Race 1: LEXUS OF BRISBANE 3YO C&G MAIDEN H’CAP – 1110M
1st – Al Be Nimble 2nd – Zazz 3rd – Prince Leo 4th – Scent Of Gold

SIR TELES (S. Katsidis), which broke through the barriers, was quickly restrained, examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

FAITHFUL TOM (B. El-Issa) jumped away awkwardly.

SIR TELES commenced to hang out rounding the first turn and continued to hang our for the remainder of the event. S. Katsidis reported that the bit had pulled through the horse’s mouth. A veterinary examination of SIR TELES failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections were instructed to trial the horse before racing again.

The track rating was upgraded to DEAD following the running of Race 1.

Race 2: WHITSUNDAY HOME LOANS 3YO FILLIES MAIDEN H’CAP – 1110M
1st – She’s A Mountain 2nd – Pamalashar 3rd – Brief Me 4th – Such Is Luck

PAMALASHAR (G. Colless) and MEDIUM ‘N’ RARE (J. Holder) were slow to begin.

Approaching the first turn SHINCESS (R. Plumb) overraced on the heels of SUCH IS LUCK (K. Wharton).

HIGHLY CHIC (J. Bowditch) was forced to race wide in the early stages.

BRIEF ME (M. Palmer) was forced to race wide throughout.

MEDIUM ‘N’ RARE hung out between the 800m and the home turn.

Shortly after straightening GOLDEN CHALICE (B. Pengelly) shifted out abruptly off the heels of the tiring HIGHLY CHIC.

A post-race veterinary examination of HIGHLY CHIC revealed no abnormality.

Race 3: TOYOTA AURION V6 MAIDEN PLATE – 1615M
1st – Nasadispute 2nd – Carry The Brave 3rd – Landscapes 4th – Mr Romanelli

CAZ LOUIS (M. Radecker) and PRIZED PICK (D. Peisley) were both slow to jump.

CARRY THE BRAVE (B. Stewart) was tightened on jumping away between LANDSCAPES (R. McMahon) and RANGEFIRE (S. Scriven) which jumped outwards.

Shortly after the start MR ROMANELLI (K. Wharton) had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of NATURAL D’OR (G. Colless) which shifted out.

Rounding the first turn SILVER CLASSIC (A. Spinks) was placed in restricted room between CARRY THE BRAVE and RUBY COURT (J. Bowditch) which shifted in slightly.

Near the 1300m CARRY THE BRAVE had to be steadied off the heels of RUBY COURT. J. Bowditch, the rider of RUBY COURT, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

When questioned regarding the performance of NATURAL D’OR, G. Colless stated that his instructions were to ride the gelding forward and try to steal a break on the rest of the field near the 700m. G. Colless added that he rode the horse to instructions, however when he put NATURAL D’OR under pressure prior to the home turn it failed to respond to his riding.

When questioned regarding the performace of RANGEFIRE, jockey S. Scriven stated that the horse travelled well, however approaching the home turn the horse, in his opinion, became awkward and when placed under presssure shortly after entering the straight he felt that something may have been amiss with the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination of RANGEFIRE failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer K. T. Smith will be advised that, prior to its next start, RANGEFIRE must barrier trial and that he must produce a veterinary certificate of fitness for the horse.

Race 4: INVESTEC BANK MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Fielding 2nd – Prince Zulu 3rd - Cortes 4th – Depression

Approaching the 900m when the pace steadied FIELDING (J. Walk) shifted out abruptly off the heels of CANADIAN STORM (M. Radecker) and inconvenienced BLOOD PILL (M. Palmer). PRINCE ZULU (B. Stewart) also had to be steadied as a consequence. OSCAR PAPA (R. Plumb), which was overracing, also shifted out off the heels of PRINCE ZULU, making contact with CORTES (S. Katsidis). Apprentice M. Radecker, the rider of CANADIAN STORM, was reminded of her obligations regarding the unnecessary easing of the pace.

Shortly after straightening PRINCE ZULU ran up on to the heels of CORTES and shifted out abruptly.


Race 5: DIVERSIFIED FUNDS MANAGEMENT LIMITED F&M CLASS 3 3YO & UP H’CAP – 1010M
1st – Miss Judgement 2nd – Sequablue 3rd – Shinkickin Cowgirl 4th – Thimbles

QUEENIE AMBER was a late scratching at 2:56 p.m. after that mare refused to leave the enclosure. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on QUEENIE AMBER be refunded, with deductions of 19 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets and 20 cents in the dollar on the face value of place tickets on bets placed before 2:56 p.m.

Apprentice R. Plumb, the rider of SEQUABLUE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a), the careless riding being that near the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of THIMBLES (M. Kerr), resulting in that horse having to be checked. R. Plumb’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Saturday, 11 November, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 19 November 2006.

M. Radecker, the rider of SHINKICKIN COWGIRL, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a), the careless riding being that approaching the 500m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of THIMBLES (M. Kerr), resulting in that horse having to be checked. M. Radecker’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Saturday, 11 November, and expire at midnight on Friday, 24 November 2006.

The track rating was upgraded to GOOD after the running of Race 5.

Race 6: LEXUS IS250 CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Make A Buck 2nd – Mini Matilda 3rd – Belles Opinion 4th – Mrs Mango

KIDLING was declared a late scratching at 3:19 p.m. by order of the stewards. Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the bona fides of the training of that gelding to a time and date to be fixed. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on KIDLING be refunded, with deductions of 2 cents in the dollar on the face value of win and place tickets on bets placed before 3:19 p.m.

MYNDOS (K. Banks) jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 800m VIVE LE ROI (S. Galloway), which was overracing, improved to the inside of HALF MOON BAY (D. Peisley) where there was insufficient room and had to be steadied.

Shortly after straightening MINI MATILDA (A. Spinks) shifted out and brushed MRS MANGO (S. Katsidis).

Approaching the 200m MINI MATILDA shifted out and was momentarily inconvenienced on the heels of MAKE A BUCK (R. Plumb).

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of HALF MOON BAY, apprentice D. Peisley stated that the mare travelled well in the early stages, however had a tendency to lay out between the 800m and the 400m, and when placed under pressure shortly after straightening failed to respond to his riding. Trainer L. Ross was at a loss to explain the horse’s performance today other than that the mare has not performed well at its previous three starts at Doomben. A post-race veterinary examination of HALF MOON BAY failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 7: LEXUS RX400H CUP – 2200M
1st – Lester Thunderwing 2nd – The Real Rokocoko 3rd – My Chinese King 4th – Magritte

Near the 1900m THE REAL ROKOCOKO and EMGEE REX (M. Carson) were placed in restricted room to the inside of LESTER THUNDERWING (G. Colless) and raced there for a short distance.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion EMGEE REX was obliged to race three wide and did so for the remainder of the event.

THE REAL ROKOCOKO was held up for clear running between the 500m and the 400m and at the 400m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ADAVALE HORNET (M. Price) which shifted out.

ADAVALE HORNET was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

CLASSIC KARLA (L. Fyfe) laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 8: LEXUS GS430 C,G&E 3YO & UP H’CAP – 1010M
1st – Milliardaire 2nd – The Chanster 3rd – Consider Yourself 4th – Anduril

NENG RAIN (R. Plumb) jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and made contact CONSIDER YOURSELF (G. Colless).

NENG RAIN was caught wide in the early stages.

SKY MINE (B. El-Issa) raced wide throughout.

Rounding the home turn CONSIDER YOURSELF shifted out to improve, taking VERY HOT (M. Palmer) out on to SKY MINE.
