WEATHER – FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - OUT 8.5M ALL TRACK

RACE 1: HANDY PROVERB H'CAP - 1500M

Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by apprentice A Morrison for failing to claim his full allowance on BIG GAME.

As M Aspinall was indisposed, stewards permitted the following riding replacements:

Race 1 LUSKIN GOLD M Carson
Race 2 BON MARAUDER L Hill
Race 3 SINNERS C Reith

Shortly after the start TOUCH OF SANITY had to be eased when crowded for room between PHRA PHRA and EXCLUSIVE SON which was taken out by KELLINA’S ICON.

RACE 2: TRISTINA H'CAP - 1843M

Stewards fined apprentice S Nolen $100 for failing to claim his full 3kg allowance on LIVE IN FAITH (Race 2), BIG TIMER (Race 5) and DANAJIVA (Race 7).

POLAR PRINCESS was slow to begin.

RACE 3: OUR PLANET H'CAP - 1600M

After considering an explanation from trainer C Pollard regarding the apparent failure to declare a rider for TO MAKE A BUCK by the prescribed time, no direct action was taken, however he was issued with a reprimand.

Stewards also, after considering the explanation tendered by trainer D Williams regarding SHIZUKA failing to be on course by the prescribed time, decided to take no direct action, however he, too, was issued with a reprimand.

LAWREY’S BELLOTTO was slow away.

Also at the start THUNDERBURST jumped awkwardly, shifted out and crowded BUNDEENA BOY.

Shortly after the start SHIZUKA was crowded for room between EVERGREEN TERRACE and MOHAIR which shifted out.

COURT COBAIN hung out for the major part of the race.

Rounding the home turn EVERGREEN TERRACE shifted out and forced HYSTERICAL BOSS and SHIZUKA wider on the track.

A Baker (HYSTERICAL BOSS) was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out near the 300m causing TO MAKE A BUCK to be eased.

Stewards questioned J Byrne regarding the performance of THUNDERBURST today and he explained that in his opinion the gelding raced quite greenly and would benefit from more racing. A veterinary examination of the gelding after the race revealed no obvious abnormalities and it was sent to be swabbed.

RACE 4: PRINCESS GRACIOUS H'CAP - 1400M

Trainer M Dunn was fined $25 for presenting GOODRICH to the mounting enclosure without its tongue tie, that being part of its declared gear.

Leaving the 1000m STUNTMAN got its head up when being steadied and as a result TUNES OF GLORY, which was following, had to be checked to avoid that horse’s heels.

Approaching the 200m KAAPTIVE DELIGHT shifted in slightly under pressure, resulting in STUNTMAN, which had obtained a tight run to its inside, being taken in and this caused PINKY THE PAINTER to be checked. In all the circumstances the stewards were not satisfied that any particular rider could be held responsible for the incident. Therefore no further action was taken.

RACE 5: LEFROY H'CAP - 1000M

Trainer K Schweida was fined $50 for failing to notify a correct gear change for IMPERIAL JESTER by the prescribed time.

JASON’S STAR shifted out abruptly at the start, causing BABY FACE to be checked.

Near the 300m MIDNIGHT MENACE had to be checked to avoid the heels of JASON’S STAR which was weakening.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of JASON’S STAR jockey G Birney could offer no real excuse for the colt’s performance and indicated that his mount was under pressure approaching the home turn. Trainer Mrs S Birney advised stewards that JASON’S STAR had been in work for some time and in her opinion was forward enough in fitness for today’s race, however added that JASON’S STAR may not be up to metropolitan standard. A veterinary examination of JASON’S STAR revealed no obvious abnormalities.

RACE 6: KINGSTON TOWN H'CAP - 1200M

As A Pattillo was indisposed, stewards permitted the following riding replacements:

Race 6 MONTAIGNE S Seamer
Race 7 STAY ME BROKE L Hill
Race 8 HOT ASH SLAY S Galloway

On jumping NOVA TIME shifted out and bumped ROJAH VIVIAN.

RACE 7: SILVER SHARPE H'CAP - 1400M

PETTY and HEATHER both knuckled over on jumping.

Due to the pace slackening approaching the 800m STAY ME BROKE was restrained off the heels of NATURAL IS MY NAME. This resulted in BLAZING TAAN, which was following, having to be checked and shifted out hampering UMPIRE and forcing DANAJIVA wider on the track.

DEVER’S GOLD was inclined to overrace in the middle stages of the race and hung out rounding the home turn.

Inside the 300m STAY ME BROKE was checked when crowded for room between SHAMROCK D'OR, which shifted in slightly, and NATURAL IS MY NAME (S Morris), which shifted out. In all the circumstances stewards were not satisfied that the reason for STAY ME BROKE being checked could be attributed solely to the shift from NATURAL IS MY NAME. Therefore, no direct action was taken, however S Morris was issued with a reprimand.

For a major part of the straight NATURAL IS MY NAME was unable to obtain clear running.

RACE 8: LIBRICI H'CAP - 1500M

MIDSHIPMEN ALL blundered on jumping.

UNISHAK was slow away.

ADVANCE KNOWLEDGE overraced in the early stages.

Near the 700m TOMMIX, which was inclined to pull hard, shifted in to avoid the heels of DIAMONDS FOR ME and this caused some crowding to HOT ASH SLAY which became unbalanced and lost some ground.

Inside the final 200m HOT ASH SLAY was inclined to hang out under pressure and in doing so brushed MIDSHIPMEN ALL.

ALL WINNERS AND THUNDERBURST WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
