOD UP (B. Pengelly) and LION LAIR (J. Taylor) were tightened for room between SOVEREIGN SPUR (B. El-Issa) and MATEY (J. Byrne), which shifted in. J. Byrne, rider of MATEY, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Near the 1200m., STOOD UP and LION LAIR (J. Taylor) had to be momentarily steadied when tightened for room by CEE JAY TEE (M. Rice), which shifted in.

MATEY overraced approaching the first turn.

Near the 600m., STOOD UP laid in and had to be steadied off the heels of CEE JAY TEE (M. Rice).

SCOTTISH REAVER (B. Stewart) and STOOD UP were forced to race wide throughout.





Race 4: Body & Soul Beauty Clinic H'cap - 2020m.
1st - Devastating 2nd - Bohemian Dancer 3rd - Rue The Saint 4th - Kreisler's Jewel

Stewards questioned trainer M. Flanigan regarding the riding tactics the connections intended to adopt on RUE THE SAINT, given that at its previous start at Eagle Farm on 6 August, they approached stewards and informed them that with the barrier and weight the gelding was to carry they intended to ride the horse back in the field. Mr Flanigan advised stewards with today's weight and lack of speed in the race, it was the intention of the connections to ride RUE THE SAINT in a forward position. An announcement to this effect was made over the course broadcast system.

BOHEMIAN DANCER (S. Galloway) and CONCITARE (B. Stewart) were slow to begin.

RUE THE SAINT (J. McKinnon) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.


Race 5: Chaps Menswear Class 6 H'cap - 2200m.
1st - Tackman 2nd - Lord Rupert 3rd - Tearinupthecountry 4th - Tsolias

TACKMAN (K. Pope) was slow to begin.

After passing the 1000m., ROCK CAFÉ (R. McMahon) shifted out, making contact with BRITISH STORM (P. Hammersley).

SUPER IMPRINT (C. Spry) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.

Near the 300m., TSOLIAS (B. Stewart) had to be checked when disappointed for a run where there was doubtful room between CHICKADEE (S. Galloway) and ROCK CAFÉ, which shifted out slightly.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and handling of ROCK CAFÉ. After taking evidence from apprentice R. McMahon, his master, trainer Mr B. Smith, and Mr B. Johnson, stable foreman for trainer Mr T. Martin, the inquiry was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed.

Race 6: Phantom Screens F&M Class 6 H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Canadian Shuffle 2nd - Mesmerising 3rd - Tycoon Rose 4th - A Little Dabl Doya

Near the 800m., PROPHET JEWEL (B. Stewart) had to be steadied when tightened for room by CASHMERE MIST (J. Taylor), which shifted in and away from MESMERISING (B. El-Issa). In this incident, PROPHET JEWEL made contact with the running rail.

After passing the 700m., CASHMERE MIST ran up on to the heels of ASIMBA (S. Galloway) and shifted out abruptly, forcing OUT THERE (K. Pope) wider on the track.

Passing the 600m., ASIMBA had to be steadied off the heels of TYCOON ROSE (R. Mason)

Near the 50m, A LITTLE DABL; DOYA (B. Pengelly) had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of MESMERISING , which shifted in under pressure.
MESMERISING was forced to race 3 wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of PROPHET JEWEL, B. Stewart stated that the horse travelled well however he was forced to travel wide rounding the home turn to obtain clear running and was under pressure shortly after passing the 300m.. A veterinary examination of PROPHET JEWEL following the event failed to reveal any abnormality.

Post race veterinary examination of ASIMBA failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 7: Toshiba 2MW Last Year H'cap - 1350m.
1st - Generalissimo 2nd - Malta 3rd - Devil 4th - Road To Heaven

NEVER SAD (C. Spry) and SILVER DUKE (J. Taylor) were slow to begin.

DEVIL (D. Peisley) overraced in the early stages.

SILVER DUKE was forced to race 3 wide throughout.

Approaching the 250m., KOOTOOMOOTOO (B. El-Issa) shifted out and bumped GENERALISSIMO (J. Byrne).

A post race veterinary examination of SILVER DUKE failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 8: PRD Nationwide Manly 1MW H'cap - 1110m.
1st - Gloucester Road 2nd - Mighty Crossing 3rd - Rogan's Gem 4th - Yubi

SEAHAWK LASS (G. McKeon) and ROAR TALENT (M. Yoshinaga) came together on jumping away.

Shortly after the start, MISS RUTHERFORD had to be steadied when tightened for room between CASUAL CHICK (B. Stewart) and SHE'S ALL GREEK (J. McKinnon), which shifted in.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the reason for CASUAL CHICK (B. Stewart) falling and dislodging B. Stewart near the 150m.. After taking evidence from S. Galloway (GLOUCESTER ROAD), B. Thomson (MIGHTY CROSSING), M. Yoshinaga (ROAR TALENT), J. McKinnon (SHE'S ALL GREEK) and J. Byrne (ROMANTIC JOURNEY), the inquiry was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed as B. Stewart had been transported to hospital. MISS RUTHERFORD (J. Taylor), which was following, had to be checked to avoid the heels of the fallen CASUAL CHICK. A post-race veterinary examination of CASUAL CHICK failed to reveal any abnormality.

LEEDS UNITED (T.Pannell) had difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages.

SHE'S ALL GREEK was forced to race wide throughout.

Apprentice jockey R. McMahon, rider of ROGAN'S GEM, was fined $100 for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram over his declared riding weight.
