QLD TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SAT.18.8.01

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - FAST RAIL - 2.5M.


RACE 1: DESERT CHILL H'CAP - 1600M.

DIAMOND IN DUBAI and GILGURRY bumped soon after the start.

Approaching the 1200m., MARINE ROSE had to be restrained off the heels of GO HAYLEY GO, which shifted in when pulling hard.

GILGURRY got its head up and tended to overrace when being steadied off the heels of KANANGA, which shifted in at the 1100m..

GO HAYLEY GO was inclined to lay in in the early stages of the straight.


RACE 2: CACHONDEO H'CAP - 2215M.

Trainer K. Lantry was fined $50 for failing to present BRIDLE COUCHE on course by the prescribed time.

Passing the 300m., ANOTHER OFFCUT was hampered by YUPPIE, which shifted out when placed under pressure. At the same stage, L. Appo, rider of ANOTHER OFFCUT, accidentally dropped his whip.

DISSENT was held up for clear running until after passing the 200m..

A veterinary examination of CHARGOLD, which performed disappointingly, failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 3: SUPER MINE H'CAP - 1000M.

No racing incidents.


RACE 4: OUR ROSALEE H'CAP - 2115M.

GO SANDY reared as the start was effected and lost ground.

On the first turn, MISTER LUSKIN shifted in, resulting in KARAVAS being tightened on to DAWN LANDING, which in turn contacted the hind quarters of ACTRESS GRACE. As a consequence of this contact, ACTRESS GRACE was turned out across the running of DAWN LANDING, resulting in that horse having to be restrained by its rider. Whilst stewards were satisfied that Z. Purton, rider of MISTER LUSKIN, had endeavoured to relieve the tightening, he was nonetheless cautioned for allowing his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear.

SEAWELL was forced to race wide from the 700m..

DAWN LANDING was held up behind MISTER LUSKIN over the final 75 metres.

RACE 5: YOUNG CARBINIER SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1200M.

As Russian Knight improved to the outside of WHEELAWAY on straightening, WHEELAWAY shifted out, resulting in RUSSIAN KNIGHT and READY TO REV being inconvenienced.

RACE 6: ROCK SHOW H'CAP - 1200M.

IRISH BUNNY was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Leaving the 300m., the tiring ALFRED THE GREAT was inconvenienced by LINCOLN ROAD, which shifted out to obtain clear running.

LINCOLN ROAD was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.


RACE 7: SHOW H'CAP - 1600M.

Apprentice Z. Purton, rider of NED'S REVENGE, was reprimanded for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram over his declared riding weight.

Apprentice N. Evans, rider of EPIC FLYER, was reprimanded for using an excessive amount of whip on a horse showing no response.

RACE 8: GREY AFFAIR H'CAP - 1400M.

ERINTEL, which was kicked by another runner whilst proceeding to the barriers, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon, who reported that the mare had sustained a fracture to the lower jaw. As a consequence, ERINTEL was declared a late scratching at 4.48 p.m.. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on ERINTEL were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 23 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 18 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time.

BARSAC and GORILLA'S GALORE came together at the start.

TWIN ISLAND was slow to begin.

At the 1100m., PROJECT had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BARSAC, which shifted in.

Leaving the 400m., GORILLA'S GALORE had to be checked off the heels of VOWORANA when disappointed for a run inside PROTESTAS.


ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
