SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
As A. Coombe was indisposed, riding replacements were made as per the Race Day Summary.
Race 1: XXXX GOLD 0MW LY H’CAP - 1615m
1st – Dawn’s Pride 2nd – Very Canny 3rd – One For None 4th – Enrique
As T. Pannell was overweight, stewards permitted K. Pope as the replacement rider of ADD IT UP. T. Pannell was fined $200 under AR. 120(b).
As R. McMahon was overweight, stewards allowed S. Dye to ride PREND half a kilogram overweight. R. McMahon was fined $200 under AR. 120(b).
ART SUCCESS (K. Cunningham) and DEVASTATING (Michael Palmer) were slow to begin.
Passing the 1400m GO GAZZA (B. El-Issa) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ENRIQUE (J. Byrne) which shifted in slightly.
SHAMIR (J. Taylor) raced wide in the early stages.
Near the 800m when the pace eased WINGS OF SERAPH (A. Pattillo) had to be steadied off the heels of ONE FOR NONE (C. Brown). DAWN’S PRIDE (A. Spinks), which was following, also had to be eased and shifted out slightly. GO GAZZA, which was following, improved to the inside of DAWN’S PRIDE of its own accord and in doing so tightened ADD IT UP (K. Pope). As a result of ADD IT UP being steadied, ALTO ADIGE (D. Coleman) had to be steadied.
Rounding the home turn PICABLU (J. Holder), which was endeavouring to shift out to improve around the heels of PARADISE DANCER (S. Baster), made contact with ONE FOR NONE (C. Brown) on several occasions.
Shortly after entering the straight VERY CANNY (S. Galloway) had to be momentarily steadied when that horse was disappointed for a run between SHAMIR and ANSWER ME (K. Wharton).
On returning to scale the iron on PREND’S saddle broke, resulting in its rider S. Dye being dislodged. Jockey S. Dye was examined by the Club doctor and passed fit to fulfil his engagements for the remainder of the day.
Race 2: OOH! MEDIA 1MW LY H’CAP - 1350m
1st – Masai Pride 2nd – One Eyed 3rd – Charvicky 4th – Rule By Right
MASAI PRIDE (B. Pengelly) was slow to begin.
SAM’S EXPRESS (S. Dye) and UMAPRINCE (M. Palmer) brushed on jumping away.
FEELIN DANDY (S. Baster) and UMAPRINCE raced wide throughout.
Shortly after straightening BIKKIE TIN BLUES (M. Hellyer) shifted out and bumped GENERAL ALBERT (C. Brown). OUR JANGLES (J. Taylor), which was following, had to be momentarily eased.
Passing the 300m ELA YE MOU (A. Spinks), which was attempting a run where there was doubtful room between FINE CHEVAL (D. Oliver) and SPECIAL VOYAGE (J. Watkins), had to be checked. MASAI PRIDE, which was following, was obliged to alter course in consequence. ELA YE MOU was then unable to obtain clear running for the remainder of the event.
Passing the 100m FINE CHEVAL shifted out and brushed SPECIAL VOYAGE.
A post-race veterinary examination of SAM’S EXPRESS failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 3: BRISBANETIMES.COM.AU H’CAP - 1200m
1st – Moglich 2nd – Ulladulla 3rd – Felixtrinidad 4th – Columate
ALTERNATE was a late scratching at 8:28 a.m. by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice.
Stewards noted the explanation from trainer B. Wakefield regarding the late declaration of R. Wiggins as the rider of POIYM.
Trainers B. Wakefield (POIYM) and R. Bradshaw (FASLIYITSA) were each fined $50 under AR. 124 for the late presentation of their runners into the enclosure.
WOODY ‘N’ BUZZ (A. Pattillo) and FASLIYITSA (M. Hellyer) were slow to begin.
STOLIT (M. Palmer) blundered on jumping away and shifted in bumping BORSHA’S WARRIOR (C. Brown).
BORSHA’S WARRIOR, FELIXTRINIDAD (D. Oliver) and VOCALIC (M. Price) raced wide throughout.
Approaching the 300m COLUMATE (G. Schofield) and BORSHA’S WARRIOR brushed.
Passing the 300m VOCALIC shifted in and bumped WOODY ‘N’ BUZZ. WOODY ‘N’ BUZZ then shifted out making heavy contact with VOCALIC, which became unbalanced and shifted out.
Apprentice M. Palmer, the rider of STOLIT, accidentally dropped his whip approaching the 200m.
A post-race veterinary examination of LOOKING FUR LANG (D. Spriggs) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The veterinary surgeon reported that ULLADULLA (J. Byrne) quartered its near fore heel.
Race 4: XXXX GOLD GOLDEN STAKES PLATE - 1200m
1st – Acorns 2nd – Youthful Jack 3rd – Left Standing 4th – Feline Flyer
TAMBO TIGER (K. Cunningham) was slow to begin.
Passing the 800m TAMBO TIGER had to be momentarily steadied when tightened for room by VINNIES JOY (T. Pannell) which was taken in by ASTATUS (K. Pope) which was inclined to lay in.
Race 5: TENTERFIELD SADDLER DOOMBEN DASH - 1110m
1st – Sequestrate 2nd – Daunting Lad 3rd – Mr Aristos 4th – Sequallan
On return to scale J. Byrne, the rider of 2nd placegetter DAUNTING LAD, lodged an objection against SEQUESTRATE ((A. Pattillo) being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 250m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the official film, stewards dismissed the protest as they were of the opinion that although both DAUNTING LAD and SEQUESTRATE were attempting the same run between SHEEZVALUE (C. Brown) and BABINDA HALF (M. Hellyer), SEQUESTRATE was further taken in by BABINDA HALF, which was taken in by SEQUALLAN (M. Price). At a subsequent inquiry apprentice M. Price was reprimanded under AR. 137(a) for allowing her mount to shift in at that point.
MR ARISTOS (W. Clasohm), which was a little slow to begin, was tightened on jumping away between ALADDINS LION (B. El-Issa) and SEQUALLAN (M. Price), both of which shifted ground.
WHAT A TALE (J. Taylor) and SEQUESTRATE (A. Pattillo) jumped away awkwardly.
Approaching the 800m ALADDINS LION improved up on to the heels of EMPIRE BURLESQUE (K. Cunningham) and had to be steadied. MR ARISTOS, which was following, had to be steadied.
WHAT A TALE raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 6: BRISBANE RIVERVIEW HOTEL CHAIRMAN’S H’CAP - 2020m
1st – Fulmonti 2nd - Diamondsondinside 3rd – Legendary Man 4th – Scattergun
PALACE LOVER (J. Byrne), which broke through the gates and galloped for a lap, was a late scratching at 3:11 p.m. by order of the stewards. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on PALACE LOVER be refunded in full, with deductions of 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of win and place tickets to apply.
OCTOBER SKY (B. El-Issa) jumped in the air at the start.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion HOW BRAVE (R. Wiggins) had to be momentarily steadied when tightened for room between DIAMONDSONDINSIDE (G. Schofield), which shifted out slightly, and THE SPORTSMAN (A. Spinks) which shifted in.
HOW BRAVE was forced to race wide in the early stages.
Approaching the 1200m DIAMONDSONDINSIDE shifted out abruptly of its own accord, hampering OCTOBER SKY.
OCTOBER SKY was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event.
REZONE (K. Pope) was held up for clear running behind HOW BRAVE from shortly after entering the straight until near the 150m.
LEGENDARY MAN (C. Brown) was held up for clear running from rounding the home turn until approaching the 100m.
Race 7: JACOB’S CREEK SPARKLING BTC CUP – 1200m
1st – Apache Cat 2nd – Vormista 3rd – Swiss Ace 4th – Swick
THE JACKAL (R. Thompson) was slow to begin.
On jumping away LA MONTAGNA (G. Colless) was tightened for room between ROMAN SQUIRE (B. Pengelly) and VORMISTA (D. Oliver) which shifted out after beginning awkwardly.
ROMAN SQUIRE raced ungenerously in the early stages .
Passing the 100m VORMISTA was momentarily buffeted for room between APACHE CAT (C. Brown), which shifted in slightly, and SWISS ACE (K. Pope), which shifted out slightly.
Shortly after entering the straight ROMAN SQUIRE and SWICK (S. Arnold) bumped.
Race 8: MITTY’S DOOMBEN CLASSIC PLATE - 1615m
1st – Pepperwood 2nd – My Joliene 3rd – Formula One Racer 4th - Tagus
YUKETAN was examined behind the barriers and passed fit to start.
AMEX GOLD (S. Galloway) reared as the gates opened and lost considerable ground.
TRIPITZ (J. Byrne) was slow to begin.
TALENT TO BURN (D. Spriggs) jumped away awkwardly.
Approaching the 1400m AMEX GOLD, which was overracing, had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room by ROYALE HARMONY (S. Baster) which was taken in slightly by FORMULA ONE RACER (B. Pengelly). AMEX GOLD continued to overrace and passing the 1200m had to be checked off the heels of ROYALE HARMONY. TRIPITZ, which was following, shifted out abruptly, hampering MUSIC LOVER (J. Taylor).
Near the 1200m the saddle on DALZAR (R. Thompson) shifted forward, placing its rider at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
Passing the 1000m YUKETAN (K. Pope) shifted out off the heels of REVERED RULER (A. Spinks). YUKETAN was then obliged to race three wide until near the 500m.
PEPPERWOOD (G. Colless) raced wide for the majority of the event.
MUSIC LOVER was inclined to lay in in the middle stages.
Near the 500m FORMULA ONE RACER was obliged to be steadied off the heels of TAGUS (D. Oliver). BELL ACADEMY (R. Wiggins), which was following, had to be steadied. TRIPITZ then improved quickly on to the heels of BELL ACADEMY and had to be checked and shifted out abruptly forcing TALENT TO BURN wider on the track.
MYNEWBESTFRIEND (S. Seamer) had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight and passing the 200m had to be eased to avoid the heels of MY LIMIT (S. Scriven) which shifted out to improve.
Shortly after straightening ROYALE HARMONY improved up on to the heels of TAGUS and had to be steadied. BELL ACADEMY, which was following, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ROYALE HARMONY.
Approaching the 200m BELL ACADEMY was momentarily impeded by ROYALE HARMONY which shifted out.
A post-race veterinary examination of ROYALE HARMONY (S. Baster) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
