WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - TRUE POSITION
RACE 1: XXXX BITTER SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1200M.
A veterinary examination of BRAVE TAPPER, which performed disappointingly, revealed that filly to be slightly shin sore in both forelegs.
RACE 2: MITRE 10 H'CAP - 1300M.
The start was delayed when IRON JUG proved difficult to load. Connections were advised that IRON JUG must pass a further barrier test prior to its next race start.
IRON JUG jumped away awkwardly and soon afterwards made contact with RED NITRO.
Passing the 1000m., IRON JUG was inclined to lay in, resulting in HAGAR THE HORRIBLE being cramped on to ALFRED THE GREAT, which had to be steadied.
Leaving the 400m., ALFRED THE GREAT was inconvenienced by SOLAR RANCH, which shifted out to obtain clear running.
A swab sample was taken from HAGAR THE HORRIBLE.
RACE 3: FRANKLINS SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1300M.
PLAY STATION and BOSTON came together at the start.
A veterinary examination of KAREN'S WAY following the event revealed the filly to be suffering from heart arrhythmia. Trainer R. Maund was advised he would be required to produce an veterinary certificate of fitness, including the results of an ECG for KAREN'S WAY. He was further advised that KAREN'S WAY must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier prior to its next race start. A swab sample was taken from KAREN'S WAY.
RACE 4: MATTRESS DISCOUNTERS H'CAP - 1200M.
SPY KING shifted out at the start, inconveniencing WESTERN TOLL.
M. Paget, rider of PRINCE PATRICK, was cautioned for allowing his mount to shift in on the first turn, resulting in SPY KING and MIGHT AND GOLD being cramped.
RACE 5: STAFFORD TAVERN H'CAP - 1800M.
SPY MISSION jumped awkwardly.
A swab sample was taken from SPY MSSION.
RACE 6: FM104 TRIPLE M YOUNG MEMBERS' CUP - 1200M.
LUCKY RAID, which had blood in its mouth as a result of a dislodged tooth cap, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
PLENTY OF ZIP shifted out under pressure over the final 200m..
When questioned, S. Shield stated that MR. NEWMARKET was never travelling well and was a beaten horse at the 600m.. He added that MR. NEWMARKET'S performance indicated that the gelding may be in need of a break from racing. A veterinary examination of MR. NEWMARKET failed to reveal any abnormality, and a swab sample was taken from the gelding. Trainer D. Mullins indicated it was his intention to spell MR. NEWMARKET immediately.
RACE 7: CHANDLERS H'CAP - 1400M.
SCENIC FLIGHT shifted out soon after the start, inconveniencing ELIPEER.
RACE 8: OPTUS WORLD H'CAP - 1600M.
On the home turn, ROCKLEA KING had to be steadied to avoid the heels of JACK'S ARRIVAL, which shifted out to obtain clear running. R. Goltz, rider of JACK'S ARRIVAL, was reprimanded in relation to this incident. K. Pope, the rider of ROCKLEA KING was spoken to concerning the accuracy of the evidence he tendered at the inquiry.
ALL WINNERS, KAREN'S WAY, HAGAR THE HORRIBLE, SPY MISSION AND MR NEWMARKET WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
