SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From BTC meeting, 26.8.06 – Race 8
Passing the 200m, PERSUADES (J. Byrne) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ROCK OF MUFASA (M. Cahill), which shifted in and made contact with PICTURE BOOK (M. Morris). M. Cahill, rider of ROCK OF MUFASA, was reprimanded and advised to make greater efforts to keep his mounts on a straight course.
Race 1: Lifescreen Australia Class 6 H’cap – 1650m. .
1st – Colonial Lass 2nd – Our Jangles 3rd – Amber Lodge 4th – Little Darling
ALI ALYDAR was a late scratching at 8.40 a.m. on veterinary advice.
LITTLE DARLING (M. Palmer) was slow to begin.
BACKSTAGE GIRL (K. Wharton) and COLONIAL LASS (B. Payne) came together on jumping away.
LEGAL MISS (S. Drake) had a tendency to overrace in the ealry stages.
DEFROSTING (K. Pope) and COLONIAL LASS were forced to race wide in the early stages.
Near the 100m, PERETTE (B. Stewart) had to be steadied when tightened for room between MISS INDIANA (M. Dorrington) and BACKSTAGE GIRL, which shifted out. K. Wharton, rider of BACKSTAGE GIRL, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Race 2: The Kennedy Classic NMW H’cap – 1030m
1st – Myagi 2nd – Commander Monash 3rd – Red Hot Pistol 4th - Nasarlo
As M. Cahill was to be overweight, J. Taylor was substituted as the rider of RED HOT PISTOL. M. Cahill was fined the sum of $500.
IRISH LOUP (M. Kai) jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 550m, QUICK BALL (R. McMahon) and IRISH LOUP came together.
SAPPHIRE PEAK (A. Pattillo) raced wide throughout .
Race 3: Body & Soul H’cap NMW – 2050m
1st – Scattergun 2nd – Fil The Bill 3rd – Melling 4th – Victory Charm
Trainer J. Hunter was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for CHOTES GIRL by the prescribed time.
FIL THE BIL (J. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly.
GRANADORA (J. Bowditch) was slow to begin.
MOSHI MOSHI (K. Pope) and GRAND SEMI (P. Wolfgram) came together on jumping away.
Near the 1900m, SHOULDAWON (J. Byrne) had to be steadied momentarily to avoid the heels of MOSHI MOSHI (K. Pope), which shifted in.
VICTORY CHARM (M. Kai) overraced in the early stages.
FIL THE BIL was forced to race wide early.
Shortly after straightening, MELLING (L. Abbott) shifted out and bumped PAPPAPO (M. Radecker).
GRAND SEMI (P. Wolfgram) raced wide for the majority of the event.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of PAPPAPO, M. Radecker stated that in her opinion the gelding failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions. Stable foreman Miss M. Seymour also was of the opinion that the PAPPAPO did not handle the prevailing track conditions.
J. Bowditch was questioned concerning GRANADORA being positioned further back in the field further than anticipated. He stated that after being a little slow to begin, the gelding felt reluctant to stretch out in the early stages when he applied pressure. The explanation was noted.
Race 4: Nic, Will You Marry Me? Ray QTIS 3yo Class 6 H’cap – 1200m
1st – The Spear 2nd – Mr Doyle 3rd – Highland Winner 4th - Stolit
MR DOYLE (M. Morris) jumped away awkwardly.
Passing the 1100m, MATZUMI (M. Palmer) was momentarily tightened for room between THE SPEAR (J. Bowditch) and MR DOYLE (M. Morris).
Near the 800m, THE SPEAR improved up on to the heels of HIGHLAND WINNER (J. Byrne) and had to be steadied.
A post-race veterinary examination of STOLIT (M. Cahill) failed to reveal any abnormality.
Race 5: Browns Plains Motor Inn H’cap – 1650m
1st – Onmitrader 2nd – King’s Coup 3rd – Imperialism 4th - Ceffyl
Near the 500m, KING’S COUP (A. Pattillo) shifted out around the heels of COLD START (R. Mason) and made contact with IMPERIALISM (J. Byrne).
Approaching the 300m, COLD START (R. Mason) had to be steadied off the heels of APPERTAIN (M. Rice), which shifted in slightly.
Race 6: Higgins Better Painting Management Flying H’cap – 1200m
1st – Navy Seal 2nd – A Little Naughty 3rd – Belgrade 4th - Katenian
KATENIAN (J. Bowditch) was tightened for room on jumping away between DIURNAL (R. McMahon) and A LITTLE NAUGHTY (B. Stewart), which jumped inwards.
Near the 1100m, KUTALO (M. Morris) and YUBI (K. Pope) were placed in restricted room inside A LITTLE NAIGHTY (B. Stewart), which shifted in momentarily.
Passing the 300m, NAVAL SEAL (J. Byrne) shifted out and bumped YUBI (K. Pope).
Close to the finish line, PICCOHI (J. Taylor) and BELGRADE (K. Forrester) brushed.
When questioned regarding the performance of KUTALO, apprentice M. Morris stated that the horse travelled well in the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure shortly before straightening, the horse failed to respond to his riding. He further added that in his opinion KUTALO was not entirely comfortable in today’s heavy track condtions.
Race 7: Warren Hawkins Last Day Of Freedom 1MW H’cap – 1350m
1st – Pedro’s Amaizing 2nd – Big Kea 3rd – Clevergaze 4th – Weekend Wonder
Trainer J. Hunter was reprimanded for nominating BELGRADE for this event when ineligible.
As G. Farrer was to be overweight, K. Forrester was substituted as them rider of WEEKEND WONDER. G. Farrier will be interviewed at tomorrow’s SCTC meeting regarding this matter.
WEEKENDER WONDER (K. Forrester) jumped away awkwardly.
BIG KEA (S. Drake) and ANCIENT KING (J. Byrne) were tightened on jumping away between PEDRO’S AMAIZING (C. Spry) and SMARTEN CLASSY (K. Pope), which shifted ground.
LOUGHNAN (A. Pattillo) were forced to race wide for the majority of the event.
BIG KEA (S. Drake) laid out for the majority of the straight.
A post-race veterinary examination of KANETOSHI MILLIONS revealed the gelding to be making an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer M Sims was advised that he would be required to provide a full veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination following a satisfactory barrier trial.
Race 8: The James William Patino Class 6 Plate – 1200m
1st – General Patton 2nd – Tackman 3rd – Prang 4th – Mr Hornblower
TACKMAN (K. Pope) was slow to begin.
GENERAL PATTON (L. Fyfe) and PRANG (K. Wharton)l raced wide throughout.
MR HORNBLOWER (A. Pattillo) was held up from shortly after entering the straight until near the 100m.
A post-race veterinary examination of COMMON KNOWLEDGE failed to reveal any abnormalities.
