LATIN IDOL (T. Treichel) was caught four wide rounding the first turn.
Approaching the 100m GRAND CORSO (S. Galloway) was momentarily hampered when TACKMAN (A. Pattillo) shifted in under pressure.
When questioned as to the seemingly improved performance of TACKMAN in winning today, trainer B. Laming stated that the horse, whilst appreciating the step-up in distance from 1600m, was also not suited at its most recent start at Ballina when obliged to race wide on a rain-affected track. He added that the horse was also trapped wide at its previous start over 1800m at Eagle Farm on 7 July. In respect of today’s event, Mr Laming stated that the horse was not only suited by the extra distance but also appreciated the pattern of the race, being positioned mid-field. The explanation was noted.
Race 2: LASER ANTENNA H’CAP – 1350m
1st – Rosekay Heart 2nd – My Limit 3rd – Jad 4th – Hussta La Vista
As S. Katsidis failed to arrive at the course on time to take his ride on JELLICLES due to traffic delays travelling to the course, K. Pope was substituted as the rider of JELLICLES.
As C. Spry was to be overweight, T. Treichel was substituted as the rider of PRINCE COCHISE; J. Holder as the rider of MOGLICH (Race 4) and S. Galloway as the rider of NOBLE GENT (Race 7). C. Spry was fined $500 under AR. 120(b).
REVERED RULER (J. Holder) was slow to jump.
Apprentice Michael Palmer, the rider of MOPPETT, was severely reprimanded under AR. 137(a) for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1200m which resulted in JELLICLES (K. Pope) and CONQUERING SPIRIT (G. Colless) both having their racing room restricted, particularly CONQUERING SPIRIT, which had to be eased to avoid the heels of JAD (J. Byrne).
PELLTRO (P. Wolfgram) was obliged to race three wide for the majority of the event.
G. Colless, the rider of CONQUERING SPIRIT, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a), the careless riding being that near the 300m he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of JELLICLES, resulting in that horse having to be checked. G. Colless’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Thursday, 2 August, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 12 August 2007.
Near the 100m PELLTRO had to be steadied when momemtarily tightened for room by ROSEKAY HEART (J. Taylor) which shifted in under pressure. FRIENDLY EMBRACE (K. Forrester) was held up for some distance until leaving the 200m.
BOOBOO (S. Katsidis) was badly held up and unable to obtain clear running at any stage in the straight.

PROSECUTION (A. Pattillo) jumped awkwardly.
G. Colless, the rider of BLOOD ‘N’ BONE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a), the careless riding being that near the 400m he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of RAPID REASON (M. Radecker), resulting in that horse being checked and losing its position. G. Colless’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 meetings, to be served concurrently with the period of suspension imposed in Race 2, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Thursday, 2 August, and expire at midnight on Friday, 17 August 2007.
HARBOUR MAGIC (K. Pope) had difficulty obtaining clear running until the closing stages of the event.
BLOOD ‘N’ BONE (G. Colless) shifted in and away from STYLISH QUALO (S. Galloway) just past the finishing line, making heavy contact with VILLA BLED (J. Holder).

Near the 100m NOBLE GENT (S. Galloway) became momentarily held up on the heels of the tiring MYNDOS.
When questioned as to the riding tactics on SIR MONASHEE, particularly in the early stages, trainer D. Bell stated that he had instructed J. Holder to endeavour to ride the horse with cover and back in the field today as he felt the horse would be better suited ridden in that fashion from the awkward barrier draw. D. Bell added that the horse had raced successfully in the past when ridden quietly and felt the horse is better suited ridden with cover back in the field. Jockey J. Holder confirmed the instructions to not make use of the horse from the barrier and felt that after straightening the horse made ground, however over the concluding stages the horse had come to the end of its run.
Race 8: BDO KENDALLS H’CAP – 1200m
1st – Bold Reason 2nd – Socialist 3rd – Tornadic Sky 4th – Mighty Victory
COCCOLARE, which hit its head in the barriers when it became fractious, was a late scratching at 4:46 p.m. Following the late withdrawal of COCCOLARE, stewards ordered that all monies invested on the horse be refunded in full, with deductions of 9 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets and 10 cents in the dollar on the face value of place tickets to apply.
HALLUCE’S DEVOTION (Michael Palmer) hit the barrier partition and jumped away awkwardly, making contact with GENERAL SAM (B. Pengelly).
OUR JANGLES (K. Pope) and STEP RIGHT IN (A. Coome) brushed on jumping away.
STEP RIGHT IN was caught wide rounding the first turn and was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event.
Leaving the 800m INSTRUCTED (S. Scriven) was inclined to overrace and had to be restrained away from the heels of CONSIDER YOURSELF (J. Byrne).
Near the 200m INSTRUCTED was momentarily cramped for room by SOCIALIST (Matthew Palmer) which shifted in.
Leaving the 200m OUR PRIVATE JET (G. Colless) had to be eased to avoid the heels of OUR JANGLES (K. Pope) which shifted out to improve. K. Pope was advised to provide more clearance when shifting his ground.
When questioned as to the disappointing performance of INSTRUCTED, jockey S. He felt that the horse may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer’s representative Mr S.
