Race 1: Coca-Cola Amatil QTIS 2YO H’Cap - 1200m

After being boxed SAMBUCA SHOT (App T. Harrison) broke through the front of the gates and was quickly restrained, returned to the start, examined and declared suitable to race.

On jumping SOVEREIGN SON (T. Bell) was bumped by LEGAL COUNSEL (Matthew Palmer), which shifted in.

COMBATANT (Michael Palmer) was inconvenienced at the start between OUT LATE (B. Stewart) and MISTER BOOZE (M. Cahill), which shifted out.

Shortly after straightening DESPINA (J. Byrne) was steadied when disappointed for a run between LEGAL COUNSEL and SOVEREIGN SON, which shifted in slightly.

After the 200m SAMBUCA SHOT was bumped on a couple of occasions by LEGAL COUNSEL.

A post race veterinary examination of MISTER BOOZE revealed the colt to have sustained abrasions over both eyes and was subsequently found to be shin sore. Trainer K. Clark-Peoples advised MISTER BOOZE will now be spelled.

A post race veterinary examination of SAMBUCA SHOT revealed the gelding to have sustained a small puncture wound to the off fore cannon.

CANNIZZARO (App L. Tarrant) lost its off fore plate during running.


Race 2: Kirks Open H’Cap - 2030m

COLLAR (T. Bell) when racing without cover outside the lead pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the event.

Inside the final 100m POSTE RESTANTE (App S. Payne) raced in restricted room and consequently could not be fully tested.

A post race veterinary examination of HIGH KIN (E. Wilkinson) revealed the mare to be sore over the hind quarters. Trainer S. MacKinnon was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to HIGH KIN again racing.

A post race veterinary examination of HEARTFELT QUEST (M. Cahill) revealed the gelding to have sustained a small laceration to the medial near fore cannon.

A post race veterinary examination of SECRET GARDEN (B. El-Issa) revealed the mare was stepping short in front following the event.


Race 3: Mount Franklin Sparkling Fillies & Mares Benchmark 85 H’Cap - 1350m

TICKET TO DREAM (G. Colless) stood flatfooted and missed the start.

Shortly after straightening MATABRAHMA (App R. Jamieson) raced in restricted room between ELLIE LA VIE (App T. Wolfgram) and TICKET TO DREAM, which improved outside the heels of ANTARCTIC DREAM (J. Byrne). A short distance later MATABRAHMA was checked and shifted across the heels of ELLIE LA VIE when TICKET TO DREAM shifted out further.

For a major part of the home straight MISS BRADBURY (C. Munce) was badly held up and unable to be fully tested at any stage of the event.

ELUSIVE STORM (App S. Payne) raced 3 wide without cover throughout the event.

M. Cahill stated that TAMBO’S JEWEL travelled well and whilst it raced in restricted room in the early stages of the straight the mare did not finish the race off as he would expected. A post race veterinary examination of TAMBO’S JEWEL revealed no abnormalities.

App T. Harrison reported at scale that it was not her intention to lead on DANYME.
Race 4: Canadian Club Class 6 H’Cap - 1200m

NOOGOORA BURR (A. Spinks) was slow into stride.

In the middle stages COVERT CHARMOUR (C. Munce), which was inclined to race keenly, had to be restrained off the heels of CLEAVER (L. Cassidy).


Race 5: Jim Beam Open H'Cap - 1110m

ALTAI WARRIOR (G. Colless) and PURE PURRFECTION (T. Bell) were both slow to begin.

FLORIDA FELLOW (App J.K. Johnson) raced 3 wide without cover throughout the event.


Race 6: Powerade Class 6 H'Cap – 1630m

EMPRESS ME (App P. Schmidt), which was standing awkwardly in its gate, was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1300m TRAGEDY (G. Cooksley), which was overracing, was restrained off the heels of KURTLEY (App T. Wolfgram). REVITALISE (App A. Butler) which was also racing keenly and following TRAGEDY was checked in consequence.

Near the 150m App T. Wolfgram (KURTLEY) was obliged to stop riding when briefly tightened for room by HEART OF MANY (C. Munce), which shifted in.

CABALLO RAPIDO (B. El-Issa) was held up for clear running after passing the 200m and close to the finishing line had to alter course to the inside of GRAYSON SQUARE (M. Cahill) to obtain clear running.

DYSFUNCTION (T. Bell) raced wide without cover throughout the event.

C. Munce reported that HEART OF MANY when racing without cover raced keenly and as a result he allowed the gelding to slide forward and lead leaving the 800m.

G. Cooksley reported that TRAGEDY was inclined to lay in in the straight.


Race 7: Goulburn Valley 3YO Plate - 1350m

VINTAGE COGNAC was declared a late scratching at 11.25 a.m. by order of stewards after the stable advised that they were made aware this morning by a staff member that VINTAGE COGNAC had inadvertently been treated with a substance whilst receiving dental work yesterday morning. The explanation tendered by co-trainer Mr D Meagher for this error was accepted by stewards.

Trainer K. Schweida advised OOSTHUIZEN would be ridden back in the field today from the wide barrier. The horse was ridden accordingly.

ARCHITECT (A. Spinks) was slow into stride.

Passing the 900m STRAIGHT SHOOTER (App J.K. Johnson) was checked when crowded for room inside MARSCAY FORCE (Matthew Palmer), which after initially being taken in slightly by LUCKY BLACK (C. Munce), then hung in away from that horse. As a result of this crowding STRAIGHT SHOOTER struck the rail and when being checked lost ground, resulting in VOODOO BLUE MAGIC (J. Byrne), which was following also being restrained.

After the 800m STRAIGHT SHOOTER commenced to overrace carrying FRIENDLY DRAGON (B. Stewart) wider on the track.

In the straight ARCHITECT hung in very badly and whilst being shifted wider, its rider dropped his offside rein from the 200m.

For the entire length of the straight BODEGA NEGRA (K. Wharton) was unable to obtain clear running when held up behind MARSCAY FORCE and inside of PADRINO (App A. Allen).


Race 8: Mount Franklin Colts, Geldings & Entires Benchmark 85 H’Cap – 1350m

FIVE O’CLOCK (B. El-Issa), WRITTEN ABOVE ALL (T. Bell) and FANTASTIC BLUE (App M. McGuren) were all slow to begin.

FIVE O’CLOCK raced very keenly in the early stages on the heels of CRACCO (App A. Allen).

From the entrance to the straight CUM DIVIDEND (App T. Wolfgram) was held up until near the 200m when it was shifted to the inside of PLAYACTION (J. Taylor).

CARMORA (M. Cahill) raced 3 wide without cover.
