As J Noske was to be overweight, G Boss was substituted as the rider of WINNEZZAR. J Noske was fined the sum of $100.

NOXS and CITICHY came together on jumping away.

Leaving the 300m the tiring WINNEZZAR shifted out away from CELEBRITY. MINATOUR, which was following, was obliged to shift out abruptly off the heels of that horse, making heavy contact with the hind quarters of GOLDEN PEAK. The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that WINNEZZAR was galloped on on the outside of the near hind fetlock.

LOMAX suffered a bleeding attack during the event. As this was the second occasion on which the gelding had bled, it will incur a mandatory lifetime ban. A swab sample was taken from LOMAX.

After the running of this event the track was downgraded to DEAD.

Trainer S Mackinnon was advised that LOVE ME NOT must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next race start. He was also advised that he would be required to produce a veterinary clearance for LOVE ME NOT, including the results of an ECG test.

A veterinary examination of CONNIVE, which tailed off during the event, failed to reveal any abnormality. When questioned, L Cassidy stated that after being cramped for room by STRIKES TWICE approaching the first turn, CONNIVE refused to stretch out despite being hard ridden. D Beadman was suspended for a period of 9 meetings to commence at midnight on Thursday, 15 June, and expire at midnight on Thursday, 29 June 2000.

CHEIRON was slow to begin.

MAGNIFIER and MAJOR bumped heavily soon after the start.

An inquiry was opened into an incident near the 1100m where EL MIRADA, BONANOVA, MAJOR and TOLEDO all struck interference. A charge of careless riding was issued against D Gauci, the rider of OVER, in that he allowed his mount to shift in at the 1100m resulting in TOLEDO being checked when tightened for room. It was further specified that MAJOR was obliged to shift in off the heels of TOLEDO, causing severe interference to BONANOVA and crowding to EL MIRADA. The inquiry was adjourned to allow evidence to be taken from G Colless, the rider of MR. INNOCENT, which raced to the inside of TOLEDO at the time that gelding struck interference.
