SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

As P. Wolfgram was indisposed, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Apprentice D. Peisley was fined $200 under AR. 85B for being unable to fulfil his engagement in Race 3 at the Gold Coast due to engagements at Doomben.

Race 1: LIONS.COM.AU 2YO H’CAP – 1110M
1st – Chinchilla Rose 2nd – Chabeli 3rd – Culminante 4th – Carry On Kosa

MOGFA (J. Byrne) reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground.

BURN ME UP (J. Sharp) was slow to begin.

REDHOTJAZZ (S. Scriven) jumped out at the start and made contact with EDUCATED (G. Colless).

CULMINANTE (S. Katsidis) jumped away awkwardly.

EDUCATED was forced to race wide throughout.

Near the 250m CHABELI (M. Cahill) shifted out to improve and made contact with REDHOTJAZZ.

A post-race veterinary examination of FOUR WISE MEN (J. Taylor) failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that REDHOTJAZZ was suffering metabolic heat syndrome following the event.

Race 2: LIONS DEN SOCIAL CLASS H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Answer Me 2nd – Cashkitty 3rd – Miss Golden Girl 4th – Schapelle

BOONAH GOLD (M. Morris) was slow to begin.

PASSAGEMAKER (J. Taylor) jumped out at the start and brushed BLUEBERRY STAR (S. Seamer).

PASSAGEMAKER was forced to race wide in the early stages.

WELCOME SITE (S. Drake) raced wide throughout.

Passing the 800m SCHAPELLE (P. Wells) commenced to hang out and did so until shortly after straightening.

Near the 300m PREND (J. Byrne) improved up on to the heels of the tiring PASSAGEMAKER and had to be steadied.

Passing the 300m SCHAPELLE shifted in and bumped PASSAGEMAKER.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of PASSAGEMAKER, J. Taylor stated that he was caught wide in the early stages and was obliged to push forward to obtain a position close to the rail and to achieve this he was obligated to take a position outside the leader. He added that the mare was under pressure rounding the home turn. J. Taylor stated he may recommend to the trainer that PASSAGEMAKER be ridden a bit more patiently at its next start. Trainer G. Ryan’s stable representative Ms Harding could offer no explanation, however she undertook to advise stewards should anything come to light in the days subsequent to the event. A post-race veterinary examination of PASSAGEMAKER failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.

Race 3: CADBURY SCHWEPPES H’CAP – 1640M
1st – Peaceful Honour 2nd – Master Denis 3rd – Time And Dandy 4th – Feelin Dandy

ADVANTAGE PLUS (M. Price) and FEELIN DANDY (M. Radecker) were placed in restricted room on jumping away between WINSOME LOOT (P. Wells) and POPPY POWER (S. Seamer) which shifted in.

WINSOME LOOT got its head up and was inclined to overrace in the early stages when being restrained.

MASTER DENIS (A. Coome) was inclined to overrace in the early stages.

MOONBI NYMPH (J. Byrne) commenced to overrace passing the 1400m and did so for some distance.

Passing the 900m POINT MADE (A. Spinks) shifted out, forcing WINSOME LOOT wider on the track. WINSOME LOOT was then obliged to race wide for the remainder of the event.

MASTER DENIS shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages and near the 50m brushed PEACEFUL HONOUR (B. El-Issa).

Race 4: CARLTON MID 3YO H’CAP – 1110M
1st – Partygoer 2nd – Go Sequalo 3rd – Charmana Star 4th – Mohawk

The start was delayed when MUSIC ACADEMY proved difficult to load. Trainer B. McLachlan’s representative was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next start.

ASCENDANT (J. Byrne) and PARTYGOER (M. Price) came together on jumping away.

HESASHOW (G. Colless) and MUSIC ACADEMY (S. Seamer) came together on jumping away.

HESASHOW was inclined to hang out from passing the 800m until shortly after straightening.

Close to the finishing line GO SEQUALO (M. Cahill) shifted in and bumped PARTYGOER.

A post-race veterinary examination of ASCENDANT failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 5: VODAFONE BRISBANE LIONS H’CAP – 2040M
1st – Rampant Lion 2nd – Milady Clang 3rd – Bitofasmartie 4th – My Chinese King

Shortly after the start MOTIVATE (J. Taylor) was momentarily impeded between MY CHINESE KING (M. Radecker) and COOL SCENE (A. Coome) which shifted out.

Near the 300m FAIR ACE (M. Morris) was tightened for room between COOL SCENE and RAMPANT LION (K. Wharton) which shifted out. K. Wharton was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

RAMPANT LION shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

A post-race veterinary examination of MOTIVATE failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 6: AUSTRALASIAN SHOPFITTING 0MW H’CAP – 1200M
1st – Halluce’s Devotion 2nd – Polaris 3rd – Major Boyington 4th - Telfire

HAIGHT ASHBURY (S. Galloway) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in making contact with MAJOR BOYINGTON (J. Bowditch) which was slow to begin.

Rounding the 800m turn TELFIRE (P. Wells) shfited out and struck the heels of PRIMODORO (K. Wharton) and blundered.

POLAR WOLF (M. Radecker), PRIMODORO and TAKE THE SHOT (B. El-Issa) raced wide throughout.

Near the 450m HALLUCE’S DEVOTION (M. Price) was momentarily cramped for room inside ALADDINS LION (J. Byrne) which shifted in slightly.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ALADDINS LION, jockey J. Byrne stated that the horse had an easy run outside the leader, however when placed under pressure passing the 600m the gelding failed to respond to his riding. Trainer M. Thexton stated that her stable had expected a forward showing from the gelding today. She added that ALADDINS LION has had a long preparation and will be sent for an immediate spell. The explanation was noted.

The track was upgraded to GOOD following the running of this event.

Race 7: THE BMD GROUP H’CAP – 1110M
1st – Mitanni 2nd – Words Of Magic 3rd – Black Suit 4th - Sequallan

ALGORITHM (B. El-Issa), which was fractious in the barriers, was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

SPINARDO (M. Dorrington) jumped away awkwardly.

BLACK SUIT (J. Taylor) laid out rounding the home turn.

Approaching the 300m SIR BREAKFAST (G. Colless) had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between PICCOHI (J. Byrne) and BLACK SUIT which was laying out.

Inside the 50m SIR BREAKFAST had to be steadied to avoid the heels of PICCOHI which was taken in by SEQUALLAN (C. Spry).

SHOW BIZ KID (S. Galloway) lost its near fore plate in running.

A post-race veterinary examination of SIR BREAKFAST failed to reveal any abnormalities.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on SONIC PEAK today, jockey K. Wharton stated that he was instructed to ride the horse forward, however after being trapped wide he had no other option than to push forward and take up a position outside the leader. He added that the gelding compounded over the final stages. His explanation was noted.

The Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that ALGORITHM had a bruise on the near shoulder following the event.

Race 8: HARCOURTS ORMEAU H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Demolir 2nd – Casaco 3rd – Mirabilis 4th – Testify

TESTIFY (S. Scriven) blundered on jumping away, losing considerable ground.

HARLEY GEORGE (G. Colless) jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 800m HARLEY GEORGE improved on to the heels of GONZALO (M. Cahill) and had to be steadied. MIRABILIS (J. Bowditch), which was following, had to be steadied as a consequence.

CHASIN’ TAIL (S. Katsidis) and RHYMENOREASON raced wide throughout.

GONZALO was momentarily held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

TESTIFY was held up for clear running from entering the straight until near the 250m.

Jockey J. Byrne stated that approaching the home turn he felt something may have gone amiss with RHYMENOREASON and he elected to retire the gelding from the event. A post-race veterinary examination of RHYMENOREASON failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer B. Baldwin was advised that he must trial the gelding prior to its next start. Mr Baldwin also undertook to advise stewards if anything came to light in the days subsequent to the event.

When questioned regarding the performance of HARLEY GEORGE, jockey G. Colless stated that the horse travelled well in the early stages and he elected to shift out to take a position behind CHASIN’ TAIL (S. Katsidis) near the 600m. He added that shortly after entering the straight he shifted out to enable HARLEY GEORGE to gain clear running and the horse quickened for only a short distance and ran on only fairly over the concluding stages. His explantion was noted.
