Trainer N. Flouskos reported that TREVISCAY, which competed in the Goldmarket Handicap, was found to be slightly sore in the near knee on return to his stable.

Apprentice A. Best was fined $100 for failing to fulfil his engagement on MISTER LISTER at the above meeting.
RACE 1: MERCHERIE H'CAP - 1400M.
HARD TO FORGET jumped outwards at the start, forcing TRIUMPHANT QUEEN out on to LA LA BABETTE.
FASTNESS jumped inwards at the start, making heavy contact with PERVIN.
TAPCA was inclined to race fiercely rounding the first turn.
Approaching the 800m., TRIUMPHANT QUEEN had to be eased to avoid the heels of THE TRIPLE CLUB, which shifted in.
RACE 2: LADY ELWES H'CAP - 1600M.
CENTURY'S GIFT commenced to race fiercely leaving the 1300m. and continued to race fiercely until near the 800m.. CENTURY'S GIFT was also inclined to lay in throughout the race.
A veterinary examination of CANTANTES revealed the horse to be showing signs of lameness in the off fore leg and sensitivity over the loin muscles.
RACE 3: PRINCESS TERESINA H'CAP - 1200M.
Trainer R. Heathcote was fined $100 for failing to notify the removal of blinkers from JUNGLE RUM within the prescribed time.
ARCHAEOUS and DAILY PAPER were slow to begin.
At the 1000m., BROWN BRIDGE shifted out, forcing CLANGING to lose ground when having to be eased off the heels of COGNISANT.
BROWN BRIDGE made the crossing at the 600m. awkwardly.
Rounding the home turn, ADVANTAGE PLUS shifted out to improve and made heavy contact with MR BOBCAT, forcing that horse wider on the track.
Passing the 300m., JUNGLE RUM, which made the home turn awkwardly, had to be eased to avoid the heels of CLANGING, which shifted out to improve.
RACE 4: TOD MAID H'CAP - 1846M.

SCOOTERS was slow to begin.
ARBORELLE was inclined to race ungenerously rounding the first turn.
Passing the 700m., LUCKY TOWN was galloped on by ARBORELLE, which was racing ungenerously.
LUCKY TOWN compounded after making the crossing at the 600m. awkwardly and finished some distance from the main body of the field. A veterinary examination of LUCKY TOWN revealed the horse to be lame in the near hind leg.
Near the 500m., UPPITY shifted out to improve, forcing LUCKY TOWN and ARBORELLE wider on thetrack.
CLIQUE was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.
RACE 5: SUNSET SUE H'CAP - 1400M.
Approaching the first turn, MADISON shifted in when 3 wide, making contact with STARS IN BARS.
RACE 6: SIERRA QUEEN H'CAP - 1000M.
DREAM 'N' SCHEME, which was fractious in the barriers, jumped away awkwardly.
Following an inquiry into A. Best's riding of DREAM 'N' SCHEME, he was charged under AR 135(b)(c), in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure his horse was given full opportunity to win or to obtain the best possible place in the field, the specifics of the charge being that after jumping away awkwardly, he applied unnecessary restraint to his horse's mouth, which resulted in it losing considerable ground, and that he lacked vigour in the straight. A. Best was found guilty and his licence to ride was suspended for a period of 1 month, commencing at midnight, 31 August, and to expire at midnight, 1 October 2003.
A veterinary examination of DREAM 'N' SCHEME revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the inside of the near hind fetlock and lacerations to the mouth.
RACE 7: SCOMELD H'CAP - 1300M.
GOLD AMBER had to be checked at the start when tightened for room between BLITZ, which shifted in, and DUPLICATION and ROYAL DREAMER, which was taken out slightly by RUE THE SAINT.
DUPLICATION, which pulled hard rounding the first turn, was obliged to race 3 wide for the entire race.
CHARVILLA made the 600m. crossing awkwardly when wide on the track.
BIRRONG was held up for clear running until after passing the 200m..
Leaving the 200m., DUPLICATION shifted in and brushed CRUSHED ICE. A short distance later, CRUSHED ICE then shifted out, making contact with DUPLICATION.
GOLD AMBER and BIRRONG were both held up until near the 100m..
A veterinary examination of DUPLICATION revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the outside of the off fore cannon.
RACE 8: CHAMPAGNE KATE H'CAP - 1300M.
Trainer B. Fitzgerald was fined $200 for failing to scratch MISTRESS DANE by the required time.
PARTRIDGE slipped on jumping away.
B. Stewart, rider of BELLE AMAZON, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 1000m. when insufficiently clear of COOROOMAN STAR, resulting in COOROOMAN STAR being taken in on to TIME'S PRECIOUS, which had to be checked and surrender its position. B. Stewart was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 30.8.03 and to expire at midnight, 13.9.03.
Leaving the 1000m., DRAGON DELITE had to be restrained off the heels of ENA'S PRIDE. COOROOMAN STAR and TIME'S PRECIOUS, which were following, both had to be checked in this incident.
Approaching the crossing at the 600m., DRAGON DELITE had to be eased off the heels of BELLE AMAZON. TIME'S PRECIOUS, which was following, was inconvenienced.
TIME'S PRECIOUS and DRAGON DELITE were both held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
