The start was delayed when CAPTAIN LIGHTNING (S. Katsidis) proved difficult to load. Trainer H. Page was advised that a warning would be placed on CAPTAIN LIGHTNING.
IN YOUR HONOUR (S. Seamer) jumped away awkwardly.
CAPTAIN LIGHTNING was inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages.
Leaving the 800n., DIAMONDS AM I (M. Cahill) shifted in abruptly and made heavy contact with the running rail and became unbalanced. REONMAY, which was following, had to be steadied.
Near the 550m., DIAMONDS AM I (M. Cahill) again shifted in and brushed the running rail and became unbalanced.
CAPTAIN LIGHTNING laid out rounding the home turn.
After passing the 300m., REONMAY (K. Wharton) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FALCONTEN (M. Palmer), which shifted out. M. Palmer, rider of FALCONTEN, was advised to exercise more care.

Race 2: Right Loan Right Now 1mw H’cap - 1200m
1st - Coincidental 2nd - Orrong 3rd - Aim So High 4th - Caprill
Trainer A. Bailey was fined $50 for presenting COINCIDENTAL to the enclosure with the incorrect gear.
MISTER DE BALI (C. Spry) was tightened for room on jumping away between LATE FOR TEA (R. Plumb) and SLICK OPERATOR (M. Palmer), which shifted in.
DUOMO (S. Galloway) jumped away awkwardly.
Shortly after the start, CAPRILL (S. Apthorpe) had to be steadied when tightened for room between BLACK SUIT (J. Taylor) and COINCIDENTAL (G. Colless), which shifted in.
Approaching the 800m., BEN HUR (B. El-Issa) shifted in and clipped the heels of AIM SO HIGH (R. McMahon) and blundered. SLICK OPERATOR, which was following, had to be checked. COINCIDENTAL also had to be steadied as a consequence and shifted out, and was obliged to race 3 wide for the remainder of the event.
Near the 800m., BLACK SUIT (J. Taylor) brushed the running rail and became unbalanced. Approaching the 600m., NEXT SIZE UP (S. Katsidis) shifted out and bumped LATE FOR TEA.
MONTE CAVALLO (S. Seamer) was held up and unable to obtain clear running in the early stages of the straight.
MISTER DE BALI and LATE FOR TEA (R. Plumb) were forced to race wide for the majority of the event.
A post-race veterinary examination of MISSILE SAM failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The club’s veterinary surgeon also reported that LATE FOR TEA had been galloped on on the mid near hind tendon, and BEN HUR had sustained multiple lacerations down the near hind tendon.
Subsequent to the event, trainer R. Heathcote reported that AIM SO HIGH was found to have been galloped on on the near hind leg.
Race 3: www.citvpacificfinance.com.au No Metro Wins H’cap – I010m
1st - Starlactic 2nd - Babinda Half 3rd - Rustic Rambler 4th -Aladdins Lion
Trainer G. Burns was fined $50 for failing to present the Document of Description for POWER EXPRESS.
WINDAMINGLE (K. Wharton) jumped away awkwardly.
PICCOHI (R. Mason) was tightened for room on jumping away between SHEEMA (M. Carson) and FLEETING ECHO (T.Pannell), both of which shifted ground.
Shortly after the start, DEFECTING PLAYBOY (B. Pengelly) shifted in and made contact with BRISBANE LION (S. Katsidis).
Near the 900m., SHEEMA (M. Carson) had to be steadied when tightened for room between CRAFTY KING (S. Seamer) and PICCOHI (R. Mason), which was inclined to shift in and away from ALADDINS LION (B. El-Issa), which shifted in on an acute angle. B. El-Issa, rider of ALLADDINS LION, was advised to exercise more care.
PICCOHI (R. Mason) laid out in the middle stages.
BUDDY SEQUALO (M. Palmer) was forced to travel wide for the majority of the event.
Race 4: Right Home Loan Right Now H’cap - 2020m
1st - Don’t Tell Clang 2nd - Jackman 3rd - Cold Start 4th - Templin
Due to a misunderstanding, G. Colless was declared as the rider for JACKMAN. S. Galloway was permitted as the replacement rider for that gelding.
TEMPLIN (S. Seamer) was inclined to overrace in the early stages.
Near the 1500m., STAGE KING (K. Wharton) had to be steadied off the heels of DON’T TELL CLANG (S. Katsidis).
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of LESTER
THUNDERWING, jockey M. Cahill stated that, in his opinion, the gelding never concentrated throughout the event, and when placed under pressure passing the 700m., LESTER THUNDERWING failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination of LESTER THUNDERWING failed to reveal any abnormality.
Race 5: Right Business Loan Right Now Mode QTIS 3yo Fillies H’cap - 1200m
1st - Street Smart 2nd - La Montagna 3rd - Dulacca Diva 4th - Single Rose
BLUE JEAN BABY, which broke through the barriers and galloped for some distance, was declared a late scratching at 3.06 p.m.. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on BLUE JEAN BABY were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 5 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 6 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets.
HOLY LOVER (R. Mason) jumped away awkwardly.
DUSTY TAAN (P. Hammersley) was slow to begin and a short distance later was tightened for room between CRACKLE DASH (J. Bowditch) and STREET SMART (S. Katsidis), which shifted in.
After passing the 1100m., DUSTY TMN commenced to overrace and near the 900m. shifted out abruptly, hampering LA MONTAGNA (G. Colless). DUSTY TAAN then continued to overrace whilst travelling 4 wide for the remainder of the event.
Approaching the 800m., MI CIELO (R. McMahon) shifted out and bumped SHEWHOMUSTBEOBEYED. As a result SHEWHOMUSTBEOBEYED became unbalanced and shifted out, hampering SINGLE ROSE (B. El-Issa). CRACKLE DASH which was following had to be steadied. STREET SMART, which was following CRACKLE DASH, had to be steadied to avoid that horses heels and shifted out and bumped NOVA STAR (M.Cahill).
SINGLE ROSE (B. El-Issa) was inclined to lay out in the middle stages.
Shortly after straightening, LA MONTAGNA shifted in and bumped HAYIL’S MAGIC. HAYIL’S MAGIC then had some difficulty obtaining clear running for some distance.
Near the 200m., SHEWHOMUSTBEOBEYED became unbalanced after receiving a bump from WHISPERING GYPSY (C. Spry), which was taken out by HOLY LOVER (R. Mason). Apprentice R. Mason, rider of HOLY LOVER, was reprimanded and advised she must make greater effort to keep her mounts straight.
A post-race veterinary examination of CRACKLE DASH revealed the filly to have been galloped on on the off hind tendon.
Race 6: Right Commercial Loan Right Now 2MW H’cap - 1615m.
1st -Decibeel 2nd - Party express 3rd - Bannock Bay 4th - Flying Kwila
As N. Jolly was ill, C. Spry was substituted as the rider of JUST CASSIDY, and S. Apthorpe as the rider of CELTIC TRIAL in race 7.
MAMELUKE (T.Pannell) reared as the gates opened and lost considerable ground.
CRAIGLEA BOB (S. Seamer) was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, LINDHOLME (P. Hammersley) and FIRES OF IRELAND (M. Palmer) came together.
Near the 1400m., BANNOCK BAY (S. Apthorpe) was placed in restricted room between DECIBEEL (G. Colless) and NEDEYEV (S. Galloway), which shifted in slightly. BANNOCK BAY then commenced to over-race.
PENETRATOR (B. El-Issa) was forced to race wide in the early stages.
NEDEYEV (S. Galloway) and BANNOCK BAY were forced to race wide for the majority of the event.
Shortly after entering the straight, LINDHOLME and SEA DRIVE (S. Shield) came together.
Near the lOOm., PREND (S. Katsidis) had to be steadied when tightened for room between UNITE AND PROSPER (K. Pope) and MY CHINESE KING (J. Bowditch), which shifted in. J. Bowditch, rider of MY CHINESE KING, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care.

Race 7: QRSE City Pacific Finance Summer Stakes - 1200m
1st - Takeover Target 2nd - Picardi Run 3rd - Proudly Agro 4th - Sir Breakfast
PICARDI RUN (B. Pengelly) and DEUXIEME (J. Bowditch) were slow to begin.
Approaching the 800m., CELTIC TRIAL (S. Apthorpe) ran up on to the heels of ADMIRAL SPY (M. Rice), and had to be steadied.
PICARDI RUN commenced to overrace passing the 800m. and had to be steadied off the heels of PROUDLY AGRO.
After passing the 300m., HARD TO CATCH (R. Mason) was momentarily tightened for room between SIR DAN (C. Spry) and PICARDI RUN, which shifted out to improve around the heels of SIR BREAKFAST.
Approaching the 50m., CELTIC TRIAL (S. Apthorpe) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of the tiring MASTERMIND.
ENTHUSIAST (B. El-Issa) was forced to race wide for the majority of the event.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of CONSULAR, jockey G. Colless stated that he positioned the gelding back in the field as anticipated, and after travelling well between the 650m. and home turn, CONSULAR failed to run on as expected. He added that, in his opinion, CONSULAR may be better suited in races over a longer journey. A veterinary examination of CONSULAR failed to reveal any abnormality.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MASTERMIND, J. Taylor stated that the gelding travelled well but was under pressure shortly after passing the 800m.. A veterinary examination of MASTERMIND revealed the gelding to have quartered its off fore heel and showing signs of soreness in that leg. Trainer B. McLachlan was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for MASTERMIND prior to its next race start.
Race 8: City Pacific Finance PH 136255 H’cap - 1350m
1st - Minassi 2nd - Free As Air 3rd - Sunlady 4th - Kutalo
ARID MISS (P. Hammersley) was slow to begin.
Jockey J. Bowditch, rider of TARRATHAAKI reported that shortly after the start his saddle shifted back, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
SUNLADY (J. Taylor) had to be checked near the 400m. to avoid the heels of the tiring TESTIFY (M. Palmer).
After passing the 300m., MINASSI (S. Seamer) was disappointed for a run to the inside of APPERTAIN (M. Rice), which shifted in and as a result had to alter course.
Near the 50m., TELE SERIES (K. Wharton) had to be steadied when tightened for room between SEAENZA (B. Stewart) and SUNLADY (J. Taylor), which shifted out to improve to the outside of KUTALO (K Banks). J. Taylor, rider of SUNLADY, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
DAUNTING LAD (R. McMahon) was forced to race wide for the majority of the event.
A post-race veterinary examination of TESTIFY revealed the gelding to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia, brought on by heat stress. Trainer J. Wallace was advised that he must produce to the stewards the results of an ECG, and that the gelding must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
