WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - TRUE POSITION
RACE 1: SUNNY QUEEN EGGS H'CAP - 2200M.
PLACID REIGN was slow to begin.
PLEASING SEQUENCE tended to overrace in the early stages of the event.
At the 800m., PLEASING SEQUENCE and MISTY MISTER came into contact when PLEASING SEQUENCE attempted to shift out from behind BARBARIANS.
On the home turn, the tiring FAR BEYOND was momentarily cramped for room by OUTRANK, which shifted in slightly.
When placed under pressure in the straight, PLEASING SEQUENCE was inclined to lay in.
RACE 2: AUSTRALIAN ACADEMY OF MUSIC H'CAP - 1400M.
No racing incidents.
RACE 3: HARVEY NORMAN PICANNINY SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1000M.
Trainer L. Ross was fined $50 for failing to ensure MISS LOUISA was presented on course by the prescribed time. A fine of $50 was imposed for failure to produce the Document of Description for MISS LOUISA upon request.
CALAWAY GAL jumped outwards at the start, inconveniencing MISS LOUISA and AQUATIC DRIVE.
CABARU QUEEN was slow to begin.
After jumping away awkwardly, GUDEN shifted in abruptly soon after the start, bumping heavily with WELSH TART and in turn resulting in FORCIBLY being checked when tightened to the inside of WELSH TART.
On the home turn, LA PECHE hung out slightly, resulting in KISS AN ANGEL being hampered when taken out on to the heels of WHISKEY ON ICE.
Soon after the start, WHISKEY ON ICE commenced to hang out, which resulted in that filly racing extremely wide until the home turn. Trainer P. Wheatley was advised that WHISKEY ON ICE, which also proved difficult to load, would be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next race start. The club's veterinary surgeon reported that WHISKEY ON ICE was found to be slightly shin sore in the near foreleg.
A. Morrison, rider of the unplaced GUDEN, was reprimanded for the amount of whip he used on that filly when it was showing no response.
RACE 4: LOVE ME MELONS H'CAP - 1200M.
SLEEK ALI was slow to begin.
J. Stanley, rider of MY TRUE NORTH, was reprimanded for shifting ground abruptly from behind RUSSIAN KNIGHT at the entrance to the straight, resulting in his mount making solid contact with DEVIL.
When questioned, apprentice Z. Purton indicated that RUSSIAN KNIGHT, which was having its first start in blinkers, tended to race keenly in the early stages which resulted in the gelding racing in a more prominent position than was intended.
A veterinary examination of MY TRUE NORTH following the event revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the front of the near hind coronet band.
RACE 5: NUDGEE COLLEGE CUP - 1800M.
At the request of M. Pelling, BRASSED was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to start.
No racing incidents.

As the start was effected, SHUMANN reared and lost ground.
CHEMICAL BROTHER jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
GET GOING also jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, contacting ANTHEMS.
POLISH THE SILVER and YALLAH STINGER also made contact at the start.
Due to the lack of pace, SCHUMANN commenced to overrace approaching the 1000m. and ran up on to the heels of POLISH THE SILVER. As a consequence of this incident, POLISH THE SILVER sustained injuries to the near hind leg. The clubs veterinary surgeon reported that a post race examination revealed that POLISH THE SILVER had severed the superficial digital flexor tendon.
After being held up for a run in the early part of the straight, CHEMICAL BROTHER was obliged to shift out abruptly off the heels of POLISH THE SILVER, which shifted out whilst tiring near the 300m.
RACE 7: NORTHSIDE HONDA H'CAP - 1200M.
KULNURA jumped away very awkwardly and made contact with KIWI WARRIOR and as a result lost ground.
A. Merritt, rider of LARABIA, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 1100m., he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of ERIC, resulting in ERIC being taken in on to ARGENTINA, which as a consequence was forced on to the hind quarters of CITIBEST. As a result of this contact, CITIBEST shifted out, causing ARGENTINA to strike the heels of that gelding and lost ground. A. Merritt was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 6 meetings, to commence at midnight, 21 October, and to expire at midnight, 1 November 2001.
