WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 11M. ALL TRACK


RACE 1:BRIGHT SHADOW H'CAP - 1500M.

Permission was granted for trainer A. Bailey to remove the nose roll on SUNSET. A. Bailey will be interviewed in relation to this matter.

DONBRODI and NEDSYND were both slow to begin.

PRINCESS SERAPH jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with RAISE 'N' TOAST, taking that horse out on to YALLAH'S GIFT.

Apprentice S. Nolan, rider of MR. DIG, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in at the 1000m.when not clear of JESSIE PERFECT, resulting in that horse being taken in on to YALLAH'S GIFT, which had to be steadied.

Near the 400m., TRUE ENOUGH shifted out and made contact with CIRCO.

Leaving the 300m., TRUE ENOUGH was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of M. Cahill, rider of JESSIE PERFECT.


RACE 2: LOWAN STAR H'CAP - 1200M.

After leaving the 1000m., REGAL TYCOON had to be restrained for some distance off the heels of MY FUNNY FACE.

A swab sample was taken from HUGE YEAR


RACE 3: LOOK ALOFT H'CAP - 1400M.

POWER AND EGO and JOGGERAMA were slow to begin.

MISS SPITFIRE and NOBLE MOSES made contact at the start.

THIS MANSHOOD jumped awkwardly.

After travelling 100m., THIS MANSHOOD had to be steadied when tightened for room by CHICKIE, which shifted in. C. Reith, rider of CHICKIE, was reprimanded for shifting ground when not fully clear.

CHICKIE commenced to race ungenerously after leaving the 1100m., and then made the 600m. crossing awkwardly and had to be checked. A short distance later, CHICKIE shifted out across the heels of THIS MANSHOOD and made contact with CERES.

Approaching the entrance to the straight, CHICKIE again was checked after being tightened for room between CERES, which shifted in to maintain its position, and NOBLE MOSES, which shifted out and away from POWER AND EGO.

For some distance in the straight, POWER AND EGO was unable to obtain clear running.
As B. Stewart had left the course without stewards' permission, an inquiry into the reason for B. Stewart returning to scale overweight on POWER AND EGO was adjourned to a date to be fixed.


RACE 4: BRAVERY H'CAP - 2233M.

JAY ELL was forced to race wide throughout the event.

Near the 300m., CHARGOLD shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running and as a result made heavy contact with SKY ROYAL. P. Birney, rider of CHARGOLD, was reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he must exercise more care.


RACE 5: MODE H'CAP - 1600M.

Near the 800m., LORD OSCAR had to be restrained off the heels of GREAT RELATIONS.

At the entrance to the straight, LORD OSCAR was held up for clear running.


RACE 6: TRISCAY H'CAP - 1000M.

As S. Shield was indisposed, M. Cahill was substituted as the rider of BELLA DANIKA.

DELIGHTFUL jumped away awkwardly and made contact with the hind quarters of BELLA DANIKA.

CELESTIAL BEAT was slow to begin.

STRIKES TWICE and BOOROONGA made contact at the start.

Passing the 800m., DELIGHTFUL had to be steadied off the heels of CONNIVE (J. Taylor), which shifted in. J. Taylor will be interviewed in relation to the matter.

Near the 500m., CONNIVE shifted in and brushed CELESTIAL BEAT, and again shifted in near the 400m. and made contact with CELESTIAL BEAT.

STRIKES TWICE (G. Colless) hung in throughout the race, and near the 200m. G. Colless accidentally dropped his whip. The racing manners of STRIKES TWICE were brought to the attention of trainer J. Wallace.


CONNIVE had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight, and then was held up over the concluding stages and had to be steadied when CELESTIAL BEAT shifted out.

An inquiry was opened into the running and handling of DELIGHTFUL. After taking evidence from jockey D. Walsh and trainer B. Marsh, the inquiry was adjourned to the offices of the QPC on Tuesday, 16 May 2000.


RACE 7: DENISE'S JOY H'CAP - 1400M.

ROYAL CONQUEROR was slow to begin.

Nearing the 1000m., ARCTIC VENTURE, which was pulling hard, shifted out, taking ONLY THE STRONG out onto the hind quarters of SIREC.

Approaching the 200m., ARCTIC VENTURE had to be checked when improving between STEEL SHUFFLE and HARAR THE HORRIBLE. In this incident, ARCTIC VENTURE made contact with the hind quarters of HAGAR THE HORRIBLE, as a result turning that horse in. SMOOCHIE SMOOCH also hung in at this stage, inconveniencing its rider.


RACE 8: ROUND THE WORLD H'CAP - 1400M.

As T. Duckett was indisposed, D. Walsh was substituted as the rider of BEGUILE.
TONTORE jumped awkwardly and lost ground. TONTORE then pulled hard in the middle stages.

LOCHDHU also began awkwardly.

At the 200m., BEGUILE shifted out when tiring, resulting in YOMBE having to be steadied.

KARNATAKA was held up for clear running until after leaving the 200m..

A veterinary examination of KARNATAKA following the event revealed that gelding to have sustained a laceration to the off hind cannon.


ALL WINNERS AND HUGE YEAR WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
