SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

As S. Galloway was indisposed, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Raceday Summary.

As C. Spry was unable to fulfil his two engagements at 53kg, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Raceday Summary. C. Spry was fined $300 on each infringement under AR. 120(b). Stewards also instructed C. Spry that he must not accept riding engagements below 54kg.

Race 1: RUSSELL DANIELLS THE GOOD GUYS QTIS 2YO H’CAP - 1200m
1st – Cat D’Antibes 2nd – Saratoga 3rd – Youthful Jack 4th – Zahite

SUPER MOON (B. El-Issa) was slow to begin.

ROCKING ROONEY (C. Spry) jumped out at the start.

After passing the 800m ZAHITE (B. Looker), which obtained the lead, commenced to steady. FEISTY MANNER (P. Wells), which was following, improved up on to that horse’s heels and shifted out momentarily forcing CAT D’ANTIBES (J. Holder) three wide.

HYDE PARK (J. Byrne) was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

Passing the 100m KICKITBACKLOW (K. Wharton) was momentarily placed in restricted room between HYDE PARK and SARATOGA (P. Wolfgram) which shifted out.

A post-race veterinary examination or YOUTHFUL JACK revealed the gelding to be shin sore in the off foreleg.

Race 2: TATE MASON THE GOOD GUYS 0MW H’CAP - 1200m
1st – Tellasecret 2nd – Helideck 3rd – Rum Dum 4th – Paradise Dancer

Trainer B. Cavanough was fined $100 under LR. 70 for failing to declare B. Pengelly as the rider of HELIDECK by the prescribed time.

WAZZRODIN (B. Looker) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out making heavy contact with SLICK TRICK (M. Hughes).

STEEL LIPS (P. Wells) was placed in restricted room on jumping away between HELIDECK (B. Pengelly) and INNOCENT HARRY (A. Coome) which shifted out after jumping away awkwardly.

Passing the 900m HELIDECK improved up on to the heels of STEEL LIPS and had to be steadied.

MORNING COLOURS (J. Byrne) was forced to race wide in the early stages.

HELIDECK was forced to race wide in the middle stages.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MORNING COLOURS jockey J. Byrne could offer no explanation for the horse’s performance today. Trainer B. Guy stated that the horse in his opinion may not have backed up today following its first-up run at the Gold Coast on 24 March 2008. He added that throughout the horse’s career its second-up form has been below expectations.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MORNING COLOURS and MAJOR BOYINGTON (B. El-Issa) failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 3: JAMES BROCKHURST THE GOOD GUYS QTIS 3YO H’CAP - 1200m
1st – Nericon King 2nd – One Eyed 3rd – Hey Elvis 4th – Stature

AMEX GOLD (B. Looker) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

PLENTY OF PRACTISE (K. Cunningham) was slow to begin.

RUNAWAY SHADOW (A. Taylor) raced wide throughout.

MY LIMIT (R. Wiggins) was inclined to lay out under pressure over the concluding stages.

A post-race veterinary examination of AMEX GOLD failed to reveal any abnormalities.

A post-race veterinary examination of YUKETAN (J. Taylor) revealed the horse to be suffering a mild case of heat stress.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of AMEX GOLD, apprentice B. Looker stated that after beginning awkwardly and losing ground the colt never travelled throughout the event. Trainer A. Bailey could offer no excuses for AMEX GOLD other than to reiterate that the horse performed disappointingly today. Mr Bailey undertook to advise stewards in the days subsequent to the event should anything come to light that may have affected the horse’s performance.

Race 4: ALF SAID THE GOOD GUYS 0MW H’CAP - 2040m
1st – Formula One Racer 2nd – Craiglea Countess 3rd – Champion’s League 4th – Yield Curve

FORTUNATUS FIDELIS was a late scratching at 12:58 p.m. by order of the stewards acting in veterinary advice.

IN PHUKET (N. Paine) overraced in the early stages.

ADD IT UP (A. Taylor) commenced to overrace passing the 1200m and near the 800m shifted out off the heels of CHAMPION’S LEAGUE (R. Thompson).

BEARTRACKER (R. Wiggins) raced wide in the early stages.

THUNDER BEACH (M. Radecker) and FORMULA ONE RACE (B. Pengelly) raced wide throughout.

When the pace steadied near the 800m FLOOD HERO (A. Spinks), YIELD CURVE (J. Byrne) and SEBASTIEN (J. Taylor) all had to be steadied.

After having difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight, CAP RIVIERA (J. Holder) attempted a run where there was doubtful room between BEARTRACKER and IN PHUKET and as a result had to be checked near the 150m. CAP RIVIERA was then unable to obtain clear running for the remainder of the event.

Passing the 100m IN PHUKET and BEARTRACKER were placed in restricted room between CRAIGLEA COUNTESS (A. Pattillo) and THUNDER BEACH, which was taken in slightly by FORMULA ONE RACER.

BEARTRACKER lost its near hind plate in running.

Race 5: FRANCIE VINCENT THE GOOD GUYS 0MW H’CAP - 1030m
1st – Dance Hunter 2nd – Ulladulla 3rd – Looking Fur Lang 4th – Qualo Star

Trainer B. Cavanough was fined $100 under LR. 70 for failing to declare B. Pengelly as the rider of XAARDANTE by the prescribed time.

FASLIYITSA (N. Paine) jumped away awkwardly.

LOOKING FUR LANG (A. Pattillo) raced wide in the early stages.

Near the 800m REGAL MEGAN (A. Coome) had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room by LENNON (B. Looker) which shifted in after receiving a bump from XAARDANTE (B. Pengelly). B. Pengelly was severely reprimanded under AR. 137(a) for allowing his mount to shift in.

Near the 500m LENNON shifted out and made contact with XAARDANTE (B. Pengelly), forcing that horse wider on the track.

The veterinary surgeon reported that, on post-race examination, XAARDANTE was making an abnormal respiratory noise. Stewards advised trainer B. Cavanough that before XAARDANTE’s next start he must produce a veterinary certificate and the results of an endoscopic examination.

Race 6: AIREN YOUHANNA THE GOOD GUYS H’CAP - 1350m
1st – Charvicky 2nd – Feelin Dandy 3rd – Gatakers Bay 4th – Hear Ye

HIT THE ROAD (B. Looker) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

READY WHEN YOU ARE (J. Byrne) was slow to begin.

HIT THE ROAD overraced in the early stages.

THIS TOO SHALLPASS (P. Wolfgram) and BECKS CROWN (K. Wharton) raced wide throughout.

Jockey B. El-Issa, the rider of FALZIG, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a), the careless riding being that near the 150m he permitted his mount to shift in under riding when insufficiently clear of READY WHEN YOU ARE, resulting in READY WHEN YOU ARE being tightened for room between THIS TOO SHALLPASS and FALZIG and having to be checked to avoid the heels of FALZIG. B. El-Issa’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Thursday, 17 April and expire at midnight on Wednesday, 7 May 2008.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SCENIC RULE, apprentice M. Palmer stated that the horse never felt comfortable throughout the event and when placed under pressure shortly after straightening failed to respond to his riding. Trainer Mrs G. Heinrich stated that the horse in her opinion raced below expectations and undertook to advise stewards in the days subsequent to the event should anything come to light that may have affected the horse’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination of SCENIC RULE failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.

Race 7: DALE ROCHE THE GOOD GUYS DOOMBEN DASH - 1110m
1st - Babinda Half 2nd – Sectagonal 3rd – Stylish Qualo 4th – Tropiqualo

SEQUALLAN (P. Wolfgram) and MY SON DAY (M. Radecker) raced wide throughout.

Rounding the home turn TROPIQUALO (L. Morrison) attempted to savage THE HAMMER (P. Wells).

SECTAGONAL (A. Pattillo) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.

Near the 200m SECTAGONAL shifted out and in doing so made contact with THE HAMMER which in turn shifted out and bumped SEQUALLAN. At the same stage DANCE THE WAVES (Michael Palmer) had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of STYLISH QUALO (J. Taylor) which shifted in slightly.

Jockey K. Wharton, the rider of NESSUNO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a), the careless riding being that near the 200m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of PAY ME (A. Spinks), resulting in PAY ME having to be checked. K. Wharton’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Thursday, 17 April, and expire at midnight on Friday, 2 May 2008.

A post-race veterinary examination of STARLACTIC failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 8: LACHLAN AKERS THE GOOD GUYS H’CAP - 1640m
1st – Sir Xaar 2nd – Belles Opinion 3rd – Stage Shaker 4th – Easily Done

SHEWHOMUSTBEOBEYED (P. Wells), which refused to jump, lost considerable ground. Trainer L. Mayfield-Smith was advised that SHEWHOMUSTBEOBEYED must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next start.

OUR PRIVATE JET (C. Spry), which jumped away awkwardly, was crowded on jumping away between CRAIGLEA CHARM (A. Coome) and REBOUNDED (M. Radecker) which shifted in.

RED SPHERE (J. Byrne) overraced in the early stages.

RAM JAM INN (P. Wolfgram) and OUR PRIVATE JET had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.

STAGE SHAKER (B. Pengelly) was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

A post-race veterinary examination of PASS THE PLATE revealed the gelding to be sore in the near fore fetlock. Trainer L. Ross was advised that he must obtain a veterinary clearance prior to the horse’s next start.
