Race 7 NED’S REVENGE M Paget (L Roberts when Paget indisposed)

RACE 1: SECURITY MAILING SERVICES H'CAP - 1300M

SERINSK, which became fractious in the barriers, was a late withdrawal at 12.23 p.m. on the advice of the Club's veterinary surgeon who reported that the mare sustained soreness and bruising over the loins. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on SERINSK be refunded with deductions of 14 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets and 13 cents in the dollar on the face value of place tickets. Trainer B Brown was advised that SERINSK must pass a further barrier test prior to its next race start.

The start was also delayed due to ZAPATEADO proving difficult to load. Trainer D Waller, substituting for trainer C Smith, was advised that ZAPATEADO must also pass a further barrier test prior to its next race start.

JEWEL OF THE NIGHT jumped away very awkwardly, striking the side of the barriers and becoming unbalanced.

After assuming the lead at the 700m S Seamer, the rider of the leader LEGENDARY GIRL, steadied the pace, which obliged IN OUR TIME to be checked off the heels of that mare.

After being held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight, ZAPATEADO was obliged to alter course to the outside of IN OUR TIME near the 300m when KYAMBA STAR shifted out to its inside.

RACE 2: QUEENSLAND APPRENTICESHIP SERVICES H'CAP - 1300M

After being fractious in the barriers, NOBLE UNIVERSE reared as the start was effected, dislodging its rider B Stewart. Trainer I Gleeson was advised that NOBLE UNIVERSE must pass a further barrier test prior to its next race start.

At the 300m WHITSUNDAY VIEW was disappointed for a run between CHARAME and FAIR PAY which shifted out slightly. WHITSUNDAY VIEW was eventually obliged to alter course back to the inside of FAIR PAY near the 100m to obtain clear running.

RACE 3: BAVE H'CAP - 1600M

From soon after leaving the barrier until the 1100m FRISKY STAR repeatedly got its head up and raced ungenerously.

A veterinary examination of WHAT DREAMS, which raced disappointingly, failed to reveal any abnormality. A swab sample was taken from WHAT DREAMS.

RACE 4: PRESTIGE LITHO H'CAP - 1800M

On the home turn RIOTCHEE made contact with EMERY when shifting out to obtain clear running.

Over the final 50m HICKEYPICKER was held up behind DIBBLE’S DANE.

A swab sample was taken from the unplaced DIRECTOR’S SPECIAL.

RACE 5: QUEENSLAND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY CUP SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES - 1200M

Trainer M Tremble was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for MILLENNIAL by the prescribed time.

At the 700m YORUBA became unbalanced after being momentarily cramped for room by SCARLOEY.

BRAVE HAWK was inclined to hang out on the home turn when racing wide.

J Stanley, the rider of the 2nd placegetter ON THE RUN, accidentally dropped his whip near the 150m.

When questioned, G Colless stated that RAMSTADIUS, which was having its first start in blinkers, tended to race keenly in the early and middle stages. He further added that RAMSTADIUS compounded badly in the straight and voiced some concern regarding the colt’s action. A veterinary examination of RAMSTADIUS, however, immediately after the race, failed to reveal any abnormality and a further examination will be carried out when the horse cools down.

RACE 6: PPQ BUSINESS PLATES H'CAP - 1400M

KILAMANJARO jumped outwards at the start, hampering PAIR.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of KILAMANJARO, D Walsh stated that the gelding was presented with a good run during the event, however when placed under pressure from the 600m the horse appeared to get on the wrong leg and did not respond to his riding from that stage. A veterinary examination of KILAMANJARO failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken from that gelding. Trainer L Brazier was at a loss to explain KILAMANJARO’S performance today and undertook to report to stewards if anything came to light which might explain the run.

RACE 7: IN TOUCH CALL CENTRE H'CAP - 1300M

L Roberts replaced M Paget on NED’S REVENGE in this event as a result of M Paget becoming indisposed after riding BIG GEOFFREY in Race 6.

Approaching the 1000m, when being restrained by its rider G Colless to take a trailing position, MANNDO got its head up and was further hampered as a consequence of REVENUE RAISER shifting out.

A veterinary examination of FOREIGN MINISTER, which performed poorly, failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 8: ERNST & YOUNG SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1200M

As A Morrison was to be overweight, senior rider M Carson was substituted as the rider of DANCE IN THE DARK. A Morrison was fined the sum of $100.

ASSURE was slow to begin.

At the entrance to the straight, PEGUNNY STAR was crowded for room between the tiring SHADIYM and ASSURE which shifted out slightly to obtain clear running.

After attempting to improve to the inside of the heels of YOMBE, STARTELL had to be steadied on the home turn when that horse shifted back in towards the rail. STARTELL was then held up for clear running until nearing the 200m.

ALL WINNERS, WHAT DREAMS, DIRECTOR’S SPECIAL AND KILAMANJARO WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
