QLD TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT WED.17.7.02

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr J. Hackett (Chairman), Mr G. Ireland, Mr D. Hensler, Mr R. Sanders, W. Birch, Miss S. Gillespie (Cadet).

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - FAST RAIL - 10M. ALL TRACK


RACE 1: JONARON H'CAP - 1000M.

Approaching the 800m., MISS JONES shifted out and made contact with the hind quarters of CHASING BUTTERFLYS, forcing that horse out on to SUMMER EYES.

VARNA, which raced greenly, hung out approaching the home turn, and rounding the home turn took REGAL SAPPHIRE wider on the track.

VARNA was also inclined to shift in under pressure over the concluding stages of the race.

In the early stages of the straight, NOVATRICE was held up for clear running.


RACE 2: POST ELECT H'CAP - 1000M.

An inquiry was held into the circumstances surrounding CADGEE being presented and racing with blinkers. Following an explanation from trainer D. Strong, stewards adjourned the inquiry to enable further investigations to be carried out.

As C. Reith was overweight, M. Williamson was substituted as the rider of HADJIEL. C. Reith was fined $100.

LORD DEHERE brushed FREEHILL shortly after the start, and then shifted out, taking PALESTINIAN out on to THIS SHOOD CLICK and HADJIEL.

Shortly after jumping away, ABSROSI shifted in and hampered GENERAL SALUTE.

Near the 800m., THE SHOOD CLICK shifted in and brushed GENERAL SALUTE.

SEROE COLORADO was inclined to race greenly rounding the home turn.

At the 100m., THIS SHOOD CLICK, when shifting out to improve, made contact with FREEHILL.

CADGEE cast its near fore plate in running.


RACE 3: YOUNG CARBINIER H'CAP - 1400M.

HIGHLAND STORM commenced to pull hard rounding the first turn and had to be eased away from the heels of INTRACTABLE.



RACE 4: COUNT HENRI H'CAP - 1800M.

LOVE AND SCANDAL was slow to begin.

Rounding the first turn, DUEL FUEL was inclined to overrace.

Leaving the 1400m., CELTIC DANE was inclined to get its head up and overrace.

BUSH TRIUMPH was held up for clear running from near the 200m. until after leaving the 100m..

BUSH TRIUMPH had to be steadied away from the heels of HELL RAISER near the finish line.


RACE 5: BLONDIN H'CAP - 1200M.

Apprentice P. Hammersley was fined $100 for returning to scale in excess of .5 of a kilogram over his declared riding weight.

RELEVANCE was slow to begin.

MERKABA was forced to race wide throughout the event.

Near the 200m., ALLSORT had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MERKABA, which shifted in.


RACE 6: TAA 25 YEAR CLUB H'CAP - 1200M.

FROM THE CELLAR was inclined to race a little ungenerously rounding the first turn.

Near the 800m., OODLES 'N' OODLES became unbalanced when racing in restricted room inside NATIONAL SPIRIT, which was taken in by PEDRO'S GIRL, which shifted in and away from MANDA PANDA.

OODLES 'N' OODLES again became unbalanced near the home turn and raced ungenerously when in restricted room inside O' VENUS and CIARA.

Approaching the 200m., MARCASITE shifted out to improve and inconvenienced MANDA PANDA, which was tiring.

Leaving the 200m., PEDRO'S GIRL shifted in momentarily, tightening MABE and MISS ASTUR.


RACE 7: TELLTINA H'CAP - 1000M.

As M. Evans was ill, stewards approved the replacement of M. Pelling as the rider of GREY REGENT.

Stewards approved the replacement of V. Caddy for C. Eaton as the rider of NASEIRO. Following an explanation, no action was taken. Apprentice V. Caddy was fined $100 for failing to claim the major portion of his allowance on NASEIRO.

Trainer R. Heathcote was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for CHENAR by the required time.

After travelling a short distance, CHENAR had to be steadied and relinquish its position when tightened for room between IRON ORE and WONDER KICK, which shifted out.

Near the 700m., CELESTIAL BEAT was tightened for room between CHENAR and STORM PRINCESS when both horses shifted ground.

N. Campton, rider of ROYAL ENTOURAGE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 600m., he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of IRON ORE, resulting in that horse being taken in onto WONDER KICK, which had to be checked and lost its position. N. Campton was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 20 July, and to expire at midnight 1 August 2002.

Making the home turn, WONDER KICK hung out, forcing CHENAR out on to the heels of STORM PRINCESS.


RACE 8: SYMPOSE H'CAP - 1500M.

M. Williamson was dislodged from JACK'S DREAM when proceeding to the barriers. Both horse and rider were examined and cleared to start in the race.

RENAZZO was slow to jump.

RENAZZO was badly held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.

Near the 100m., PUKEKO shifted out on to JACK'S DREAM, taking that horse wider.

HANDSOME CREOLE was obliged to race wide throughout the event.


ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
