Race 1: The Courier Mail QTIS 3YO H’Cap - 1350m

HIGH DEGREE – Difficult to load. Reared as start effected and lost significant ground (3l). Trainer R. Smith advised the filly would have to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.

LIFE AT SEA – Slow to begin.

DANSOLEI – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay out rounding home turn.

SAMBUCA SHOT – Inclined to lay out in the middle stages. Post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

SOLDI DOMANI – Shifted out abruptly rounding home turn.

COURT LANE – Hampered rounding home turn.

Race 2: The Jetty Spring On The Green OMW H'Cap - 2100m

STRATEGIC SHADOW – Jumped away awkwardly. Rider L. Tarrant was fined $200.00 for failing to ride his mount out to the finish of the race.

NOVIKOV – Jumped away awkwardly. Rider L. Cassidy reported mount did not appreciate track conditions today and did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure. Trainer T. Crane agreed with the statement from the rider that the gelding did not appreciate the track conditions today. Post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

HEATER – Raced in restricted room in the early stages of the straight.


Race 3: Corona Beach Party Fillies & Mares Class 6 H’Cap - 1200m

PRETTY FACE – Held up for clear running from the entrance to the straight until the 200m. Post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

BEACH BABE – Held up for clear running from the 400m until near the 100m.

App M. McGuren was stood down by the Club’s doctor for the remainder of his events following his ride in this race and was subsequently replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Dead 4.


Race 4: Sono Restaurant Open H'Cap - 1350m

The start of this race was delayed due to mechanical difficulties with the ambulance vehicle.

JETSET LAD – Steadied leaving 1200m.

TURNITUP – Tightened for room leaving 1200m.

App B. Grylls the rider of SALUTER pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that after leaving the 1200m she allowed her mount to shift in when not clear of JETSET LAD, resulting in JETSET LAD having to be steadied to avoid the heels of SALUTER and tightened the running of TURNITUP. App Grylls’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of six (6) meetings to commence midnight 3 September 2014 and expire midnight 14 September 2014. In assessing penalty stewards took into account App Grylls’ guilty plea and good riding record.

HIDDEN WARRIOR – Overraced for a short distance after leaving 1100m.


Race 5: Qld Reef & Beef NMW H’Cap - 1350m

The start amended to 2.48 p.m.

POMPIDOU – Slow to begin.

ITCHINTOWIN – Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner.

FRENCH COMMAND – Hampered shortly after start by another runner.

DAISYODEE - Hampered shortly after start by another runner.

TINTS – Steadied away from heels approaching 800m.

OLD FEELING – Raced wide without cover throughout event.


Race 6: Martin Hellyer Retirement NMW H’Cap - 1615m

The start amended to 3.20 p.m.

SISTER EMMA – Jumped away awkwardly.

VAZ DE TORRES – Checked when tightened for room near the 1400m. Approaching and rounding the home turn had to be steadied away from the heels of another runner, which shifted out.

QUICK WITTED – Steadied away from heels of another runner near the 1400m. Post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be slightly short in its action in the off fore leg. App T. Wolfgram reported following the event that in his opinion QUICK WITTED would be better ridden on the speed as today the mare overraced when ridden with cover.

App T. Wolfgram the rider of QUICK WITTED was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out rounding the home turn when not fully clear.

RED HOT DAZZLER – Rider R. McMahon reported the gelding failed to finish the race off as expected.

HUSH POWER – Raced wide without cover throughout event.


Race 7: The Courier Mail Qld Taste Open H'Cap - 1615m

Correct weight was delayed to allow the App S. Payne the rider of BILLY AUCASH which finished second to view the official patrol film to see whether he had grounds against the winner EPIC approaching the 1400m . After viewing the patrol footage App Payne advised he did not wish to proceed.

BILLY AUCASH – Near the 1400m had to be steadied away from heels of another runner.

KINGDOMS – Inclined to shift ground under pressure in the straight.

WAR ENDS – Raced wide without cover throughout event.

EXTREME MOVER – Lost an off fore plate in running.
Race 8: Sky International Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 6 H'Cap - 1200m

THIS IS WAR – Jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with another runner. Raced wide throughout event.

BARON DOURO – Hung in under pressure in the straight.

PLATINUM STATE – Veterinary examination revealed mild/moderate heat stress and a poor post race recovery.

LORD LONHRO – Veterinary examination revealed slow post race recovery.

DEL PALIO – Veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained an injury to the near side eye.
