SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

As K. Wharton and S. Katsidis were indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Shell Maiden Plate – 2120m
1st – Ramco 2nd – Adilhtam 3rd – Canadian Poppy 4th – Half Circle

The start of this race was delayed due to the late arrival of the ambulance.

CONVAIR (J. Byrne) was tightened on jumping away between STARSKY (M. Radecker), which began awkardly, and SARLAT (M. Cahill), which shifted out.

BROADBEACH BABE (D. Green) was tightened for room on jumping away between JUNIOR DANDY (K. Banks) and HALF CIRCLE (M. Price), which shifted in.

ROCKET SPROCKET (P. Gesler) jumped away awkwardly.

Both ADILHATAM (B. El-Issa) and STARSKY (M. Radecker) made the crossing at the 1600m awkwardly.

Leaving the 1300m, CONVAIR (J. Byrne) improved up on to the heels of RICH BLUE DANE (S. Jones) and had to be steadied.

CANADIAN POPPY (S. Drake) overraced in the early and middle stages of the event.



Leaving the 300m, MACLEAN (W. Pearson) was tightened for room between JUNIOR DANDY (K. Banks) and HALF CIRCLE, which shifted out to improve.

OXIMORON and CONVAIR came together and bumped leaving the 200m.

SPANISH PAL (D. Coleman) and CANADIAN POPPY (S. Drake) both had difficulty obtaining clear running until the latter stages of the event.

STARSKY, ADILHTAM, COOL LOVER (T. Pannell), OXIMORON (N. Tomizawa) and ROCKET SPROCKET raced wide for the majority of the event.

A post-race veterinary examination of STARSKY revealed the gelding to have been stripped behind the near hind tendon.


Race 2: Duracell Brisbane Bloodstock 2yo Maiden H’cap – 1110m
1st – Qualosun 2nd – Satin Bird 3rd – Pellets 4th –Brave The Boss

Trainer M. Flannigan was fined $50 under LR42 regarding his failure to lodge a fully completed stable return for BLACK DAKOTA.

PINSZAH (M. Radecker) was fractious in the barriers prior to the start.

BARCLAYS (G. Colless) was slow to begin.

QUALOSUN (J. Byrne), WIND SHEAR (B. Pengelly) and SATIN BIRD (M. Cahill) were tightened on jumping away between IRISH ECHO (J. Holder), which was taken out by BRAVE THE BOSS (K. Yoshida), and PINSZAH, which was taken in by BLACK DAKOTA (G. Geran). Shortly after, BLACK DAKOTA had to be steadied off the heels of HALF DRUNK (J. Bowditch), which shifted in.

Approaching the 600m, PELLETS (T. Pannell), which was overracing, had to be steadied off the heels of WIND SHEAR (B. Pengelly).

Nearing the finish, PRECEPTION BAY (D. Griffin) and BRAVE THE BOSS came together and brushed.

GRACEMERE (M. Radecker), FIVE STRAIGHT (G. Geran) and THORONDO (R. Mason) were caught wide for the majority of the event.

Trainer M. Nilon was instructed that TOMARY JACK, which proved to be uncompetitive after being beaten a considerable distance, was to perform satisfactorily on the country circuit before he starts the horse again in the provincial or city area.


Race 3: Kimberley-Clark 3yo & Up Maiden – Div 1 – 1350m
1st – Red Abernant 2nd – Port Pgasus 3rd – Wind Gusts 4th – Miss Devito

PORT PEGASUS (G. Colless) and WIND GUSTS (J. Bowditch) jumped away awkwardly.

THORONDO (R. Mason) began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping GRACEMERE (M. Radecker).

RED ABERNANT (D. Coleman) and THORNTONIA (M. Price) came together on jumping away.

THORONDO overraced in the early and middle stages.

MISS DEVITO (S. Seamer) also overraced in the early and middle stages and approaching the 1000m shifted out, taking SHARNE (R. McMahon) wider. SHARNE was then forced to race wide for the remainder of the event. MISS DEVITO continued to overrace until near the 600m.


Race 4: Tesa 3yo & Up Maiden H’cap – 1350m
1st –Hallside Hero 2nd – Swiss Alps 3rd – Desert Boy 4th - Howgreenismyvalley

As J. Masset was to be overweight, D. Green was substituted as the rider of OURFIRSTBORNDREAMS. J. Masset was fined $100.

GOLD COAST EXPRESS (D. Tanti) jumped away awkwardly.

OURFIRSTBORNDREAMS (D. Green), which was slow to begin, was tightened shortly after the start between CAME RIPPIN (M. Radecker) and HOWGREENISMYVALLEY (J. Bowditch), which shifted out. HOWGREENISMYVALLEY was inclined to overrace and hung out for the remainder of the event.

Approaching the 1100m, HUNT FOR GLORY (N. Thomas) was steadied off the heels of WEIGHT’S RIGHT (S. Drake), which was eased at that point.

HUNT FOR GLORY (N. Thomas) was inclined to hang out on the home turn.

WEIGHT’S RIGHT (S. Drake) raced 3 wide throughout.

Mr D. Gaffa, trainer of OURFIRSTBORNDREAMS, which proved uncompetitive and finished a considerable distance from the remainder of the field, advised stewards that it would be his intention not to proceed with the current racing program for the gelding.


Race 5: Rubbermaid Class 1 H’cap - 1350m
1st – Sunday Adieu 2nd – Royal Lionne 3rd – Southern Sister 4th – Electric Lady

LADY MONASHEE (M. Radecker) jumped away awkwardly.

GEE GEE (N. Thomas) was slow to begin.

NICKADANE (D. Barron) and LIONOVA (D. Tanti) were both tightened for room shortly after the start between NIPPY (T. Pannell) and KALINGA BLAZE (G. Geran), which shifted in.

AWASE OUGI (A. Spinks) overraced in th early stages of the event, and near the 800m had to be steadied off the heels of SOUTHERN SISTER (D. Griffin).

At the same stage, ELECTRIC LADY (J. Bowditch) had to be steadied off the heels of ROYAL LIONNE (A. Erhart), which was overracing.

SUNDAY ADIEU (M. Cahill) had a tendency to hang out in the middle stages.

ELECTRIC LADY (J. Bowditch) was held up on straightening and shortly after when shifting out to obtain clear running tightened the ground of AWASE OUGI (A. Spinks), which had to be steadied. J. Bowditch, rider of ELECTRIC LADY, was reprimanded. A post-race veterinary examination of AWASE OUGI revealed the mare to have quartered the inside of the near hind heel.

KALINGA BLAZE (G. Geran) raced wide for the majority of the event.


Race 6: Nitto Four-Year-Old & Up Entires & Geldings Class 1 H’cap – 1350m
1st – Special Dad 2nd – Unique Upon Em 3rd – Reckon I’m Ready 4th - Savouring

SPECIAL DAD (S. Drake) and HOT SUN (D. Coleman) were slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, UNIQUE UPON EM (K. Banks) shifted in and bumped HOT SUN (D. Coleman).

PRINCE LIONHEART (A. Taylor) and PENDINE (N. Thomas) came together on jumping away.

Near the 900m, PENDINE was placed in restricted room between PRINCE LIONHEART and PENALIZED (W. Pearson), both of which had a tendency to shift ground.

Approaching the 800m, DONCIANO (J. Bowditch) improved up on to the heels of PRINCE LIONHEART and had to be steadied.

Nearing the 100m, DONCIANO was disappointed for a run inside PRINCE LIONHEART, which resulted in DONCIANO failing to secure clear running for the remainder of the event.


Race 7: Blackwoods Class 3 H’cap – 1110m
1st – Drop Of Hennessy 2nd – Moglich 3rd – Stirling 4th – Whispering Gypsy

JUNK IN THE TRUNK, which reared up in the barriers, striking its head, was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 3.31 p.m.. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on JUNK IN THE TRUNK were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 12 cents in the dollaron the face value of win bets, 11 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets. Trainer L. Birchley was advised that he would be required to provide a barrier certificate for JUNK IN THE TRUNK prior to its next race start.

STIRLING (R. McMahon) and YOUNG LION (A. Taylor) both began awkwardly.

Near the 900m, YOUNG LION shifted in, forcing MOGLICH (M. Cahill) on to LITTLE MISSIE (S. Drake), which in turn forced DROP OF HENNESSY (A. Spinks) on to TOP GUN LANE (J. Bowditch), which had a tendency to hang out, resulting in TOP GUN LANE being tighted for racing room. Stewards considered the incident came about as a result of a combination of factors, with no none rider or horse fully responsible and therefore took no action.

Also at the 900m, VEEWARU (D. Coleman) had to be steadied off the heels of TENFUHRCENT (S. Seamer), which was taken in by READY WHEN YOU ARE (M. Heagney).

GIRLS JEUNEY (K. Banks), READY WHEN YOU ARE and BOLD ACT (N. Thomas) were all caught racing wide for the majority of the event.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GIRLS JEUNEY, which tired badly over the final 200m after racing wide, K. Banks explaned that the horse felt flat during running and was always under pressure to maintain its position. A post-race veterinary examination of GIRLS JEUNEY failed to reveal any abnormalities. The explanation was noted.


Race 8: Pacific Hoist Class 6 H’cap – 1350m
1st –Charvicky 2nd – Whatatune 3rd – Bit Of Magic 4th – The Flying Cat

OUR EXCESS (S. Hughes) was slow to begin.

GREY EXPECTATIONS (M. Radecker) overraced in the early and middle stages and approaching the 900m, clipped the heels of BIT OF MAGIC (J. Bowditch) and blundered.

Approaching the 300m, UNBRIDLED FURY (P. Denton), which was under pressure, was momentarily tightened for room between TELFIRE (B. El-Issa) and GREY EXPECTATIONS (M. Radecker), which shifted out. M. Radecker, rider of GREY EXPECTATIONS, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.

J. Bowditch, rider of BIT OF MAGIC, was severely reprimanded for the manner in which he shifted ground leaving the 300m, which resulted in GREY EXPECTATIONS being tightened for room when racing on the inside of TELFIRE.

TELFIRE (B. El-Issa) was caught 3 wide throughout.

WHATATUNE (J. Holder) cast its off fore shoe in running.

Stewards questioned apprentice M. Radecker, rider of GREY EXPECTATIONS, and trainer Mr G. Logan, regarding the tactics adopted in the early stages of the event. G. Logan advised that the instructions were to go forward on the horse in the early stages of the event.. M. Radecker confirmed the instructions and advised that the horse did not begin as well as itrs previous start and was crossed by other runners. It then commenced to overrace, which resulted in the horse shifting in and becoming pocketed and placed in a position further back then connections expected. After considering the matter, M. Radecker was given the benefit of the doubt regarding her ride and the explanation was noted.

Race 9: Uvex Class 2 H’cap - 1350m
1st – Leges Opinio 2nd – Hayil’s Magic 3rd – Mr Rumpole 4th – Sir Phoenix

Trainer R. Heathcote was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for INNOCENT BY BIRTH by the prescribed time.

T. Pannell, who was injured in the barriers in race 7, was examined by the club’s doctor and stood down from his engagement on PAVLICHENKO and was replaced by R. McMahon.

LEVERAGE (K. Pope), MONACHIST (S. Drake) and INNOCENT BY BIRTH (M. Radecker) began awkwardly.

PAVLICHENKO (R. McMahon), SUBMERSIBLE (G. Geran), REBOUNDED (R. Mason) and TELETOR (G. Colless) all raced wide throughout.

Near the 1100m, MONARCHIST (S. Drake), which was overracing, clipped the heels of ANCIENT TITLES (J. Holder) and shifted in, causing SIR PHOENIX (B. Pengelly), LATIN TANGO (A. Spinks) and HOT GOSPEL (J. Bowditch) to be checked and TELETOR (G. Colless) to be inconvenienced and forced wider.

Near the 800m, LATIN TANGO was crowded for room by SIR PHOENIX, which was taken in by REBOUNDED (R. Mason).
