WEATHER - FNE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 3M. ALL TRACK
GENERAL: As M. Dracos was indisposed, the following riding replacements were approved: Race 3. CAPICE - C. Eaton; Race 4. COLD START - R. Hurley; Race 6. SHA ALMA - C. Eaton; Race 7. CROWN REGATTA - R. Hurley; Race 8. DONTA BATDY - R. Hurley.
RACE 1: RIGHT VIBES H'CAP - 2118M.
In the early stages, COMMAND THE WIND pulled hard when being restrained off the heels of VICTORY RANGER.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, KUTISHA'S BOY shifted in, taking RAFFUTE in on to PRINCE HAL, resulting in ICY PRIDE having to be momentarily tightened for room when taken on to the hind quarters of COMMAND THE WIND.
Near the 1600m., RAFFUTE became unbalanced when steadying off the heels of VICTORY RANGER. PRINCE HAL, which was following, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of RAFFUTE.
When attempting to improve to the outside of the heels of VICTORY RANGER near the 500m., COMMAND THE WIND made contact with RAFFUTE on a number of occasions. R. Hurley, rider of COMMAND THE WIND, was issued with a reprimand and advised that in future he must be fully clear before shifting ground.
RACE 2: SHIFT ALONG H'CAP - 1400M.
AUTUMN HABIT, which was found to have sustained minor abrasions to the off hip on arrival at the track, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
No racing incidents.
RACE 3:SHAIL H'CAP - 1200M.
As B. Stewart was to be overweight, S. Galloway was substituted as the rider of WINNING FRIENDS, D. Tanti as the rider of COPPER COIN (Race 4), and A. Spiteri as the rider of WITH MY (Race 7). B. Stewart was fined the sum of $300.
As S. Katsidis was to be overweight, G. Baker was substituted as the rider of MAGIC OF MACKAY. S. Katsidis was fined the sum of $200.
MAGIC OF MACKAY was slow to begin.
RIVIERA TREASURE jumped awkwardly.
CAPICE was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.
Near the 150m., LAKSA had to be restrained to avoid the heels of SEAHAWK LASS, which shifted out. M. Gray, rider of SEAHAWK LASS, was advised to exercise more care in future when shifting ground.
A veterinary examination of WINNING FRIENDS following the event revealed the mare to have sustained a laceration to the off fore cannon.
RACE 4: SCOMELD H'CAP - 1600M.
PAPA'S DREAM pulled hard in the early stages.
COPPER COIN had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.
COSMIC COMET was unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages.
RACE 5: 2002 APPRENTICES' CUP - 1200M.
Near the 800m., EMPYREAN shifted out and made contact with SLEEPY POET.
RACE 6: MACHETE H'CAP - 1500M.
S. Katsidis was examined by the club's doctor after riding in race 4 and stood down from his remaining engagements. The following riding substitutions were approved: Race 6. SAMMY - S. Galloway; Race 7. FINAL DEMAND - B. Stewart; Race 8. WEAISHE - G. Duffy.
SHA ALMA jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
After leaving the 400m., HUGE YEAR shifted out, making contact with SAMMY, taking that gelding out on to SHA ALMA.
A veterinary examination of CRACKERJACK'S HOPE revealed the gelding to have pulled up lame in the off fore foot.
RACE 7: ISVESITA QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1400M.
The starter reported that the tongue-tie on WESTERN SUCCESS was unable to be fastened on that filly and as a result was loaded without that gear.
JUST AMAZON jumped awkwardly.
FLASH VALENTINE shifted in at the start, taking THIS SHOOD CLICK in on to CROWN REGATTA.
LOS GATOS shifted out on jumping away and made contact with WITH MY.
Shortly after the start, MARDI GRAS shifted in, tightening DANTIBES' TREASURE in on to , MIGHTY ICON, which had to be steadied. Z. Purton, rider of MARDI GRAS, was reprimanded and advised to be fully clear when shifting ground.
When questioned in relation to the disappointing performance of FINAL DEMAND, B. Stewart stated that on straightening he was momentarily inconvenienced by FLASH VALENTINE, which shifted out. however when placed under pressure in the straight, the gelding failed to respond to his riding.A veterinary examination of FINAL DEMAND failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 8: BEN THE BUCKS' H'CAP - 1000M.
MAJORETTE jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
OUR MICK shifted out at the start and made contact with DONTA BATDY.
Approaching the 800m., ELECTRICITY had to be steadied when briefly tightened for room between MISS MARTINDALE and DONTA BATDY, which was taken in by IRON ORE.
MAJORETTE made the crossing awkwardly at the 600m..
Both WEAISHE and ELECTRICITY were obliged to race wide making the home turn.
Near the 200m., MISS MARTINDLE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MAJORETTE, which shifted out. A. Spiteri, rider of MAJORETTE, was advised to exercise more care.
ALL WINNERS AND QUALO WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
