GENERAL: From BTC meeting, 5.10.02
G. Colless, rider of GENTLEMAN CALLER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 2100m. when not clear of ARCHIDAMIA, which in turn was taken in on to JACK'S DREAM, which lost its position. In assessing penalty, stewards had regard to the suspension G. Colless incurred at Beaudesert on 4 October, and determined that his licence to ride in races be suspended for a period covered by 16 meetings, inclusive of the Beaudesert penalty, to expire at midnight, 31 October 2002.
RACE 1: SINGAPORE TOURISM BOARD H'CAP - 1200M.
ADMIRAL'S COMMAND knuckled on jumping away.
THRASH jumped awkwardly.
Near the 1100m., ARAKHAN was tightened for room by ADMIRAL'S COMMAND, which was inclined to shift in and away from PEDRO'S SUCCESS.
Leaving the 1000m., MIGHT BE MAGIC had to be steadied off the heels of PLAY ME, which shifted in.
Rounding the first turn, BOTTLE shifted in, making contact with SEAWAY LAD, forcing that horse on to the hind quarters of MIGHT BE MAGIC.
ARAKHAN was reluctant to hold its position near the 800m. when racing in restricted room inside MIGHT BE MAGIC.
After leaving the crossing at the 600m., SEAWAY LAD had to be checked when racing in restricted room between BOTTLE and MIGHT BE MAGIC, which shifted out slightly. THRASH, which was following, had to shift out to avoid the heels of SEAWAY LAD, forcing THONG TONG wider on the track.
Approaching the 500m., SNOWBLAST shifted wider on the track, taking STAYS ON TOUR wider on the track. As a result of SNOWBLAST shifting wider, PLAY ME was able to secure a run through on its inside.
Near the 300m., ARAKHAN shifted out and made contact with BOTTLE.
RACE 2: BRISBANE HILTON H'CAP - 1200M.
Trainer J. Robinson was fined $50 for failing to present ZOFFAZAM on course by the prescribed time.
Warnings were issued to the connections of LATINO RED and MISS SIAM for their pre race behaviour when proceeding to the barriers.
ZOFFAZAM was slow to begin.
MOSSAIRE jumped outwards at the start and lost ground.
Near the 700m., CHARMING EYES became unbalanced and hung out.
ZAMAALA ROSE raced wide for the majority of the race.
RACE 3: QUEEN STREET MALL H'CAP - 1000M.
As A. Pattillo was indisposed, Z. Purton was substituted as the rider of KEEP COMING.
A Kennedy, rider of FAITHLESS, reported that his saddle shifted to the near side near the 800m..
Shortly after the start, MINT REGENT was tightened for room between HELIUM and ALDERNITI LAD, which shifted out.
Approaching the home turn, FAITHLESS had to be steadied away from the heels of ARAKOOLA.
Near the 200m., MINT REGENT shifted in slightly and made contact with REGAL GENTLEMAN.
RACE 4: XXXX H'CAP - 1400M.
After riding in race 1, G. Duffy was examined by the club's doctor and stood down from his remaining engagements and replaced as follows: DANTIBES' INFERNO - M. Bennett; Race 5. PEKAN LADY - M. Williamson; Race 6. DANTIBES TREASURE - M. Carson; Race 7. DEERHILL - J. Powell.
TOO RIGHT, which jumped outwards at the start, dislodging R. Hurley, was declared ineligible to race until it trials to the satisfaction of the stewards.
DANTIBES INFERNO, ON THE BAY and NO STOP LOSS were slow to begin.
Near the 1100m., ON THE BAY became unbalanced when momentarily tightened by STORMY JOE when it had to be steadied off the heels of PLEASURE SEEKER.
DANTIBES' INFERNO made the 600m. crossing awkwardly.
STORMY JOE was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
ON THE BAY, which appeared to pull hard in running and tired over the concluding stages, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon who reported that the horse appeared to be suffering from a respiratory disorder. This was confirmed by A. Erhart, who reported that the horse's breathing in the race was abnormal. ON THE BAY was declared ineligible to race until it obtains a veterinary clearance, which encompasses an endoscopic examination, and the horse must also trial satisfactorily before racing again.
RACE 5: MERCEDES BENZ H'CAP - 1835M.
ROAD TO SEA was a late scratching at 10.30 a.m. for veterinary reasons.
Rounding the first turn, MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH was tightened for room when racing inside MINORITY and SPINNERMAN, which was taken in by KAMESHIMA.
When steadied off the heels of PEKAN LADY approaching the 700m., REMABAY shifted out, taking SPINNERMAN wider on the track.
RACE 6: GREENSLOPES PRIVATE HOSPITAL H'CAP - 1500M.
TRIP TO TIARO was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to race.
Leaving the 1400m., KING LEO was tightened for room by WISHES, which was inclined to shift in and away from DANTIBES' TREASURE.
At the same stage, AWESOME DATE had to be steadied when racing in restricted room inside IRISH SON, which was taken in by SURRENDERS.
Leaving the 1000m., TRIP TO TIARO got its head up and was inclined to race ungenerously.
When questioned concerning the seemingly disappointing performance of TRIP TO TIARO, D. Tanti stated that in his opinion the horse may have jarred up on the track. A veterinary examination of TRIP TO TIARO subsequent to the race failed to reveal any abnormalies.
RACE 7: AAMI H'CAP - 1500M.
STRIKE FORCE was slow to begin.
RACE 8: TREASURY CASINO H'CAP - 1200M.
SEAENZA jumped inwards at the start and made contact with LACRYMA BAY.
SEAENZA made the crossing at the 600m. awkwardly.
LACRYMA BAY shifted ground under pressure over the concluding stages of the race. A veterinary examination of LACRYMA BAY failed to reveal any abnormality.
When questioned concerning the seemingly disappointing performance of FOOTWEAR, S. Galloway reported that after having a nice run throughout the race, the horse did not finish the race off as expected and was beaten 200m. from the finish. Trainer's representative M. Hawkes indicated that the horse's current racing program would be reviewed.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
