Race 1: The Kim Walters Choices Program 1MW H'cap - 1640m
1st –Kentish Rose 2nd – Eddie Rapido 3rd – Use To Be A Dancer 4th - Paralegal
As apprentice O. Turpin notified stewards he had been delayed in traffic and would not arrive in time to fulfill his engagement on MERRY PIERCE, apprentice J. Wood was substituted as the rider of MERRY PIERCE and upon application and due to mitigating circumstances was given permission to claim 2 kilograms of his 3 kilogram allowance.
EDDIE RAPIDO (J. Taylor) missed the start.
KENTISH ROSE (L. Cassidy) and FOND BOND (S. Seamer) brushed on jumping away.
Approaching the 900m, SNIPARAMA shifted out from the rails and brushed FOND BOND (S. Seamer).
SNIPARAMA, which commenced to yield ground prior to the home turn, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon following the race and found to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia and had also suffered a bleeding attack. Trainer D. Newham was advised that SNIPARAMA would be barred from racing for 3 months, and prior to resuming racing, the gelding will have to gallop 1000m before stewards and she would be required to provide to the stewards the results of an ECG for the horse. SNIPARAMA would also have to barrier trial after receiving a clearance from bleeding.
When questioned as to his riding tactics on DECEPTION BAY, which led today, trainer B. Brown stated that he had instructed apprentice Hellyer to position the horse handy as he expected SNIPARAMA to lead. M. Hellyer stated that that when caught 4 wide on the first turn he noticed that runners to his inside were not pressing forward and he elected to then improve forward rather than be obliged to race wide. He added however after assuming the lead the horse was inclined to overrace initially and took some distance to settle. Trainer B. Brown indicated that DECEPTION BAY had come to the end of its preparation and would now be spelled.
Race 2: Hyundai NMW H'cap - 1020m
1st –Backstabber 2nd – Monashee Knight 3rd – Cardio 4th – Crackerjack Fortune
The start was delayed when the barrier control bit on CARTOON CHARACTER required readjustment by the barrier attendants.
MONASHEE KNIGHT (J. Byrne) blundered on jumping away and missed the start.
Leaving the 800m, CARDIO (M. Hellyer), when being restrained, got its head up and refused to settle when apprentice Hellyer attempted to position the horse with cover behind BACKSTABBER (G. Colless).
DEPARTURE (A. Spinks) raced 3 wide for the majority of the event.
Race 3: Think Pink Think Choices H'cap - 2040m
1st – Bell Academy 2nd – Chilled 3rd – Jujulio 4th – Yield Curve
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LITTLE STRANGER. M. Speers explained that the horse was somewhat flatfooted in the middle stages when BELL ACADEMY improved forward to assume the lead, and the horse did not finish the race off today as expected. Trainer M. Nolan agreed that LITTLE STRANGER seemed a little flat today and would now be sent for a spell.
Race 4: Ideal Electrical QTIS 3yo H'cap - 1110m
1st – Fab Fevola 2nd – Funtantes 3rd – Fleet ‘N’ Fast 4th – Purr Of Glory
FLEET ‘N’ FAST, which struck its head in its race day stall, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.
HANDSOME PLAYBOY (J. Bowditch) was tightened for room shortly after the start between IMA COOL DUDE (C. Beets), which shifted out away form ARCUP (C. McIver), and LADY LEO (A. Spinks), which was taken in by PURR OF GLORY (C. Reith) after that horse had been bumped by FAB FEVOLA (J. Byrne).
BEVAGNA (K. Pope) jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 600m, FUNTANTES (M. Speers) and PURR OF GLORY (C. Reith) bumped.
HANDSOME PLAYBOY (J. Bowditch) had difficulty obtaining clear running for the entire straight.
DANCINGWITHANGELS (L. Cassidy) and FUNTANTES raced 3 wide with cover for the majority of the race.
M. Speers, rider of FUNTANTES, was reprimanded for using his whip on more than one occasion in 3 consecutive strides in the final 200m. As this was apprentice Speers second offence, a reprimand was issued in keeping with the guidelines.
When questioned as to the disappointing performance of DANCINGWITHANGELS, L. Cassidy explained that despite being caught racing 3 wide throughout, the horse did not travel well today and was under under pressure on straightening.
Following the event, after A. Pattillo appeared to be ill and distressed at scale, stewards ordered he be examined by the club’s doctor, who subsequently cleared A. Pattillo to fulfil his remaining engagements.
Race 5: Celebrate Life Party In Pink NMW H'cap - 1110m
1st – Eripsni 2nd – Guissepino 3rd – One Eyed 4th - Mazuka
OVERANXIOUS (J. Byrne), which began awkwardly, had to be checked shortly after the start when tightened for room by STAR OF MINTO (M. Speers), which was taken in by PRINCE LIONHEART (C. Reith).
Passing the 800m, SNORKEL (S. Seamer) raced in restricted room and STAR OF MINTO (M. Speers) became unbalanced and had to be checked when racing tight inside of GALLAGHER (O. Turpin), IDARED (A. Pattillo) and KING HUNTER (M. Hellyer). It was established that whilst GALLAGHER had initially tightened STAR OF MINTO when it shifted in and away from IDARED, O. Turpin was unable to relieve the pressure as IDARED had shifted in away from KING HUNTER. A. Pattillo, rider of IDARED, and O. Turpin, rider of GALLAGHER, were both severely reprimanded and instructed to take greater measures to keep their mounts straight in future.
PUB TORQUE (J. Wood) raced wide throughout.
GALLAGHER was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and found to have bled from one nostril. Trainer J. Dixon was advised that the horse would be required to gallop 1000m before stewards before resuming racing. J. Dixon stated that he would recommend to connections that the horse be retired.

SIR KINGSFORD (D. Brown), VIKING STORM and TEARS’N’CHEERS (S. Seamer) were slow into stride.
TURN AND BURN (A. Erhart), which raced wide throughout, was inclined to pull hard in the middle stages.
Inside the 100m, ENCOSTA TSZYU (J. Bowditch) and TEARS’N’CHEEERS (S. Seamer) attempted to take a similar run between BAQABA (L. Cassidy) and HELLO CHRISTMAS (A. Spinks) and bumped as a result of making contact. TEARS’N’CHEERS became unbalanced and lost ground in this incident.
Race 7: Kings Jewellers H'cap - 1350m
1st – Sommersea Drive 2nd – Southerly Impact 3rd – Bitabiff 4th - Reincarnation
STRIKING VICTORY became cast in the barriers just prior to the start. A subsequent veterinary examination cleared the gelding to start.
MORNING COLOURS (L. Cassidy) was slow into stride.
Leaving the 1200m, SOUTHERLY IMPACT (O. Turpin) gots its head up and raced ungenerously and shifted in despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in STRIKING VICTORY (J. Wood) having to be checked. The racing manners of SOUTHERLY IMPACT were drawn to the attention of trainer Mr D. Baker.
Soon after straightening, MORNING COLOURS (L. Cassidy) was held up at the heels of the tiring STRIKING VICTORY.
When questioned regarding the performance of COCKTAIL SUPREME, M. Hellyer stated that the horse was somewhat hesitant on jumping away and shortly after the start he elected to endeavour to get cover rather than be caught 3 deep. He added that as a result of restraining the horse early, COCKTAIL SUPRME settled back further in the field than anticipated. He added that the horse was not entirely suited by the tempo of today’s race and when PUBLIC NUISANCE did not improve in the middle stages when the pace quickened, he was unable to improve at that point of the race.
A post-race veterinary examination of MYAGI failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 8: Choices Champions NMW H'cap - 1350m

BRINGELLY, which broke through the barriers, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.
BERNARDO (L. Cassidy) slipped behind and lost considerable ground on jumping away. L. Cassidy reported following the race he was concerned the horse may have injured itself and consequently did not place BERNARDO under significant pressure during the race and the horse took no competivive part.
HAVALYARN (G. Colless) was slow to begin.
Leaving the 800m, DESERT HAYIL (C. McIver) had to be checked when racing between BRADFIELD (D. Brown), which was initially taken out slightly by SHIFTEMAN (A. Spinks), and COSSACK COURT (B. Pengelly), which when racing ungenerously shifted in and away from SHUDULE GEE (M. Speers). Whilst SHIFTEMAN had a tendency to hang out, B. Pengelly, rider of COSSACK COURT, was nevertheless given the benefit of the doubt as to whether he could have taken greater measures to prevent his mount shifting ground.
SHIFTEMAN hung out off the rails leaving the 600m and near the 500m made heavy contact with DESERT HAYIL.
Rounding the home turn, JUSTIN CASE was held up on the heels of ROY’S LEGACY (K. Pope) and shortly after straightening, shifted out when endeavouring to improve and had to be steadied away from the heels of BEAUTIFUL DAY and the horse was unable to obtain clear running until leaving the 200m.
On straightening, DESERT HAYIL had to be checked when racing between DELL AMBY (J. Bowditch), which shifted in, and SHIFTEMAN, which hung out. BRINGELLY (C. Reith), which
was following, was also checked, losing ground. Trainer B. Brown’s attention was drawn to the horse’s racing manners and he indicated that the horse would now be spelled.
A short distance later, SHIFTEMAN was tightened for room by COSSACK COURT, which shifted out away from CITIWYSE (O. Turpin).
Approaching the 200m, ROY’S LEGACY (K. Pope) had to be steadied when tightened for room between DANE MERCHANT (M. Hellyer), which was tiring, and HAVAYARN (G. Colless), which shifted in and away from BEAUTIFUL DAY (R. Wiggins).
