SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

As T. Pannell was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Superior Pak NMW H’cap – 1615m
1st –Mr Baadot 2nd – Santi 3rd – Rum Dum 4th – Mosta House

SANTI (K. Wharton) was slow to begin.

LAST HUMAM (M. Price) and MR BAADOT (G. Colless) were tightened for room on jumping away between BIT OF MAGIC (A. Coome), which shifted in, and JOHNNY (B. El-Issa), which shifted out.

Near the 1300m, SANTI (K. Wharton) had to be steadied when tightened for room by TYCOON TED (D. Carrigg), which was taken in by MOSTA HOUSE (J. Holder). J. Holder, rider of MOSTA HOUSE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Rounding the home turn, LAST HUMAM had to be steadied off the heels of MOSTA HOUSE (J. Holder), which shifted out to improve.

Shortly after entering the straight, MR BAADOT (G. Colless) shifted out and made contact with RUM DUM (S. Galloway). RUM DUM was then obliged to race in restricted room for some distance between VETTORI’S IMAGE (A. Spinks) and MR BAADOT.

Passing the 300m, TYCOON TED shifted out and brushed BIT OF MAGIC.

BIT OF MAGIC (A. Coome) and LAST HUMAM were forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

After passing the winning post, A. Spinks was dislodged from VETTORI’S IMAGE . A. Spinks was examined by the club’s doctor and stood down from his remaining engagements. Riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FLAG PARTY, J. Byrne stated that he could offer no explanation other than the gelding was racing over the mile for the first time, and the horse had a tendency to overrace in the early stages. He further added that when he applied pressure to FLAG PARTY near the 600m, the horse failed to resond to his riding. The explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of FLAG PARTY failed to reveal any abnormalities.

A post-race veterinary examination of LADY’S OPINION revealed the mare to be suffering form metabolic heat syndrome.


Race 2: Drive Recruitment Class 6 Plate - 2200m
1st – Scattergun 2nd – Wakil 3rd – Gee Gee 4th - Greenfinder

AEROSOL (R. Mason) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

RUNNING RICH (J. Byrne) was inclined to overrace in the early stages, and approching the 1300m, had to be steadied off the heels of BARON SEATTLE (K. Wharton).

WAKIL (A. Coome) was obliged to raced wide in the middle stages.

Near the 500m, GREENFINDER (S. Scriven) improved on to the heels of NELLIE GOT THERE (W. Pearson) and had to be steadied.


Race 3: Royal Childrens Hospital Foundation 2yo H’cap - 1110m
1st – Artwork 2nd – Bonza Crop 3rd – Legal Perfume 4th – Carry On Kosa

PRIVATE KISS (J. Bowditch) and PRINCESS KAREN (G. Colless) came together on jumping away.

ARTWORK (R. McMahon) and CONTESTED BID (R. Plumb) came together on jumping away.

Approaching the 800m, BONZA CROP (S. Galloway), which had a tendency to overrace slightly, shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of CARRY ON KOSA (K. Banks). ONE FOR THE GIRLS (S. Drake), which was following, had to be steadied as a consequence. CABLEMAN (M. Price), which was following ONE FOR THE GIRLS, shifted out, forcing JOVELON (B. El-Issa) wider on the track. JOVELON was then obliged to race wide for the remainder of the event.

Leaving the 300m, CABLEMAN (M. Price) had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between PRIVATE KISS (J. Bowditch) and LEGAL PERFUME (K. Forrester) where there was doubtful room.

Nearing the 200m, ARTWORK (R. McMahon) shifted out to improve around the heels of JOVELON (B. El-Issa) and in doing so made contact with FELINE HUNTER (J. Byrne).

Passing the 100m, PRINCESS KAREN (G. Colless) and JOVELON (B. El-Issa) brushed.

FELINE HUNTER was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Post race veterinary examinations revealed:

CONTESTED BID – Metabolic heat syndrome.
PRINCESS KAREN – Galloped on near hind tendon
PRIVATE KISS – No abnormalities


Race 4: Swan Services NMW H’cap - 1200m
1st – Sammy’s Illusion 2nd – Couples Of Three 3rd – Crafty King 4th – Paradise Dancer

THE BIG EASY was a late scratching at 1 p.m. on veterinary advice.

NORTHERN GAME (S. Drake) blundered on jumping away, almost dislodging its rider.

Approaching the 1100m, NORTHERN GAME (S. Drake) commenced to overrace and near the 700m shifted out off the heels of CHARLIE CHEESE (S. Apthorpe), forcing PARADISE DANCER (B. El-Issa) wider on the track. NORTHERN GAME (S. Drake) continued to race ungenerously for some distance thereafter.


Race 5: Sulo 3yo Class 6 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Go Sequalo 2nd – Exorbitant 3rd – Ancient Impulse 4th - Moodee

WINAURA (S. Drake) jumped outwards at the start, making contact with SNIP OF KINTYRE (J. Powell).

HESASHOW (G. Colless) and VARGAS GIRL (B. El-Issa) came together on jumping away.

Near the 800m, KALINGA ERA (K. Wharton), SWEET AS (J. Bowditch), ROSCO’S CIRCUS (N. Day) and EXORBITANT (S. Scriven) were all placed in restricted room to the inside of GO SEQUALO (A. Coome), which shifted in and away from SNIP OF KINTYRE (J. Powell). In this incident, EXORBITANT and SWEET AS lost ground.

J. Bowditch, rider of SWEET AS, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that passing the 400m he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of ANCIENT IMPULSE, resulting in ANCIENT IMPULSE clipping the heels of SWEET AS and blundering. J. Bowditch was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 28 March, and to expire at midnight, 11 April and to expire at midnight, 11 April 2007.

ANCIENT IMPULSE (R. Plumb) was placed in restricted room near the 100m between MOODEE (J. Byrne) and SWEET AS (J. Bowditch), which shifted in. In this incident, ANCIENT IMPULSE was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of J. Bowditch, rider of SWEET AS.

Passing the 100m, ROSCO’S CIRCUS (N. Day) had to be steadied off the heels of WINAURA (S. Drake).

GO SEQUALO (A. Coome) and SNIP OF KINTYRE (J. Powell) raced wide throughout.

A post-race veterinary examination of HESASHOW failed to reveal any abnormalities.


Race 6: Document Destruction Open H’cap – 1615m
1st – Special Song 2nd – King Of Soul 3rd – Hissy Fit 4th – Nevada Gambler

KING OF SOUL (J. Holder), FRISCO’S HAREM (G. Colless) and MASTER STRATEGY (K. Forrester) were all tightened for room on jumping away between HISSY FIT (R. McMahon) and RA RA RULENZA (H. Hamada), both of which shifted ground.

Shortly after straightening, RA RA RULENZA (H. Hamada) shifted out, making contact with AIDAN JAMES (M. Price).

Inside the final 100m, MASTER STRATEGY (K. Forrester) had difficulty obtaining clear running.

TAISHO (M. Cahill) and AIDEN JAMES (M. Price) raced wide for the majority of the event.


Race 7: Sita Environmental Solutions Flying H’cap – 1110m
1st – My Son Day 2nd – Birthday Bash 3rd – Sectagonal 4th - Omnitrader

Near the 200m, GENERAL PATTON (J. Bowditch) had to be steadied when tightened for room between BIRTHDAY BASH (G. Colless) and BLACK SUIT (H. Hamada), which shifted out. Apprentice Hamada was severely reprimanded for failing to make any effort to prevent his mount shifting out. He was also advised that should he show a similar lack of urgency to correct his mounts when they shift ground in future, his permit to ride in the metropolitan area would be withdrawn.

BLACK SUIT (H. Hamada), SIR WINALOT (W. Pearson) and FOXMORE (M. Price) raced wide for the majority of the event.


Race 8: Blacks Trucks Class 6 H’cap – 1350m
1st – Charvicky 2nd – Socialist 3rd – Sha’Bourne Regal 4th – Roman Squire

CHARVICKY (K. Wharton) and SOCIALIST (J. Powell) were slow to begin.

BLOOD ‘N’ BONE (G. Colless) jumped inwards at the start, making contact with NITROGEN NARCOSIS (B. El-Issa).

Passing the 1000m, BITABIFF (H. Dertli) shifted in, making contact with NITROGEN NARCOSIS. A short distance later, NITROGEN NARCOSIS shifted in, hampering STOOD UP (H. Hamada).

Approaching the 900m, WELCOME SITE (S. Drake) had to be steadied off the heels of TRICK ON TRACK (J. Bowditch). BITABIFF, which was following, also had to be steadied.

S. Drake, rider of WELCOME SITE, accidentally dropped his whip near the 50m.

BEARCOUNTRY (J. Byrne) and ROMAN SQUIRE (M. Cahill) raced wide for the majority of the race.

Shortly after straightening,CHARVICKY (K. Wharton) shifted out to improve around the heels of TRICK ON TRACK (J. Bowditch) and in doing so made contact with the hind quarters of NITROGEN NARCOSIS (B. El-Issa).

After passing the winning post CHASIN’ TAIL suffered a suspected heart attack. CHASIN’ TAIL was sent for an independent autopsy.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BLOOD ‘N’ BONE, G. Colless stated he was forced to race wide early, however he obtained a position one off shortly after rounding the first turn. He further added that the gelding was under pressure near the 500m and was forced wider rounding the home turn. The expanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of BLOOD ‘N’ BONE failed to reveal any abnormalities.
