SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

From Doomben, 2.2.13 – Race 9

Trainer Mr D .Lawlor was at a loss to explain why Noogoora Burr failed to respond to jockey J. Byrne’s riding in the early stages of the straight, however indicated he would experiment with the gear of Nooroora Burr in an effort to have it race more genuinely in the early stages of its race. Overall, Mr Lawlor was not entirely disappointed with the performance of the horse and felt that had Nooroora Burr been able to obtain clear running in the early stages of the home straight, it would have finished closer in the placings.

Race 1: The Good Guys Maiden Plate – 2220m
1st – Unspoken 2nd – Craiglea Calipso 3rd – No Guessing 4th – King Of Florence

STUCK WITH A FINE (S. Bogenhuber) raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 2: Bollinger CG&E Maiden Plate – 1350m
1st – Betican 2nd – These Streets 3rd – Bewhatyouwannabe 4th – Night Chills

The start of the race was delayed when TIGER JET (T. Harrison) had to be resaddled behind the barriers.

BELVEDERE BLAST (M. Cahill) was slow to begin.

MANTRAS (J. Byrne) shifted out near the 400m and bumped NIGHT CHILLS (L. Cassidy), and did it again near the 300m.

THESE STREETS (D. Browne) was held up rounding the home turn.

THESE STREETS shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages and bumped BEWHATYOUWANNABE (J. Lloyd).

D. Browne reported that THESE STREETS had a tendency to race greenly during the race.

T. Harrison, rider of TIGER JET, was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts right out to the finish of the race.

Race 3: Drumbeats @ Lyndhurst F&M Maiden Plate – 1350m
1st – Titian Tigress 2nd – Fiesty Belle 3rd – Pinespun 4th – Yasmina

TITIAN TIGRESS (D. Browne), FIESTY BELLE (J. Byrne) and YASMINA (P. Hammersley) were slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, FIESTY BELLE and YASMINA (P. Hammersley) were hampered between TEARS (T. Harrison) and CLOSED IN (T. Bell), both of which shifted ground.

M. Vance, rider of MAKE HAAY, pleaded guilty to a charge careless riding, in that near the 800m she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently of FIESTY BELLE, resulting in FIESTY BELLE being taken in on to TEARS, and as a result of that shift in TEARS was tightened for room and had to be checked. M .Vance was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 9 February and to expire at midnight, 22 February. As a result of this incident, HILLARY’S CLANG (S. Bogenhuber) and YASMINA (P. Hammersley), which were following, were inconvenienced as a consequence.

PINESPUN (M. Cahill) was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

CLOSED IN and YASMINA raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 4: Mount Franklin Sparkling Class 5 H'cap - 1020m
1st – Pure Purrfection 2nd – Product 3rd – Florida Fellow 4th – Hollyweird

As L. Cassidy was to be overweight, T. Bell was substituted as the rider of PRODUCT. L. Cassidy was subsequently fined $100 for being overweight.

Correct weight was delayed to allow T. Bell, rider of the 2nd placegetter, PRODUCT, to view the footage of the race in the straight to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge a protest against PURE PURRFECTION being declared the winner. Subsequently, T. Bell declined to proceed.

ACCELERO (J. Stanley) began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping FLORIDA FELLOW (T. Harrison).

MASTER FIBBA (J. Taylor) began awkwardly.

EPIC (M. Cahill), which was slow to begin, was then hampered by DEVILS MELODY (D. Browne), which shifted out.

Near the 700m, EPIC improved on to the heels of DEVILS MELODY and shifted out.

Passing the 700m, ACCELERO shifted in and away from FLORIDA FELLOW, resulting in HOLLYWEIRD (P. Schmidt) having to be eased.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on HOLLYWEIRD, which shifted wider on the track rounding the home turn, thereby allowing PURE PURRFECTION (M. Vance) to improve to its inside, apprentice Schmidt stated she had been specifically instructed to shift HOLLYWEIRD to the middle of the track in the home straight as the trainer was of the view the going was better off the fence. Trainer T. Gollan confirmed the instructions and stated he had provided similar instructions to apprentice M. Vance, rider of PURR PERFECTION, as he had formed the view after the first 3 races today that horses were finishing off better when placed in the middle of the track rather than on the fence. He was also of the view that as PURR PERFECTION was positioned midfield on the fence during running it was unable to shift wider on the track rounding the home turn, as per his instructions, resulting in the mare improving to the inside of HOLLYWEIRD in the home straight. Stewards could not be satisfied that neither apprentice Schmidt or Mr Gollan were in breach of any Australian Rules of Racing and noted their explanations.

Race 5: Sky Racing World QTIS 3yo C&G Maiden H'cap – 1110m
1st – Punters Pride 2nd – Sole Illusion 3rd – Greedy 4th - Crashing

ABOVE US (M. Cahill) and CRASHING (P. Hammersley) began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, PALPITATE (L. Morrison) was hampered between CRASHING (P. Hammersley) and GIANT CRUSHER (T. Bell), which shifted in.

WRITTEN ABOVE ALL (D. Browne) began awkwardly and shortly after blundered, resulting in the gelding losing ground.

Near the 1000m, WHO DA KID (B. Swaffer) was inconvenienced by WRITTEN ABOVE ALL, which shifted in.

Leaving the 1000m, PUNTERS PRIDE (T. Harrison) had to be steadied when SANDBAR JACK (J. Stanley) shifted in.

Near the 800m, PUNTERS PRIDE and CRASHING (P. Hammersley) were forced to race in restricted room to the inside of TREES A CROWD (J. Lloyd)

Passing the 800m, when being restrained from the heels of INSOLENT (A. Best), TREES A CROWD shifted in, resulting in PALPITATE having to be steadied and losing ground when tightened for room.

Leaving the 800m, SANDBAR JACK (J. Stanley) became awkward for a number of strides when racing to the inside of GIANT CRUSHER and overraced for some distance thereafter.

PUNTERS PRIDE raced wide rounding the home turn.

CRASHING was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

Near the 300m, PALPITATE was disappointed for a run between INSOLENT and PUREST HAVEN (L. Cassidy) and was obliged to shift out across the heels of PUREST HAVEN to improve.

Passing the 50m, ABOVE US (M. Cahill) shifted in and away from PALPITATE and bumped PUREST HAVEN.

BRIGADOON LEGEND (Michael Palmer), ABOVE US, PUREST HAVEN and INSOLENT raced wide for the majority of the race.

P. Hammersley reported that CRASHING had a tendency to hang out throughout the race.

D. Browne reported that WRITTEN ABOVE may have got its tongue over the bit, which had an effect on the gelding’s ability to finish the race off as expected. A post race veterinary examination of WRITTEN ABOVE failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer R. Heathcote advised that a tongue-tie would be added to the racing gear of WRITTEN ABOVE at its next race start.

Trainer P. Duff reported that following the disappointing performance of WHO DA KID, the gelding would now be stepped up over further distance and would be restricted to provincial race meetings.

Race 6: Sirromet Wines CG&E Class 3 H'cap – 1350m
1st – Supreme Sledge 2nd – Run With Me 3rd – Vacallo 4th - Rouvray

RUN WITH ME (D. Browne) and FORZA POTENZA (B. Swaffer) were slow to begin.

Leaving the 1100m, EVERYTHING’S SET (J. Byrne) shifted in and bumped ROUVRAY (E. Wilkinson).

Near the 1000m, FORZA POTENZA had to be eased when racing in restricted room between RUN WITH ME and VALIANT HEART (S. Drake), which shifted in, and again near the 900m had to be eased when tightened for room by VALIANT HEART, which shifted in. S. Drake, rider of VALIANT HEART, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

RUN WITH ME laid in under pressure in the home straight.

SUPREME SLEDGE (T. Harrison) raced wide throughout.
Race 7: Carlton Mid F&M Class 3 H'cap – 1350m
1st – Peron 2nd – Flying Lamborgini 3rd – Itchintowin 4th - Caressable

DYNOMITELLA (J. Byrne) shifted in and bumped GRABTHEMONEY’N’RUN (G. Cooksley) at the start.

GOTTA BE LUCKY (T. Harrison), STOP CRYING (R. McMahon) and MONTREUX JAZZ (L. Cassidy) were slow to begin.

DYNOMITELLA overraced in the early stages, resulting in ATHANEA (P. Hammersley), which was following, being inconvenienced on a number of occasions. ATHANEA was then forced to race wide from that point onwards.

Near the 800m, MONTREUX JAZZ improved onto the heels of DYNOMITELLA (J. Byrne) and shifted out and raced wide from that point onwards.

Passing the 300m, CARESSABLE ONE (B. Stewart) shifted out and inconvenienced DYNOMITELLA.

GOTTA BE LUCKY was held up on the heels of PURE REALITY for a short distance approaching the 200m.

When questioned regarding the performance of PURE REALITY, which weakened from leaving the 600m, J. Lloyd stated that PURE REALITY was making an abnormal respiratory noise which, in his view had an effect on its performance today. A post race veterinary examination of PURE REALITY failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Stewards will interview trainer G. Heinrich at a later date regarding this matter.

DYNOMITELLA was found to have bled from one nostril during the race. Trainer M. Dunn was advised that DYNOMITELLA must gallop over 1000m to the stewards’ satisfaction prior to its next race start.

Race 8: Glen Logan Park QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1020m
1st – Kuchinskaya 2nd – General Jackson 3rd – Tear It up 4th - Lita

THE RIGHT ONE (J. Byrne) reared as the start was effected and lost ground.

Shortly after the start, TEAR IT UP (R. McMahon) had to be eased when tightened for room between KUCHINSKAYA (J. Lloyd) and BUDDY ROCKS (J. Taylor), which shifted in.

J. Taylor, rider of BUDDY ROCKS, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137(a), in that approaching the 800m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of TOM’S LUCK (A. Taylor), thereby not allowing sufficient racing room to the inside for TOM’S LUCK. As a result both WOLFSBURG (T. Bell) and CALDETES (T. Harrison) were forced to race in restricted room to the inside of TOM’S LUCK, causing WOLFSBURG to be severely checked and lose ground. J. Taylor was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account J. Taylors good race riding record, however were mindful of the severity off the interference suffered by WOLFSBURG.

J. Taylor, rider of BUDDY ROCKS, was found guilty of a charge under AR137(a), in that leaving the 800m he continued to allow his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of TOM’S LUCK, which as a consequence was taken in on to CALDETES (T. Harrison), resulting in CALDETES having to be severely checked at that stage and shift out, resulting in WOLFSBURG (T. Bell) again having to be severely checked by its rider. J. Taylor was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 9 February and to expire at midnight, 22 February. Stewards ordered that both meetings be serviced concurrently, to commence at midnight, 9 February and to expire at midnight, 22 February.

When questioned, apprentice T. Harrison stated that after suffering interference leaving the 800m, CALDETES failed to race tractably and as a result failed to finish the race off as expected. Apprentice Harrison noted that CALDETES had been galloped on when suffering interference near the 800m. A post race veterinary examination of CALDETES revealed the horse had been galloped on on the near-side cannon and near fore fetlock.

A post race veterinary examination of WOLFSBURG failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 9: Ambassador Travel Class 3 H'cap – 1640m
1st – Vigtal Organ 2nd – Yurrapendi 3rd - Kid Tycoon 4th - Candente

RETRACTED (A. Taylor) was slow to begin.

VITAL ORGAN (L. Cassidy) began awkwardly.

Near the 1400m, CANDENTE (T. Harrison) had to be restrained when awkwardly placed at the heels of MONJAYA BOY (P. Hammersley).

VEETEN (M. Cahill) and YURRAPENDI (J. Lloyd) bumped on 2 occasions approaching the 1200m.

OSCARMANIA (E. Wilkinson), YURRAPNDI and VITAL ORGAN raced wide for the majority of the race.

D. Missen, rider of O’GRADY, reported that leaving the 700m he was held up on the heels of LIGHTENING VAULT (B. Stewart) and unable to improve due to VEETEN being positioned to his outside. He added that when able to obtain clear running in the early stages of the home straight, O’GRADY only finished the race off fairly. A post race veterinary examination of O’GRADY failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

J. Lloyd reported that YURRAPENDI, after being fractious in the barriers, overraced in the early and middle stages of the event when racing wide. He was of the opinion that YURRAPENDI is better suited when able to be ridden with cover.
