WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 5.5M. ALL TRACK
GENERAL: As G. Colless was unable to make the required weight of UPPITY in race 1 and MISTER OMEGA in race 7, they were replaced by G. Duffy and D. Tanti respectively. G. Colless was fined the sum of $300.
RACE 1: MERCEDES-BENZ M-CLASS H'CAP - 1400M.
Approaching the 200m., MAXCAY shifted in momentarily, making contact with BRAID. A short distance later, MAXCAY shifed out under pressure and brushed MY BULL'S EYE.
M. Pelling, rider of the winner MAXCAY, accidentally dropped his whip after passing the 100m..
Nearing the finish line, the tiring BRAID was cramped for room by MISS SIAM, which in turn was obliged to shift in off the heels of UPPITY. G. Duffy, rider of UPPITY, was urged to make more effort to keep his mounts on a true course.
RACE 2: MERCEDES-BENZ A-CLASS H'CAP - 1600M.
Trainer B. Mahon was fined $50 for failing to present BENO on course by the prescribed time.
SHOW MARTIAL was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, CANTANTES attempted to buck for a number of strides due to the saddle slipping back. As a consequence, CANTANTES lost ground. Again at the 1400m., CANTANTES lost further ground when that mare raced awkwardly when slightly cramped for room by MONTESANTOS SPIRIT.
RACE 3: MERCDES-BENZ C-CLASS H'CAP - 2234M.
Making the 600m., crossing, SPLIT THE WIND was hampered when momentarily tightened for room by ROYAL DANEHILL. Whilst stewards were satisfied that his mount had only shifted in marginally, B. Stewart, rider of ROYAL DANEHILL, was nonetheless cautioned and urged to exercise more care.
K. Yoshida, rider of MIDNIGHT MOON, was found guilty of a charge of charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift out on the home turn when insufficiently clear of SPLIT THE WIND, resulting in that horse being checked when tightened on to GENTLEMAN CALLER. K. Yoshida was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 9 November, and to expire at midnight, 21 November 2002.
RACE 4: MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS H'CAP - 1200M.
DEEPDENE jumped away awkwardly and made contact with MEEK.
After travelling a short distance, LEICA CAT shifted in, hampering TEGEA and BRIGHT EYED BOY.
DEEPDENE raced greenly in the early stages and at the 800m. struck the running rail of its own accord and lost ground.
From the top of the straight until after passing the 200m., HYMN TO HER was held up for clear running.
RACE 5: MERCEDES-BENZ CENTENARY CLASSIC H'CAP - 1200M.
OODLES 'N' BOODLES jumped inwards at the start, inconveniencing PATRICIA CATHERINE, MUSHOOD and STYLISH AMBER.
After being forced to race wide rounding the first turn, EXCELLENT ANN shifted in at the 800m., cramping MUSHOOD on to GLENNIE GAL.
RACE 6: MERCEDES-BENZ OF BRISBANE H'CAP - 1300M.
In the early stages of the straight, NICTOM was held up for clear running inside MANSION.
RACE 7: MERCEDS-BENZ GRAND MOTORS PRESTIGE H'CAP - 1000M.
As P. Spry was indisposed, P. Hammersley was substituted as the rider of MISTER OMEGA.
In the early stages of the straight, SUNDIAL was inclined to lay in on top of ROYAL ENTOURAGE.
RACE 8: MERCEDES-BENZ GARRY CRICK AUTO GROUP - 1200M.
S. Galloway, rider of the 3rd placegetter SOLARUS, was fined $50 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram over his declared riding weight.
THE BOWRAL BATSMAN lost ground at the start after receiving a bump from DARTH VADER.
Approaching the 800m., MANABOZHO had to be steadied to avoid the heels of REPRENDRE, which shifted in.
At the 500m., GENERAL JUGAH had to be checked off the heels of MANABOZHO when racing fiercely.
Soon after straightening, CHICAGO NIGHTS was disappointed for a run between SOLARUS and DARTH VADER.
Over the final 50m., B. Albuino was unable to fully test REPRENDRE when his mount raced in restricted room inside the heels of MANABOZHO.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
