RACE 2: HONDA INDY 300 H'CAP – 1400M
MARBINE pulled hard in the early stages due to the slow pace.
Also as a consequence of the slow early speed, NOTHIN' LEICA ROSE got its head up approaching the first turn and shifted out hampering TAYLOR DANE and in turn forcing that filly wider on the track.
For some distance approaching the 150m POLENTA was held up for a run behind DEVIL.

When the pace slowed at the 1500m CANTERBURY DOWNS struck the heels of HIMALAYA FALCON and blundered badly. FORGING'S LAD, which was racing to the outside of CANTERBURY DOWNS, almost fell after clipping the heels of CANTERBURY DOWNS which shifted out abruptly after blundering. HIMALAYA FALCON also sustained lacerations to the off hind in running.
RACE 5: CITY PEUGEOT SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP – 1600M
Prior to declaring correct weight, stewards interviewed jockey M. Cahill and the starter Mr W. Shuck to ascertain whether NO STOPS had been afforded a fair start. M. Cahill stated that he had been forewarned by connections that NO STOPS could be a little fractious in the barriers. He confirmed that after being loaded the gelding was somewhat fractious and as the start was effected NO STOPS reared up which resulted in the horse missing the start by a considerable margin. M. Cahill stated further that whilst a barrier attendant had been attempting to pacify NO STOPS in the barriers, the attendant had not hindered the horse from jumping in any fashion. The starter Mr W. Shuck confirmed M. Cahill's assessment of the incident. Consequently stewards were satisfied that NO STOPS had been afforded a fair start and correct weight was semaphored. Mr S. Clarke, stable foreman for trainer S. B. Laming, was advised that NO STOPS must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next race start.
Approaching the 1000m BOROCCA raced ungenerously and lost ground of its own accord.
The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that THE BONDI EXPRESS sustained a laceration to the front of the near fore pastern and that BOROCCA sustained a laceration to the inside of the off fore cannon.
RACE 6: FM 104 TRIPLE M ASCOT H'CAP – 1400M

After being momentarily cramped for room by KING LOTTO leaving the 1200m, WYNGROVE got its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance.
When PITTANCE shifted in slightly near the 800m, GULLCATCHER and KING LOTTO were momentarily placed in restricted room.
Close to the finishing line AMAIZCAY received tightening from KING LOTTO which was inclined to shift away from KENCONCARNE.

RACE 8: SALTERS OF MOOROOKA H'CAP – 1500M
Approaching the 1000m KAVORKA had to be checked off the heels of CARAMEL STAR which at that stage was steadied by its rider to take a trailing position. NORTHERN FRIENDS in turn had to be restrained off KAVORKA.
Approaching the 600m crossing NORTHERN FRIENDS shifted out off the heels of KAVORKA and bumped the hind quarters of EIMEO BAY. MAGRITTE and GORILLA'S GALORE, which were following, suffered some inconvenience as a consequence.
When shifting out to obtain clear running at the 150m, KAVORKA came into contact with CARAMEL STAR resulting in CARAMEL STAR being taken out on to PACIFIC LANE which in turn was tightened on to the hind quarters of EIMEO BAY. As a result of this contact, KAVORKA became unbalanced.
