Correct weight was delayed to enable stewards to view the stewards’ patrol footage to ascertain whether VEICO (B. Richardson) had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the relevant footage, it was established that VEICO stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Stewards were satisfied that VEICO had been afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings. Trainer L. Apprentice M. O’Brien reported that LIADAIN hung out for a major part of the race. Trainer G. Nightingale was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare for its racing manners.
When asked to explain the performance of LADY MARY, rider L. Cassidy stated that the filly made the first turn at the 800m awkwardly and when the pace slowed in the middle stages LADY MARY raced ungenerously at the heels of LIADAIN. L. Cassidy added that after being momentarily held up in the early part of the home straight the filly was inconvenienced near the 250m when WARLADY (P. Hammersley) shifted in slightly and following this LADY MARY did make some ground over the final 200m. L. Cassidy further added that in his opinion LADY MARY was not suited to the slow tempo of the race in the early and middle stages and would be better suited in races of a longer distance than today’s event.
JUST BETTY (T. Bell) and LADY MARY both lost their near fore plates in running.

O’GRADY was held up when unable to secure clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight, and near the 300m was disappointed for a run between BE GRAND (B. Stewart) and ZOZUQUALO and as a result had to be checked.
Near the 200m ZOZUQUALO shifted in and made heavy contact with O’GRADY, resulting in that runner becoming unbalanced.
A. Spinks reported that PEDIMENT hung out for a major part of the race and proved difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination of PEDIMENT revealed no significant abnormalities.

Wilkinson), resulting in INVINCIBLE MATE having to be checked to avoid the heels of SARAH'S SECRET. B. Stewart’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 7 March, and expire at midnight on Friday, 16 March 2012.

1st – My Bellydancer 2nd – Our Design 3rd – Zamboni 4th – Our Triple Treat

JET STAR GIRL (D. Browne) was slow to begin.
Near the 800m GONDOLA GIRL (T. Bell) had to be checked when forced across the heels of CLASSIC VUITTON (P. Hammersley) by ATTRIBUTES (J. Taylor), which hung out badly. MISS BRADBURY (J. Byrne), which was following, also had to be checked in this incident. Follwing this, MISS BRADBURY raced wide for the remainder of the event. ATTRIBUTES continued to hang out for the remainder of the event and proved difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination of ATTRIBUTES revealed the mare to be sore in the off foreleg. Trainer M. Jacobs’ stable representative was advised that the horse must perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial prior to its next start and a veterinary clearance must be provided.
Near the 50m OUR TRIPLE TREAT (R. McMahon) had to alter course to the outside of the heels of ZAMBONI (C. Munce) in order to improve.
J. Byrne was unable to ride MISS BRADBURY out in his normal manner due to SENSATIONAL LINE (L. Cheshire) shifting ground when weakening and RHAPSODIC (E. Wilkinson) shifting in slightly under pressure.
R. McMahon was issued with a reprimand for using the whip in a forehand manner on OUR TRIPLE TREAT in excess of 5 times prior to the 100m.
Apprentice T. Lovelock-Wiggins, the rider of 6th placegetter SHEZAMYTH, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 137(b) of failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race and was fined $300. In assessing penalty, stewards were not comfortably satisfied that apprentice Lovelock-Wiggins’ failure to ride his mount out had materially affected the horse’s placing in the race.
Race 7: CHANNEL SEVEN C,G&E CLASS 3 H’CAP - 1200m
1st – Altai Warrior 2nd – Fractions 3rd – Castle Express 4th – Master Fibba
D. Missen pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 118A in that he added a breastplate to the gear of WE MADE A BLU after weighing out and was fined $300.

Rounding the home turn and in the home straight until after passing the 200m TRISKELE (J. Byrne) was held up and unable to secure clear running.
Approaching the 200m ALTAI WARRIOR, which had been held up for clear running, shifted to the inside of the heels of the tiring ZIPPITY JET (G. Killen), resulting in WE MADE A BLU (D. Missen) having to be steadied to avoid the heels of ALTAI WARRIOR. Stewards advised R. Wiggins (ALTAI WARRIOR) to exercise more care when shifting ground but acknowledged that ZIPPITY JET’s compounding did contribute to this incident.
STEPHEN GOT EVEN had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight and as a result went to the line not fully tested by its rider.
Stewards afforded D. Browne the opportunity to comment on the performance of BRIBIE. Jockey Browne stated that in his opinion the gelding did not race comfortably between runners and did not travel comfortably at various stages of the race. He added that he had recommended to connections that blinkers be added to the horse’s gear. Trainer R. Heathcote confirmed his disappointment in the performance and advised stewards that he agreed with jockey Browne’s assessment that the horse would benefit from the addition of blinkers.
G. Killen reported that it was not his intention to lead today on ZIPPITY JET, but after being caught wide in the early stages and when the tempo of the race was slow, he allowed his mount to stride forward to the lead.
A post-race veterinary examination of ZIPPITY JET, which compounded in the home straight, revealed the gelding to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer C. Williamson was advised that he must produce a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, and ZIPPITY JET must perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial prior to racing again.

MARKOUT (G. Geran) raced wide throughout.
When the pace steadied passing the 1000m LEICA BITA LIPPY (C. Whiteley) commenced to race fiercely and had to be checked to avoid the heels of FLINDERS COMMAND (B. Richardson). As a result of being checked, LEICA BITA LIPPY shifted out slightly and ARCTIC improved to that runner’s inside where there was insufficient room and as a result had to be steadied and shifted in slightly resulting in ZED MAN also being tightened for room and having to be eased.
VIKING HEART (C. Munce) overraced in the middle stages.
Approaching the 600m SUPERB EFFORT (D. Griffin) shifted out around the heels of DEFENCEMAN (D. Browne) and made heavy contact with FLINDERS COMMAND.
From leaving the 600m until entering the home straight LEICA BITA LIPPY hung out which resulted in MARKOUT being taken wider on the track.
LEICA BITA LIPPY hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight and as a result approaching the 200m ZED MAN and COLLECTOR (K. Wharton) had to be steadied when tightened for room. Following this incident ZED MAN was held up for a short distance before shifting to the inside of FLINDERS COMMAND inside the 100m in order to improve.
