STEWARDS PANEL: Mr A. Reardon (Chairman), Mr J. Hackett, Mr C. McLune, Mr R. Sanders, Mr W. Flynn, Mr C. Waller (Cadet).

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - TRUE POSITION


RACE 1: TENDER PLUS H'CAP - 1200M

JOHN SYN was slow to begin.

BANCHIERI jumped awkwardly.

QUEEN AMIDALA also jumped awkwardly and made contact with the hind quarters of NETAZI.

Near the 700m., DANEHILL STAR had to be restrained to avoid the heels of MISSILE SAM, which shifted out.

After leaving the 400m., MISSILE SAM shifted out to improve and made contact with LIMITED IMPULSE.

MORINGA'S MANDRAKE was obliged to race wide throughout the event.


RACE 2: HAMILTON HOTEL H'CAP - 1400M.

SMIK and CORRETJA were slow to begin.

CORRETJA was held up for clear running from the 400m. until near the 200m..

Approaching the 200m., SEND A SUB had to be checked to avoid the heels of the tiring EVIL SNIP.

At the same stage, LAWFUL POKER was also disappointed for a run between CALDRON and the tiring EVIL SNIP.

SERGEANT PEPPERS hung in under pressure in the straight.

KING SHALFORD and FIGURITOUT were both obliged to race wide throughout the event.

A swab sample was taken from 2nd placegetter, SIR CRAIGLEE.


RACE 3: HARDY BROTHERS JEWELLERS QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1400M.

AMEX was very slow to begin.

JOY OF FLIGHT was slow to jump.



RACE 4: AUSTRALIA POST STAKES QTIS ADDED STAKES - 1400M.
.
As G. Colless was to be overweight, N. Jolly was substituted as the rider of PARMENA. G. Colless was fined $200.

L'ESPALIER and STARCRAFT were slow to begin.

Passing the 1100m., NOBLE RED, which was racing fiercely, had to be checked off the heels of PROMOTED.

Near the 700m., L'ESPALIER shifted out when being steadied off the heels of SAUCER OF MILK, and in doing so forced NOBLE RED out on to ANNIE LA VIE. At the same stage, NOBLE RED had to be restrained off the heels of MANNAKARMA.

At the 500m., STARCRAFT was tightened for room by DELLWOOD DANCER, which shifted in slightly.

A veterinary examination of SAFETY failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 5: SAM'S SEAFOOD WINTER STAKES - 1500M.

GOLDEN SNITCH raced fiercely from the 1100m. to the 900m..

Approaching the home turn, JETSET LASS was momentarily tightened for room between WITH MY and HOSANNAH, which shifted out.

ALTISSIMO ROSE was inclined to hang out after leaving the 600m..

MOON DRAGON was obliged to race wide throughout the event.


RACE 6: MERCEDES-BENZ STAKES - 1200M.

KARAMAZOU was slow to begin.

Approaching the first turn, SHOCKEROO and STARTELL were buffeted and tightened for room between BLESSUM, which shifted out slightly, and PALLADIUM STAR, which shifted in. J. Powell, rider of PALLADIUM, was reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he must allow sufficient room for runners to his inside.

ST. BASIL was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

Near the 200m., POLYGRAM had to be steadied to avoid the heels of PANORAMA HEIGHTS, which shifted out.

Trainer J. Morrisey was questioned as to whether he had initiated any change of instructions to jockey G. Boss for PEMBLETON. He stated that the instructions were to endeavor to settle the horse back in the field, especially as PEMBLETON had drawn wide. However G. Boss reported to Mr Morrisey that he was unable to restrain the gelding in the early stages, and therefore he was forced to take up a position closer to the lead.

RACE 7: TATTERSALL'S CUP - 2200M.

Shortly after the start, SAILOR'S LARK shifted in, resulting in REPUBLIC having to be steadied.

Approaching the home turn, TELL SOMEONE attempted to improve between the tiring SAILOR'S LARK and VICTORY RANGER where there was insufficient room and as a result had to be checked.

RAW INSTINCT was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

A veterinary examination of SAILOR'S LARK failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 8: KEITH PROWSE TRAVEL OPEN MILE - 1600M.

MAKE ME A MIRACLE was slow to begin.

GENERALISSIMO hung in under pressure in the straight.

C. Munce was reprimanded for failing to weigh in 5th on WARRIOR TRADER.



ALL WINNERS AND SIR CRAIGLEA WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
