WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - TRUE POSITION


RACE 1: ST MARGARET'S PARENTS & FRIENDS ASSN. H'CAP - 1200M.

POTESTAS jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

After leaving the 1000m., when the pace steadied, INNER CITY shifted out from behind the heels of QUALO, taking CEDAR LODGE wider on the track.

QUALO was inclined to hang in under pressure in the straight.

PHILP was obliged to race wide throughout the event.


RACE 2: COO'EE BRISBANE H'CAP - 2100M.

S. Seamer, rider of SEA SIOUX, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift out after leaving the 500m. when insufficiently clear of NARWHAL, taking that horse out towards APPIAN RULE, resulting in NARWHAL having to be checked near the 400m.. S. Seamer was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 9 August, and to expire at midnight, 20 August 2003.

Near the 1500m., TWILIGHT YEARS had to be steadied off the heels of NARWHAL and was obliged to shift out.


RACE 3: ST. MARGARET'S OLD GIRLS ASSOCIATION H'CAP - 1200M.

Approaching the 1000m., FLAT had to be steadied to avoid the heels of RECORD TIME, which shifted in. FLAT was then obliged to race wide throughout.

After leaving the 1000m., GET GOING commenced to race fiercely and had to be checked off the heels of KID MILLIONS.

Near the 500m., MIGHTY STRONGHOLD shifted out to improve, forcing GET GOING wider on the track.

BAILS was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

M. Rice, rider, rider of KID MILLIONS, accidentally dropped his whip inside the 200m..

Apprentice D. Evans was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on RECORD TIME. He stated that he had been instructed by owner Mr A. Button to have the gelding forward and take a position behind the leaders if possible, however after travelling a short distance he was racing wide on the track and he elected to allow RECORD TIME to stride to the lead. The explanation was noted.

RACE 4: FUJI XEROX QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1200M.

CHORUS LION and OUR BRISK BAY were slow to begin.

Near the 900m., HOOT'S VIEW had to be steadied off the heels of AFRICAN GREY, which shifted in.

At the 700m., VICTORY HONOURS was tightened for room between SAN DEL AQUILA and SWEETPICK, which shifted out slightly.

SWEETPICK was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight and was disappointed for a run between AU CHOCOLAT and TRAFFIC STOPPER, which shifted out near the 200m..

A veterinary examination of VICTORY HONOURS following the event revealed the filly to have sustained a laceration to the outside of the near hind cannon.


RACE 5: ST MARGARET'S AGS EXHIBITION H'CAP - 1800M.

FEED THE MEETER, which was kicked on the off hip at the barriers, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

Near the 300m., SPONGE BOB, when tiring, shifted out and made heavy contact with SHAMROCKS, then shifted back in and made contact with RIVA REBEL, which at that stage was held up for clear running.

SPONGE BOB was obliged to race wide throughout.

A veterinary examination of TIMBER TYCOON, which finished last, failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 6: NORRIS MOTOR GROUP COUNTRY CUP - 1400M.

ELDWICK shifted out at the start and made contact with JUST THE BEST.

Shortly after the start, SEE YOU IN PARIS and SIN CITY were tightened for room between PRIVATE BRIEFING and RUFUS EM, which shifted out.

Approaching the 1000m., when racing in restricted room, LITTLE BIT LIVELY shifted in and made contact with WORRIER, and then shifted out and had to be checked off the heels of NEW YORK NEW YORK.

Near the 300m., SIN CITY had to be steadied when tightened for room between ELDWICK and JUST THE BEST, which shifted in.

WESTERN ROUGE bled during the event. As this was the second occasion on which the gelding has bled, WESTERN ROUGE will now incur a lifetime bar from racing.





RACE 7: SPOTLESS GROUP H'CAP - 1200M.

OUR BLUEBERRY HILL jumped awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, KID TREASURE shifted in and made contact with the hind quarters of HOOKMAN.

KID TREASURE was obliged to race wide throughout.

J. Taylor was questioned as to the reason for SAM'S DREAM racing further back in the field than anticipated. J. Taylor explained that the gelding, after jumping awkwardly, was reluctant to hold its position in the early stages, particularly with the fast pace. The explanation was noted.

HOOKMAN bled during the event. As this was the second occasion on which the gelding has bled, HOOKMAN will now incur a lifetime bar from racing.


RACE 8: COPY PRINT XPRESS H'CAP - 1600M.

At the 400m., ORTHOPAEDIC had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CLASSIC FRONTIER, which shifted out. M. Smith-Lester, rider of CLASSIC FRONTIER, was reprimanded and advised to be fully clear when shifting ground.

Near the 100m., CANTANTES had to be steadied to avoid the heels of LUCKY TOWN, which shifted out.

Inside the 100m., CLASSIC FRONTIER had to be steadied to avoid the heels of the tiring VISCAY STAR.

KING SHALFORD was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

TALBINGO LAD had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.

PEDRO THE SWIFT was obliged to race wide throughout the event.


ALL WINNERS, WESTERN ROUGE AND HOOKMAN WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
