SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
B. El-Issa pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 175(p) of failing to obey a stewards’ direction and was fined $100.
Race 1: TOLL/QRX 0MW H’CAP – 2100M
1st – Sunday Adieu 2nd – Better Jetsetter 3rd – Winegrove 4th – Looks Can Deceive
GOLD COAST EXPRESS (K. Forrester) was hampered on jumping away between NATURAL GLAMOUR (J. Powell) and KIND ACT (S. Drake), both of which shifted ground.
After passing the 1900m SHALE SHAKER (C. Spry) commenced to hang out and prior to the 1700m GOLD COAST EXPRESS had to be steadied to avoid that horse’s heels.
PAPPAO (S. Scriven) raced wide for the majority of the event.
KIND ACT raced wide in the middle stages.
When the pace steadied approaching the 1200m SUNDAY ADIEU (M. Cahill) had to be steadied off the heels of NATURAL GLAMOUR. BEARTRACKER (G. Colless), which was following, had to be steadied as a consequence. At the same stage BETTER JETSETTER (W. Pearson) also had to be steadied.
Near the 900m KIND ACT had to be steadied when tightened for room between SHALE SHAKER and GOLD COAST EXPRESS which was taken in by LOOKS CAN DECEIVE (J. Holder). J. Holder was reprimanded under AR. 137(a)
At the 600m SUNDAY ADIEU improved on to the heels of NATURAL GLAMOUR and had to be steadied.
SUNDAY ADIEU was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
Approaching the 200m BETTER JETSETTER shifted out and brushed WINEGROVE (N. Thomas).
Inside the final 50m BEARTRACKER and LOOKS CAN DECEIVE (J. Holder) came together.
Race 2: INGHAMS 3YO H’CAP – 1615M
1st – Saggio 2nd – King Leonidas 3rd – Rebounded 4th – Ready When You Are
SAGGIO (N. Thomas) and YIELD CURVE (J. Sharp) came together on jumping away.
TORINO LUGE (C. Spry) jumped away awkwardly.
MR MOJITO (G. Colless) overraced on the heels of REBOUNDED (M. Radecker) in the early stages.
KING LEONIDAS (S. Scriven) was caught wide in the early stages.
REBOUNDED was held up for clear running from near the 150m until after passing the 100m.
Near the 50m when REBOUNDED shifted out to improve around the heels of KING LEONIDAS, TORINO LUGE had to be steadied.
MR MOJITO hung in for the majority of the straight.
A post-race veterinary examination of MR MOJITO failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 3: PARMALAT 2YO H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Sutton Friend 2nd – Indiana Storm 3rd – Chilli Magic 4th – Mr Blond
NASHAMA was a late scratching at 8:22 a.m. by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice.
LIGHTS OFF (S. Seamer) was slow to begin.
LEMARAC STAR (R. Plumb) jumped in at the start and made contact with GOLD LAND (S. Scriven).
MR BLONDE (J. Holder) jumped out at the start and made contact with CHILLI MAGIC (B. Stewart).
Shortly after the start CHILLI MAGIC shifted out and bumped INDIANA STORM (K. Wharton).
Passing the 1000m CHASSEUSE (J. Byrne) commenced to overrace and near the 800m shifted out across the heels of LEMARAC STAR and as a result CHASSEUSE was then obliged to race wide for the remainder of the event.
Passing the 800m RUNAWAY SHADOW (M. Radecker) was placed in restricted room to the inside of CHILLI MAGIC which had improved quickly to the inside of LEMARAC STAR (R. Plumb) which shifted in slightly. In this incident CHILLI MAGIC was then inclined to shift in and away from LEMARAC STAR.
Near the 700m INDIANA STORM shifted out and bumped BURN ME UP (J. Powell).
CHLLI MAGIC was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
CHILLI MAGIC and GOLD LAND were held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.
Passing the 100m GOLD LAND was placed in restricted room between TENTERFIELD (A. Spinks) and LEMARAC STAR which was taken in slightly by NAVAL PORT (B. El-Issa). As a result GOLD LAND was unable to obtain clear running for the remainder of the event.
Race 4: MORAITIS FRESH PRODUCE – 1200M
1st – Manic Monday 2nd – Schapelle 3rd – Unswerving 4th – Miss Clang
SISTER CATHERINE (D. Peisley) jumped away awkwardly and made contact with IN MY SIGHTS (J. Byrne).
MISS CLANG (M. Radecker), SCHAPELLE (M. Price) and SEISMIC LADY (S. Galloway) all raced wide throughout.
When racing in restricted room near the 600m LIBBY’S RAINBOW (S. Seamer), which was inclined to lay out, had to be steadied.
Over the concluding stages in the straight IN MY SIGHTS was inclined to lay in.
Near the 100m LIBBY’S RAINBOW improved up on to the heels of IN MY SIGHTS and had to be steadied.
Passing the 50m POIYM (W. Pearson) shifted out and bumped SISTER CATHERINE.
When questioned regarding the performance of POLARIS, jockey C. Spry explained that he rode the horse forward as instructed, however he could offer no explanation other than that the horse compounded badly inside the final 200m. A post-race veterinary examination of POLARIS failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 5: COCA-COLA H’CAP – 1200M
1st – Elegant Roi 2nd – Sammys Illusion 3rd – Digging Deep 4th – Mr Honrblower
Trainer L. Ross was fined $100 under LR. 70 for failing to declare D. Peisley as the rider of SAMMYS ILLUSION by the prescribed time.
LIKAZYRTEC (K. Wharton) jumped out at the start taking SAMMYS ILLUSION (D. Peisley) out on to SOCIALIST (J. Powell).
Passing the 300m MR HORNBLOWER (S. Scriven) had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of SIR SUCCESS, which shifted out.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CHEVRON ISLAND, jockey S. Galloway stated that the gelding may not have been entirely comfortable with the quick tempo of today’s event. He added that CHEVRON ISLAND was under pressure shortly after passing the 700m. S. Galloway also stated that in his opinion the horse may be better suited in races over a longer distance at this stage of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination of CHEVRON ISLAND failed to reveal any abnormalities.
When questioned regarding the poor performance of SOCIALIST, jockey J. Powell stated that he was unable to explain the horse’s performance today. Trainer T. Gollan stated that SOCIALIST had worked well leading into today’s event, however in his opinion the horse may not have backed up following its run at Doomben on 24 March. A post-race veterinary examination of SOCIALIST failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Apprentice R. Plumb, the rider of 5th placegetter DANCE HUNTER, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 137(b) of failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race and was fined $500.
Race 6: PURE AND NATURAL BEVERAGES 0MW H’CAP – 1110M
1st – Qualo 2nd – Tropiqualo 3rd – San Franfrisco 4th – Forever Amen
ALIFLY (M. Morris) was slow to begin.
ORRONG (A. Coome) raced wide throughout.
Near the 700m DESKTOP MAGIC (M. Cahill) improved up on to the heels of BUTTOUT (J. Holder) and had to be steadied.
Leaving the 500m SAN FRANFRISCO had to be checked when tightened for room by SLICK OPERATOR (S. Hughes) which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. FOREVER AMEN (M. Price), which was following, was hampered. SLICK OPERATOR then shifted out abruptly, hampering TROPIQUALO (J. Powell). Trainer D. Farrell was advised that SLICK OPERATOR must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before it is permitted to start in races.
The Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that SLICK OPERATOR was galloped on behind the near hock.
A post-race veterinary examination revealed ORRONG to be sore in both forelegs. Trainer Ms L. Manzelmann will be advised that she must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for ORRONG prior to its next start.
Race 7: NESTLE H’CAP – 1350M
1st – Birthday Bash 2nd – Feelin Dandy 3rd – Vocalic 4th – Denmarket
BOHEMIAN DANCER (J. Byrne), TELLEM (D. Peisley) and WARRIOR TRADER (B. El-Issa) were slow to begin.
SONG TIME (J. Jones) raced wide in the early stages.
DAMIGOS (B. Stewart) and PROUDLY AGRO (G. McCarthy) raced wide throughout.
Approaching the 800m NOBLE GAZE (K. Wharton) commenced to overrace on the heels of CENTENN (R. Plumb) and did so for some distance.
Approaching the 400m WARRIOR TRADER (B. El-Issa) had to be steadied off the heels of NOBLE GAZE.
Near the 150m BLOOD ‘N’ BONE (R. McMahon) had to alter course away from the heels of NOBLE GAZE which shifted out under pressure.
Near the 150m BOHEMIAN DANCER had to be steadied to avoid the heels of TELLEM which shifted in under pressure. D. Peisley, the rider of TELLEM, was reprimanded under AR. 137(a).
Approaching the 100m CENTENN improved on to the heels of DAMIGOS and had to be steadied.
G. Colless, the rider of BIRTHDAY BASH, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a), the careless riding being that after passing the winning post he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of VOCALIC (C. Spry), resulting in VOCALIC having to be checked, striking heels and blundering, almost dislodging its rider. G. Colless’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, with the period of suspension to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 4 April, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 15 April 2007.
K. Wharton, the rider of NOBLE GAZE, was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.
A post-race veterinary examination of CENTENN failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 8: CLOVER HILL H’CAP – 1615M
1st – Sha’bourne Regal 2nd – No Doubt At All 3rd – Winsome Loot 4th - Bitabiff
Trainer S. Tregea was fined $100 under LR. 42 for failing to lodge a stable return for SHA’BOURNE REGAL by the prescribed time.
POPPY POWER (J. Taylor) and MONASEECI (S. Drake) raced wide in the early stages.
WINSOME LOOT (D. Peisley) overraced in the early and middle stages.
NO DOUBT AT ALL (A. Coome) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Near the 600m MESMERISING (J. Byrne) shifted out from behind the heels of THIRTYSIXRED (J. Jones) and attempted to take a run where there was doubtful room to the inside of BITABIFF (K. Forrester) which, when attempting to maintain its position, made heavy contact with MESMERISING, resulting in MESMERISING being checked and resuming its position on the rails.
Rounding the home turn SPECTACULAR PIC (S. Galloway) shifted out and bumped MAMELUKE (R. Plumb).
Apprentice M. Price, the rider of SHA’BOURNE REGAL, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a), the careless riding being that near the 250m she permitted her mount to shift out and make heavy contact with MESMERISING (J. Byrne), resulting in MESMERISING becoming unbalanced and shifting out a number of horses. M. Price’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Sunday, 1 April, and expire at midnight on Friday, 13 April 2007.
Near the 100m MONASEECI had to be momentarily steadied when tightened for room between LESMARTRE (B. El-Issa) and SHA’BOURNE REGAL (M. Price) which shifted out.
