WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - OUT 8.5M. ALL TRACK

RACE 1: MAYBE LAD H'AP - 1200M.

CANTANTES jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 500m., MR. LIMELIGHTER attempted to improve between GLADIATORS and TOOTLE THE FLUTE, which had initially shifted out passing the crossing. TOOTLE THE FLUTE then shifted in slightly, resulting in MR. LIMELIGHTER having to be steadied. In this incident, MAIZIERE, which was following, also had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MR. LIMELIGHTER. J. Byrne, rider of TOOTLE THE FLUTE, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care.

RACE 2: REGAL ADVENTURE H'CAP - 1400M.

TUCKERMAN jumped awkwardly.

Making the crossing, STRAWBERRY SEA became unbalanced. JAKE'S PICK, which was following, shifted out to avoid STRAWBERRY SEA, and in doing so forced CAPE SCHANCK wider on the track.

Near the 500m., TUCKERMAN, which improved between JAKE'S PICK and STRAWBERRY SEA, made contact with STRAWBERRY SEA, again causing that horse to become unbalanced.

TUCKERMAN was inclined to hang in in the straight, which obliged its rider to stop riding with the whip inside the 100m..

A veterinary examination of STRAWBERRY SEA, which finished a distant last, failed to reveal any abnormality. Trainer J. Traynor was advised that STRAWBERRY SEA would not be permitted to race in the metropolitan area until the gelding establishes form.

RACE 3: ROMANTIC DREAM H'CAP - 1400M.

Trainer E. Singh was fined $50 for failing to present JHANSI KI RANI on course by the prescribed time.

Trainer R. Stockwell was also fined $50 for failing to present GWENIVE on course by the prescribed time.

LOS KATROS blundered on jumping away.

CALLISTO jumped awkwardly, got its head up and lost considerable ground.

Near the 1200m., GALACTIC GIRL shifted in, taking SHE'S A DEAR in on to SEA LEGEND, which had to be steadied. In this incident, SEA LEGEND overreacted and lost considerable ground. S. Seamer, rider of GALACTIC GIRL, was reprimanded and reminded of his obligations to be 2 lengths clear when shifting ground.

A veterinary examination of DOCILE following the race revealed blood in its off nostril as a result of a small laceration to that nostril.

RACE 4: PRINCE GAUNTLET H'CAP - 1300M.

Trainer G. Reid was fined $50 for presenting CLAY SHAKER late to the enclosure.

G. Geran, rider of NAKED EYE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift out near the 200m. when not clear of ROCKEDGE, making heavy contact with that horse, which in turn was forced out on to HOT SCORPION, which had to be checked. G. Geran was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 24 February, and to expire at midnight, 10 March 2001.

RACE 5: MERRY MINSTREL H'CAP - 1843M.

Near the 1600m., RINGELING, which was pulling hard, shifted out and had to be checked off the heels of SKINNER'S REVENGE.

RACE 6: HEROIC ISLE H'CAP - 1500M.

As M. Bennett (ROADINSKY) and C. Whiteley (ICE PATROL) were indisposed, M. Paget and M Smith-Lester were substituted as the respective riders of those horses.

After leaving the 800m., SKY ROYAL had to be restrained off the heels of PUKEKO.

SKY ROYAL was inclined to shift in under pressure over the concluding stages and made contact with TROUBLE IN HEAVEN.

RACE 7: MR CONSISTENCY H'CAP - 1400M.

GRACEWICK was slow to begin.

Passing the 900m., MAJOR VICTORY pulled up onto the heels of GRACEWICK and had to be steadied. THE LAIRD and SMOOTH LEWY, which were following, were both hampered in consequence.

Inside the 200m., NED'S REVENGE shifted out to improve and made contact with BRITANNICUS.
