QLD TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT WED.30.10.02

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr A. Reardon (Chairman), Mr G. Ireland, Mr D. Hensler, Mr W. Birch, Mr W. Flynn.

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 5.5M. ALL TRACK


RACE 1: CHIME ZAM H'CAP - 1300M.

Shortly after the start, MAIDEN'S BLUSH shifted in and made contact with SQUEEL.

After passing the 1000m., GO ON NOW GO, when being steadied off the heels of BELLE AMAZON, shifted out and was inclined to race ungenerously for a short distance.

TRAVELLING GEM made the crossing at the 600m. awkwardly.

BELLE AMAZON blundered near the 300m. when racing greenly.


RACE 2: BEAU ZEPHYR H'CAP - 1300M.

TORINY jumped awkwardly.

ANNIHILATOR was hampered shortly after the start when tightened for room between BECKWORTH and GLORIOUS FEELING.

SCOTTISH FLYER pulled hard in the early and middle stages.

Approaching the home turn, GLORIOUS FEELING had to be steadied when tightened for room between PEDRO'S SUCCESS and ANNIHILATOR.

Making the home turn, ANNIHILATOR shifted in, making contact with PEDRO'S SUCCESS.


RACE 3: SOVEREIGN CHIEF H'CAP - 1400M.

PARTRIDGE jumped awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, PARTRIDGE, IVRESSE and BOTTLE were all tightened for room between UP THE SLEEVE and MAXIMIZE, which was taken out slightly by CANADIAN BUNNY.

Near the 1100m., NIMES had to be checked when tightened for room between CANADIAN BUNNY, which shifted in slightly, and MY BULL'S EYE, which shifted out.

CANADIAN BUNNY hung out after leaving the 800m. and finished a distant last. On return to the enclosure, CANADIAN BUNNY was found to be bleeding from both nostrils, and was barred from racing for the mandatory period of 3 months.

MY BULL'S EYE was unable to obtain clear running in the straight.


RACE 4: ON THE BEACH H'CAP - 1200M.

Approaching the first turn, JUST KISTA had to be steadied to avoid the heels of COTTON BRAE, which shifted in.

Near the 1000m., AFRICAN QUEEN shifted out, taking COTTON BRAE out across the heels of MARMADAMAH.

Near the 350m., AFRICAN QUEEN became awkward when attempting to improve between LIMBER ON and MARMADAMAH.


RACE 5: VO ROGUE H'CAP - 1828M.

Due to an industrial stoppage by QTC ground staff, the starting time for this race was rescheduled to 3.18 p.m., with the remaining race times altered as follows: Race 6 - 3.50 p.m.; Race 7 - 4.24 p.m.; Race 8 - 4.57 p.m..

TELL DARCY was slow to begin.

SUPER IMPRINT shifted out abruptly on jumping away, resulting in that horse losing considerable ground. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that he would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for SUPER IMPRINT prior to its next race start.

Near the 1200m., STASERA shifted out from behind the heels of IRISH SON, forcing SUPERTRAMP wider on the track.

KING LEO was held up for clear running from the entrance to the straight until near the 200m..


RACE 6: KING RAUTAI H'CAP - 1400M.

Approaching the 1200m., both GOLD KING and MONTESANTOS SPIRIT were tightened for room by VIROSCO, which was taken in momentarily by LUILATUI.

Near the 1000m., when being restrained, LUILATUI was inclined to race ungenerously and shifted in, making contact with the running rail.

At approximately the 900m., GOLD KING shifted out to avoid the heels of LUILATUI and in doing so forced MONTESANTOS SPIRIT wider on the track.

Stable representative B. Hill reported that SERGEANT PEPPERS had bled from both nostrils after the event. SERGEANT PEPPERS will be barred from racing for the mandatory period of 3 months.

A veterinary examination of REALE D'OR following the event revealed the gelding to be sore in the off hind leg.


RACE 7: CHARLTON BOY H'CAP - 1600M.

B. Stewart was examined by the club's doctor after riding in race 6 and stood down from his engagement on KWILA STAR. R. Goltz was substituted as the rider of that gelding.

STRIKE FORCE and KWILA STAR were slow to begin.



RACE 8: MIGHTY GREY H'CAP - 1200M.

CHRISTMAS HANDOUT jumped away awkwardly and made contact with MISTER SQUEALER.

MY SHERIFF was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

Close to the finish line, MISTER SQUEALER had to be steadied off the heels of PRIDE OF PARIS.



ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
