SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Trainer L. Ross was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR. 175(s) for presenting a horse to the Doomben jump-outs on Tuesday, 10 July, with reins which in the opinion of the stewards were unsuitable.
GENERAL
Jockeys R. McMahon and R. Wiggins each pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 160B(3) of having in their possession a mobile phone in the jockeys’ room and each was fined $200. R. McMahon also pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 87D of having in his possession a safety vest that had been modified and was fined $600.

BINGO ROSE (M. Hellyer) raced three wide throughout.
Apprentice A. Allen (MR ORIENT) dropped his whip at the 250m.
Race 2: WOOLWORTHS OPEN H’CAP - 1010m
1st – Double Image 2nd – Jopa 3rd – All That 4th – Shekinaar
Passing the 600m DOUBLE IMAGE (A. Allen) improved on to the heels of ALL THAT (P. Schmidt) and had to be steadied.
SHEKINAAR (J. Byrne) laid in under pressure in the straight.
A post-race veterinary examination of GRAN TORINO (P. Hammersley) revealed no abnormalities.
Race 3: BYOJET.COM QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1110m
1st – Modern Warfare 2nd – Jacaranda Avenue 3rd – Phantom Caller 4th – Rocky King
ACCIDENTAL (E. Wilkinson) was slow to begin.
LA FRISSON BELLE (J. Byrne) jumped in at the start and bumped BELVEDERE BLAST (R. McMahon).
MODERN WARFARE (A. Allen) was restrained in the early stages to take a position closer to the running rail.
YASMINA (A. Mundy) raced greenly in the early stages.
OPTIONALITY (P. Schmidt) and ACCIDENTAL raced wide throughout.
Near the 400m MODERN WARFARE momentarily became awkwardly placed at the heels of ACCIDENTAL.
Near the 300m ACCIDENTAL became awkwardly placed on the heels of the tiring SCHWEIZ (N. Tomizawa) and was obliged to alter course to the inside of that runner to obtain clear running.
Apprentice K. Matheson, the rider of JACARANDA AVENUE, was issued with a severe reprimand for permitting his mount to shift out inside the 300m and make heavy contact with OPTIONALITY on several occasions. When OPTIONALITY was moved from its racing line near the 250m, SCHWEIZ, which was racing back and to the outside of OPTIONALITY, was inconvenienced as a consequence.
R. McMahon (BELVEDERE BLAST) lost the use of his nearside rein near the 200m.
JACARANDA AVENUE (K. Matheson) shifted its ground under pressure over the concluding stages.
LA FRISON BELLE (J. Byrne) was showing signs of slow post-race recovery following the event.
Rider A. Mundy was of the view that YASMINA did not handle the prevailing track conditions today. A post-race veterinary examination of YASMINA revealed the filly to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer T. Whittington was advised that he must produce a veterinary clearance for YASMINA prior to its next start.
Race 4: AUSTRALIAN COMPANY INCORPORATION SERVICE 0MW H’CAP - 1600m
1st – Cash ‘N’ Style 2nd – Marculoo 3rd – Easy Lager 4th – Majestic Sound
MY QUILTER (D. Browne) overraced in the early stages.
CASH ‘N’ STYLE (M. Vance) wanted to lay in under pressure in the early part of the straight.
Race 5: SQS HAULAGE BENCHMARK 85 H’CAP - 2100m
1st – Racing Heart 2nd – Kevejon 3rd – Bloodhound 4th – Ausworld
As R. McMahon was to be overweight, apprentice T. Bell was substituted as the rider of LOVES A CHALLENGE. R. McMahon was fined $200.
Trainer P. Duff informed stewards that his rider M. Vance reported to him that AUSWORLD was not entirely comfortable on the heavy surface today. AUSWORLD lost its off hind plate in running.
P. Hammersley reported that the tongue tie on KEVEJON broke during the course of the race.
Race 6: HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM NEIBLING OPEN H’CAP - 1350m
1st – Lucky Luna 2nd – Purettan 3rd – Brigadoon Jack 4th – Vipera Gold
EUREKA (R. Wiggins), MEET GEORGE (R. Myers) and SOMMERSEA DRIVE (G. Cooksley) were slow to begin.
LUCKY LUNA (A. Allen) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Near the 800m BRIGADOON JACK (K. Matheson) improved to the inside of PURETTAN (B. Spriggs) where there was insufficient room and had to be steadied. PATTIES MATE (T. Bell), which was trailing, also had to be steadied as a consequence.
Trainer B. Smith was advised that MEET GEORGE, which bled from both nostrils, would be ineligible to start for 3 months and must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to resuming racing.
BRIGADOON JACK lost both front plates during running.
Race 7: OPERATION SMILE AUSTRALIA 0MW H’CAP - 1110m
1st – Shafeeq 2nd – Requested 3rd – Greyzeel 4th – Cryon
TRICKIN (A. Allen), PRODUCT (G. Cooksley) and GREYZEEL (E. Wilkinson) were all taken inwards at the start by TENNESSEE BLUE (M. Hellyer), which shifted in, resulting in GREYZEEL making contact with HUSSMINDA (J. Brown), which lost ground as a result.
FLINDERS CITY (P. Schmidt) raced wide throughout.
Leaving the 800m REQUESTED (P. Hammersley) had to be momentarily steadied when tightened for room between SHAFEEQ (R. Myers) and FLINDERS CITY, which shifted in.
Apprentice J. Brown reported that despite her urgings in the early and middle stages HUSSMINDA lost contact with the main body of the field, however finished the race off very well over the concluding stages.
A post-race veterinary examination of GREYZEEL revealed that the gelding had sustained a laceration to the outside of the near fore pastern.
Race 8: TIMEFORM QTIS 3YO H’CAP - 1110m
1st – Bradbury Chocolate 2nd – In A Storm 3rd – Top Of The Rock 4th – Golden Trinkets
D. Browne, the rider of MILITARY GRACE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 800m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of GOLDEN TRINKETS (K. Matheson), resulting in that horse being taken in on to the rightful running of SOCARADA (P. Schmidt), resulting in SOCARADA having to be checked by its rider to avoid the heels of GOLDEN TRINKETS. In the incident SOCARADA overacted and lost considerable ground. D. Browne’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 meetings, with the term to commence at midnight on Sunday, 22 July, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 5 August 2012.
SOCARADA shifted out rounding the home turn to obtain clear running, taking BRADBURY CHOCOLATE (A. Allen) wider on the track.
A post-race veterinary examination of MR FAVULOUS (R. Myers), which compounded over the concluding stages, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
